Randomly came across this Korean restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and provided quick service. There's a huge parking lot, which makes visiting very convenient. The only downside is that we came on a Friday night, and the restaurant is located right underneath a gym. The loud noise from upstairs made the experience a bit unpleasant but of course, that's not their fault. We ordered the seafood pancake, which was very good, it was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with seafood. It was a large portion, so we ended up taking the rest home. The cold noodles were just okay, nothing particularly special. The banchan, however, was delicious with a nice variety, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes. Highly recommend!

High quality Korean food with huge portions! I was craving Korean food and found Daon on GrubHub, so I didn't eat in restaurant, but my at home experience was stellar. I ordered the soondubu and seafood pancake and was shocked by the portions. I could have easily turned all this food into 3 meals. Daon makes one of the best seafood pancakes I've had in a while. The pancake was so crisp and full of seafood! Each piece had the perfect mix of crisp exterior and chewy inside and it was so delicious. The soondubu was also amazing! Extremely flavorful and delicious. I just could not believe how big the portions were! They have take out figured out perfectly, because they provided the rice and banchan in containers that were sealed on the top to prevent mixing or spillage. I've never seen a restaurant pack their food like this before but it was perfect. I cannot wait to order from Daon again!

After years of having Daon bookmarked, I was excited to finally try. The service stands out the most; family run, and they're very warm and attentive. They genuinely enjoy taking care of their customers, and they wanted to ensure that we were having a great time & constantly checked in on us. The food: The kimchi was just ok- I was surprised by how bland some were. The entrees were also just ok- for the Danville price tag, I probably would skip another visit. There's better Korean food hidden through out the tri valley in less expensive areas. The decor is cute, but the ambiance suffers from being located underneath a gym- it sounded like weights were constantly getting dropped right above you as you ate.

We were visiting my uncle and auntie and took them here for dinner. I had some spicy noodle and fried wontons.

Saw this as a suggestion on yelp and loved It! My husband has never tried Korean food so I decided to bring him here for an early lunch. Loved that he explained all the dishes to him and was able to suggest some options based On our preferences. I wanted to try a lil soju but they didn't have shots but they were so cool and brought out a lil bit so I can try. The service was impeccable and can't wait to be back!

The service and the food were solid. The breading on the korean fried chicken wings is the best I ever had. Beef short ribs were cooked perfectly with a little char. Mmmm Spicy chicken had an amazkng flavor. Rice cakes had a good chew. All in all 8.5/10

Beef Noodle Soup

What a lovely Korean food spot tucked away in Danville! Great variety of banchan and not salty. We tried the seafood pancake, hot stone bibimbap with kalbi, and beef noodle soup. LOVED the seafood pancake! So full of tender seafood and cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Kalbi bibimbap also so delicious, the rice crisped so nicely and everything was seasoned just right - not salty at all. The beef noodle soup was also yummy and had lots more veggies than expected! Loved that the bowl stayed hot even after I finished the noodles, meat, & veggies! Will definitely come back!

WOW possibly my new favorite Korean place :0 this was our second time dining here. First time we ordered the bibimbap and soondubu. Both dishes hit the spot. We were especially impressed by the bibimbap. Side dishes might be my favorite thing about this place. Each one is flavored perfectly and they have a great selection! This time we ordered the kimchi stew and chicken wings (soy). Chicken wings were out of this world. We both agreed they were probably the best Korean fried chicken we had. Very juicy and perfectly battered and well seasoned. Service is also extremely friendly. Very kind and attentive even when they are busy. Can't wait to return for another yummy meal.

Great Korean spot located in Danville with delicious food and super nice staff! Super glad to have tried this spot and definitely a place to come back to. It's located in a large plaza with plenty of parking. The restaurant decor is simple and straight forward with a small waiting area. The day we visited the restaurant was a bit understaffed with only one person working to take orders, bring out dishes, clean up tables, etc., so overall the service was slower than usual, but the staff was very nice and apologetic. He kept coming to make sure we were OK and apologizing for the wait, which our group understood completely and didn't mind. They even offered us extra snacks (mandu) and food (fried chicken) because of the wait, which we didn't expect but appreciated. We ordered seafood pancake, spicy BBQ pork, and galbi-jjim between a party of 3, and it was more than enough food for all of us. I really liked the seafood pancake which was crispy and flavorful, with a decent amount of seafood (vs. batter). The galbi-jjim was also very good, with the meat super tender and flavorful and the rice cake cooked to just the right texture. Overall, I had a great dining experience here and would definitely come back again!

Kimchi Stew

A small spot in a large plaza with plenty of parking. It's a bit hidden so be on the lookout. There's a decent amount of seating with TVs. The service was ok. I came about 30 mins before they close for the afternoon and had to wait to be seated even though there was only one other table. Kimchi stew - 5/5 - very delicious and flavorful, the perfect amount of spice. The banchans were a good variety and delicious as well.

Spicy cold noodle. The noodle is nice and chewy.

Randomly came across this restaurant and what a pleasant surprise, the place was clean, the server was kind, could tell he really cared about the service. Most importantly the food was really good, authentic. We got stone pot bibimbap with spicy pork and the cold noodle and killed everything. The side dishes were yum too.

Seafood pajun
Lilian W.

My husband and I came for dinner on a Monday evening. It was empty when we arrived so we were seated immediately with menus. We ordered a seafood pajun and soondubu tofu soup to share. It was quiet and calm, and the service was friendly. We got a few little plates of banchan, and got a refill when we asked for it. The seafood pajun was so delicious! The crispy golden brown batter was stuffed with a balanced mix of seafood and vegetables, paired with savory dipping sauce. The tofu soup was also delicious and really hit the spot after a long day of travel. We had chosen beef as our meat, and it was a little tough/chewy, but other than that, the soup was perfect. This was a great spot for delicious, well-portioned, authentic Korean food.

I would have ordered their pancake if they have kimchi pancake. That's the only thing caught me off guard at this place as they only offer seafood pancake and no other variety options. I ordered their Komtang for the first time and went with the combo, which included small intestines, tripe, tendon, and brisket. My favorite part of the meal was actually the kimchi. They offer both regular and radish kimchi, and both were well-prepared with great freshness and rich flavor. The soup came with noodles already inside, along with a side of rice. There was also a bowl of green onions where you can add as much or as little as you'd like. You season the soup yourself with salt and pepper, which lets you customize it to your taste. Overall, the soup felt very healthy, light, and clean. You can taste the pork broth, but it isn't overpowering at all. Very comforting and satisfying.

We usually just get the regular menu and are well satisfied with our many available meat choices. The staff members are always so courteous, friendly and attentive (shout out to Ethan! He's the best!), and they provide frequent grill changes as needed. They provide a table full of various banchan dishes (sides) to enjoy - the japchae is consistently delicious and our daughter enjoys their kimchi - and they will replenish those as often as you like. They also offer a generous serving of free ice cream for dessert (always scrumptious), although since my husband and I started eating carnivore at the beginning of this year, we give the banchan and ice cream a polite pass now. This is the perfect restaurant for carnivores because you can get all the meat you care to eat! The sliced brisket is great, and the miso pork belly is a big favorite of ours! We did try the premium menu one time and the wagyu was definitely delicious! There's very little we would change at all! Foodwise, we would love it if they offered pre-shelled garlic marinated shrimp - we like seafood, but we tend to avoid this because the one time we tried the shrimp it stuck to the grill and just involved too much messy peeling to deal with for what we ended up getting to eat. There are always plenty more items to choose from so this was a very minor thing. There's admittedly not much parking onsite to accommodate their volume of customers, as their lot is small, but that dates back to the original business (Kawa Sushi, which was our all-time favorite sushi restaurant before it sadly closed after COVID!) and can't be helped. There's plenty of on-street parking, and after eating an indulgent meal, a little walk is not a bad idea to level out our blood sugar! One change we would definitely appreciate is if the music volume was set slightly lower (it is always high decibel and tends to impede conversation if you're eating in the main front area) and we would love some variety in the music selection. We understand the custom in this type of restaurant is to play high energy music rather than anything more relaxing to eat by, but how about some great 70s, 80s, and 90s music? My guess is that a lot of the patrons that eat here regularly might enjoy that ambience much more (we definitely would)! One more thing I'd like to add - we have tried out several different AYCE Korean BBQs, both locally and in other places, and nothing has ever lived up to YakiniQ in food quality and in dining experience - we are always somewhat disappointed whenever we go somewhere else. For one thing, most places force you to choose from a limited menu framework that also includes many specific side dishes or non-BBQ items that we cannot eat, and they will only serve a limited amount at one time, so sometimes there is inconvenient waiting involved as we try to get the attention of the wait staff. This is not the case at YakiniQ - all ordering is done conveniently through scanning a QR code that opens their online menu app. You can get everything from food to drinks to additional tableware (and even request your bill), all by a quick tap of your screen. There are very few limited-consumption items, and the allowed amounts are generous enough to satisfy a healthy appetite. Also, some of these other restaurants have developed some rather elevated upcharges (or even a "membership") and/or complicated pricing structures which are both unreasonable and unnecessary. At YakiniQ, they keep the focus where it belongs, on good food and good service for a reasonable price per person. If you do decide to splash out on the premium menu, you will definitely get your money's worth, and if you stick to the regular menu, you will not be disappointed - either way, you will not leave hungry! (And for us getting the regular menu just means we can come back more often!) If you love Korean BBQ, YakiniQ is the place to be! If you've never tried it - start here. You'll never want to go anywhere else.

We were super excited because this wasn't our group's first time at this establishment, so trust me when I say something has gone wrong. Nothing tasted right. There was no "omg! This is so good" moment. Every dish our group ordered was meh . We didn't even take a second bite of two entrees. They were that poorly made. The vegetables were raw, and the taste was bland. The roti was drenched in oil. The papaya salad didn't have chopped peanuts. The drunken beef spaghetti made you wonder if the requirement was to be literally drunk to make it. The calamari were tiny, the kind you'd expect at a typical boba snack shop--not up to par for a $$$ restaurant. We live in the Bay Area. Like, there's no reason seafood, let alone a dish like calamari, shouldn't have had a moment. I'm so sad because our team rarely has time for outings. We were really looking forward to it, but we were extremely disappointed. I lost all joy for food after that experience. Sayonara, OHB. We probably won't come back as a group until you revive yourself. And the service: two thumbs down. The server's tone wasn't friendly, just curt and brief. Before we even began, she was like, "Are you ready to order or what?" And there was no point to it. Our group wasn't pretentious at all. We didn't call our server over, except maybe once to see the menu again and order a fresh plate of fruit, because at that point, it was the only chance we were willing to take. The kimchi is more on the sour/bitter side, so sorry to the sweet kimchi fans. As a solo diner I was particularly worried about the food proportions for the mini Bulgogi.
