This is a great pizza place in a very convenient location in Trastevere. They have plenty of options. It is your typical Roman pizza where you pay by the weight, then it is reheated for you within the minute. The crust here is slightly crispier than some of the other pizza places I've had in Rome, but I did not mind it. I recommend this spot for a quick bite! read more

I wasn't even hungry when I passed this place, but it's hard to deny pizza in Trastevere! The pizza was calling out to me so I dropped in, pointed at some slices and within a couple of minutes the friendly lady at the counter reheated the slices and I was able to indulge in some delicious pizza. As the punny name suggests the crust has a focaccia taste/texture in a good way, so I'd recommend if you're looking to fix your pizza cravings! read more

Yum! I wish I knew the name of the pizza that we got but honestly we just pointed at the ones that looked appealing! The one we loved had salami and a white cream sauce. It was lighter than we expected and quite delicious. Service was fast thanks to us being the only ones in there. The other 2 things we got weren't worth getting again, but that salami cream sauce pizza was worth returning for!!! read more

A little pizza shop in the middle of a busy street that makes good pizza. There are not too many places to sit inside but there is a plaza right outside and bars all around you can bring food in and sit and have a drink too. They have a good variety of square shaped pizzas to choose from. I had a pizza made out of olive paste with eggplant and a margarita pizza. I liked them. The crust was good. The flavors where good too. The staff was friendly, fast and helpful to us. They recomend something that was like rice balls with cheese inside. It has a bread coating. It was like a thicker mozzarella stick with rice and red sauce. It was really good. We all enjoyed it very much. read more

Found this by accident as I was walking from my hotel to the city center. Pizzeria Boccaccia was my first meal in Rome. Typical Italian pizza place. You point to the one you want indicate sIze using various hand gestures, and they slice it and warm it. Cost is based on weight. I had two kinds: (1) blue cheese and mushroom and (2) Bacon and cheese. OMG both were outstanding yet different! Two "slices" and a bottle of fizzy water came to 3.53 euro. Everyone was friendly and the woman who cut and weighed my pizza spoke a little English. There was a guy constantly cleaning. The place was lively despite the off hour I was there. This might be a repeat ....there were other pizzas there I wanted to try! Sadly, in retrospect now that the trip is over, I never got back there. Why 2 stars? Because Roman pizza is just weird. --- --- --- We spent about 6 days in Italy, and this was the only pizza that I didn't love. Unfortunately, I didn't even like it. I'm not really sure how to describe Roman Pizza - it's square and it's on some kind of Focaccia bread, or something like it. We saw others eating it in Rome and heard that we definitely had to dry it, but I would definitely recommend to fellow American tourists to skip it. Maybe it's just one of those things that people grow up on, so they love it, but it was just kind of strange for us. Or maybe Roman Pizza is actually great, but we just happened to visit a place having a bad day, because they definitely had great reviews! It was tough to chew and just wasn't enjoyable, in our experience. The service wasn't rude, but definitely not accommodating either. We ordered inside and then found a picnic table outside to eat, but I don't think we finished what we ordered, as we realized we were just forcing it down. And us not finishing our food is something that happens about as often as an eclipse, especially pizza. read more

Came here for lunch with tomo the other day for some slices. I ordered a few pomodoro slices (vegan) as well as some potato (vegan) ones while tomo got some with cheese/meat. They have a couple of vegan options, thin pizza compared to other places around, still pretty bomb though. Prices are pretty decent and the people are nice. read more

Well the ratings got us come but the owner was nasty yelling at us at 11:00 at night, when the places says it closes at 12:30. The pizza that was out was all that she was serving and it needed to be take out. "Stay off my floor"!. very nasty! Unfortunately, this was our first dining experience in Rome. Because number two. Day I went back to see how she was impossibly visit again and she let me know what I unhappy person she was before I ever order food. Unbelievable. read more

There are SO many options when it comes to Pizza in Rome, but if you are looking for the best of the best, make sure you stop in at La Boccacia! It's a bit off-the-beaten-path, and hidden on a side street, but it is definitely a hidden gem. The options are incredible, and they are constantly bringing out more and more pizza. Excellent pizza by the slice. Perfect for a light lunch when you don't want to have another restaurant meal but need something to tide you over. We got a few slices and sound outside. The crust is excellent and crispy. All the pizza was great but really loved the spinach ricotta one. read more

The only bad thing I can say is it was hard to find. It is tucked away and I walked right past it while actively looking for it. This was very good pizza though. They had several vegan and many vegetarian choices like broccoli rabe with sun-dried tomatoes or tomato and tomato with mushrooms. The bianca with potatoes was very good too. I wrapped it up carefully and ate some in the plane instead of awful airline food. When home popped the rest into the freezer for a future snack. You buy by the piece and pay by weight so you can get as much or as little as you want. Another great Rome pizza experience though I still prefer Pizza Florida. read more

I'm a huge fan of La Boccaccia; I always find myself here between or after classes, even when I'm on a diet! I love this place because of it's convenience and quality. Great pizza in general and especially when you're in a rush; ideal for JCU students nearby. There are many different "pizza a taglio" (pizza by the slice) nearby, but this one's my top pick! The pizza is not too oily, not too salty, and doesn't lack in toppings. The staff is very friendly and offers you chili oil and other additions to your pizza. Many people come here and with such a turn-around, there's always pizza that is hot and fresh out the oven. I like eating in outdoor area; it's really cute with barrel chairs and mismatched benches. The pizza is reasonably priced and a little on the more expensive side. Not enough to stop me! read more

This pizza place was one of the first I went to here in Trastevere! Super fresh and delicious! The pizza is greasy but the way they wrap it, it all drips to the bottom of the wrapper. This is classic Italian pizza! The price is by weight so you really are getting your money's worth. They have a wide selection of pizza already made and they just have to put it in the pizza oven and then cook it. Definitely recommend! read more

We stayed in Trastevere on our last trip and sampled this place (a few times) and the other place down the street (L.R) and this one was the winner for us. The ingredients were fresher and tasted to us of better quality. I loved there crust a bit better...had a crunch and a chew and this is my preference for pizza crust... sometimes if it gets reheated or sits out too long you won't get as much of a chew but we loved them so much better than the other. If I lived in the neighborhood they would see us all the time. Delicious! They people that worked there were wonderful and fun. With these pizza caldo places I think its best to choose the one that just was made or came fresh out of the oven...so be picky with your choices or skip your favorite topping one to get a fresher one if my rule when I visit these types of spots. I like buying pizza more when you just buy it weighed by the gram. The staff was fine. You just order at the counter, they weigh it out, you pay, they warm it for you, and you're good to go. It's nice because it's right at the bridge where the Tiber River runs so you can simply cross over to central Rome area easily after getting a snack. read more

As one of those annoying people who don't like pizza I'm constantly disappointed when dragged to pizza by any and everyone who likes pizza. Obviously we had to get pizza in Rome, and I can honestly say this was incredibly tasty. Probably not traditional, I know it wasn't traditional. Toppings were fantastic large variety. Pizza was made and heated for you. Price was great even for the Trastevere area in which you can expect higher costs. Great quick lunch. read more

So good we ate there twice...in the same night. I travelled to Rome with friends who ate there four times a week when they lived on the same street. If you want the authentic Roman style pizza experience, this place is a must. If you don't go here, you're missing out. It's a little off the beaten path, but worth it. On a week long trip to Rome we were meeting a friend in Trastevere and looked in advance to see where we could grab a decent, quick bite and La Boccaccia looked perfect - and it was! Exactly as described in other glowing reviews, although I disagree with the negative review about the quality. It's not your typical Roman pizza, slightly different dough for the base and crispier, but for us it was excellent. Tasted great, cheap, friendly, put up with our attempts at Italian graciously. We got more than enough pizza for two and then some, and a beer, for about 13€. Sat outside to munch, and wrapped up the rest in the grease proof paper it comes in to eat that evening at home. It's not got the PIZZERIA sign above the door any more, but does have a small chalkboard with the name and today's pizzas hanging from a tree just outside. Would be here every day if I lived nearby! read more

The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
