Heather makes the best drinks. It's a cool speakeasy bar that feels like you're in the 40's. I've never had a bad drink there. They have a good selection of spirits if you need a drink tailored to your liking. read more

Super cute tiny bar!! Went on my birthday and the bartender poured heavy drinks but it was great. It's better when it's not full, and that's not too often, unless you're a day drinker, or unless it's a week night. The occupancy is literally 15 or 20 people haha so this place is perfect for a couple or a few friends. It's an extremely interesting bar, it's obviously not your average bar designed to hold several groups of people. This one's intimate which is why I like it. read more

Went into Daphnes for a quick evening drink. It was smaller than I was expecting but felt so welcomed! I was given a seat at the bar while my boyfriend stood next to me. I'll have to be in the minority to say I wasn't impressed. Look there's cute charming bars out there for sure...The Upstairs, Tavern Law and numerous other speakeasies. I like the theme and feel of this place but its so small, it smelled like sweat. Also, they made a good French 77 but they have a limited bar. This is probably due to its size but they didn't have ginger beer or ginger ale. He said he does martinis, beer and wine on tap and I forget what else. I really liked the concept but I think this place was just a bit too small for me. read more

Sat on the patio on Saturday night. The place was packed the whole evening yet we never had to wait for a drink. Jeff was awesome! No matter how many people were surrounding him, each time me or my mom walked up, he would see right away and help us. Even offering me a taste at his busiest! I met my wife and daughter here for a nightcap late one evening after I'd attended a meeting that concluded after 9:00 PM. The joint is tiny -- about two-strides wide -- and the selection of beers and wines is equally narrow, but it all works. I'm not sure what the proprietor is going for -- 1920's speakeasy? French saloon? -- but it seems to engender a camaraderie enjoyed by everyone who manages to squeeze into the place. read more

This small bar has a big personality! 1920's theme with a New York feel located in the heart of Edmonds. Moscow mules are wonderful, but you can't go wrong with any of the drinks made by Desmond. This place reminds me of being in Europe....France perhaps. It is a small bar with a very gregarious entertaining bartender - Desmond. Dude is hilarious and a genuine, nice person. As others have pointed out - the brown Moscow mule is great. Nice selection of wines by the glass and a relatively nice selection of chevre w a fresh baguette. Patrons were all super nice as well. This has become a favorite place for me and my wife. It's like walking into someplace much hipper and cooler than we're used to here in Edmonds (yes, I'm an urban snob living in the suburbs). It's got amazing decor (think the attention to detail of the art direction and set design in "Mad Men" transplanted to a Belgian cafe), the bartender is super-friendly, and it has great belgian beer, bar snacks (including salami from Salumi), and other eats and drinks. read more

Went here the other day to finally check it out after chatting a few times with them on Twitter. LOVED the vibe of the place, had a very laid back European feel to it. Chuck at the bar was fun to chat with without feeling like I was distracting him or like he wouldn't leave me alone. Unfortunately when I went they were out of most of their food options after a busy weekend. My only knock against the place is that even though I went at happy hour my pint was still $6. Ouch! Then again, I'd much rather pay more and enjoy the cozy, fun atmosphere than pay less and go to a noisy tavern somewhere. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to pass an hour before dinner or enjoy a quiet evening sipping wine outdoors on a summer evening. I'll definitely be going back to sample the Salumi plate! read more

Just went for my first time, it was busy and the patrons were incredibly friendly. I ordered a Moscow Mule, a Dark and Stormy and a Manhattan. Each was the best I have ever had. Desmond is a wizard that turns alcohol in to liquid gold. Mind you I have never had a Manhattan I liked, so this says a lot. I still can't get over the warm welcoming crowd, we made jokes at each others expense and everyone was laughing the entire time. read more

What a quaint little place! My husband and I were walking along trying to find a place to go for dinner and as we were walking by, we heard a voice say "Welcome". We walked in and asked what exactly this place was. Come to find out, they sell three white wines, three red wines, a hand full of beer on tap, a salami platter w/ bread, a cheese platter w/ bread and olives. We had a few glasses of wine, a cheese platter, olives and some great conversation with another couple we met there and our server. It was one of those unexpected pleasures you just can't plan in life. We will go back again. There is enough seating for four at the bar and there are two corner tables that would seat maybe four. I can just imagine sitting at one of the tables enjoying a glass or two of wine, cheese and olives on a snowy evening this winter! read more

This is one of the best little (emphasis on little) high lights in a village that caters too an older, gentile group. Daphne serves a diminutive selection of good wine, beer and nosh but does it with aplomb. Tonite, Jeff was my bartender, I was in early and had a couple hours of nice chatter and a few glasses of some fine nice red wine. Meh. This place caught my attention after arriving in Edmonds from a late ferry. It looked interesting and the posted hours indicated they'd be open awhile. I decided to give it a look. Stepping through the door, I found a small crowd, lively laughter and a few patrons dancing around the far end of a very small bar. The place had a feel of a small craft cocktail bar like The Real McCoy in Bellingham or Hazlewood in Ballard. I felt comfortable. The bartender greeted me, turned to say a few words to a customer then promptly informed me they were done serving and closing in 10 minutes (20 minutes according to Yelp). I came to the conclusion that it's only locals after a certain time. That's my first and last experience here: I won't be returning. read more

Daphne's is a very small simple bar with great cocktails. It's quite cozy and comfortable and can get very crowded and loud for such a little place. But the magic of this place is Desmund!
