The space was neat, simple, and we loved watching a big screen, showing the process of making yummy Korean sweets. They were very kind, and served us some items on the house as it was my special day! The food was also delicious. I ordered spicy beef soup, and it was very filling! Some other Korean places only have small amount of ingredients in it. Here, the bowl was filled with shredded beef and vegetables. My husband and my son ordered Bulgogi and Galbi, and both came sizzling on metal plates, ready to be eaten. Came by after seeing such great reviews on Yelp and was excited to try it. We ordered the galbi-jjim, soy glazed chicken wings, and beef mandu. Before ordering, we asked if the wings could be made boneless since my dad doesn't eat chicken with bones. They told us yes, so we went ahead with that, but when the dish came out, only about 5 pieces were actually boneless. I wish they had clarified that beforehand, because I would've chosen a different dish. Flavor-wise, everything leaned much sweeter than expected. The galbi-jjim in particular was quite sweet, and even the kimchi had a noticeable sweetness that was more than I was used to at other Korean restaurants. Came back on a rainy day for lunch and had their tofu soup for the first time. It was a bit on the salty side but pretty tasty. We got potstickers for an extra dollar for the tofu soup. I do not recommend the potstickers for the tofu soup because it just falls apart in the soup and all you get are potsticker wrappers with no meat inside. Next time I will get the fish cake instead of potstickers for an extra dollar. The basic tofu soup is $17 and you can choose either beef or pork. There was some onions and zucchini in the soup as well. The banchan was okay but on the bland side. The best banchans were the kimchi and the fish cake. We ordered an appetizer of fried chicken wings. Unfortunately I did not think the fried chicken wings were as good as they were last time. Last time the fried chicken was very crispy and had a very good glaze. The chicken today was less flavorful and not as crispy. You get six pieces for $14 or you can order the fried chicken à la carte for about $28. They always have only one waitress or waiter so the service is good but hurried. I didn't like the chemical smell of the cleaning spray that they use on tables. The gym next door is very loud. I was surprised at how nice the dishes are, and the portions are generous. They serve complimentary banchan and refill for you if you ask. It's nice to snack on while you wait for your meal. I tried the Korean chicken wing appetizer to start and two entrees: the stone pot bibimbop & the original Soondubu with beef. The wings are honestly some of the best I've tried.. extra crispy and flavorful. The bibimbop is really delicious as well, and if you get the stone pot version over the regular, you'll get the crispy rice at the bottom which I enjoy. There's a huge parking lot, which makes visiting very convenient. The only downside is that we came on a Friday night, and the restaurant is located right underneath a gym. The loud noise from upstairs made the experience a bit unpleasant but of course, that's not their fault. We ordered the seafood pancake, which was very good, it was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with seafood. It was a large portion, so we ended up taking the rest home. The cold noodles were just okay, nothing particularly special. The banchan, however, was delicious with a nice variety, which made the meal even more enjoyable. I ordered the soondubu and seafood pancake and was shocked by the portions. I could have easily turned all this food into 3 meals. Daon makes one of the best seafood pancakes I've had in a while. The pancake was so crisp and full of seafood! Each piece had the perfect mix of crisp exterior and chewy inside and it was so delicious. The soondubu was also amazing! Extremely flavorful and delicious. I just could not believe how big the portions were! They have take out figured out perfectly, because they provided the rice and banchan in containers that were sealed on the top to prevent mixing or spillage. I've been a here a few times to satisfy my craving for kimchee tofu soup. It hits the spot. However, each item is about $2-5 more than you would pay compared to Korean restaurants in the Dublin area or in the south bay. I think the Korean restaurants in the South Bay have better flavor and appeal, but I think it's because there is more demand and more competition. But this is the place to go if you live in the tri-valley (San Ramon, Danville, Alamo) and don't want to drive far. I think the best value for your money are the tofu soup. It's about $15 - $17 per bowl. And you get a serving of rice and includes 4-5 banchan (side) dishes to go with your soup. The service is friendly and fast. The ambience is ok. Simple design. But it sits under a gym, so you can hear an occasional thump. I visit this place about 2-3 times year to get my Korean fix. Try it. I think you'll like it. read more

WOW possibly my new favorite Korean place :0 this was our second time dining here. First time we ordered the bibimbap and soondubu. Both dishes hit the spot. We were especially impressed by the bibimbap. Side dishes might be my favorite thing about this place. Each one is flavored perfectly and they have a great selection! Hands down the best Korean restaurant in the Tri-Valley! Met up with a buddy here for a meal recently. This is located where the old Fish on Fire restaurant was, just to the right of Fitness 19. The restaurant is comfortable, clean, and there's plenty of parking at the Town and Country shopping plaza. We both love kalbi so instead of family style with two different dishes we ended up ordering an order of kalbi for ourselves and shared the fried mandu. The banchan (Korean side dishes) were delicious and included kim chi, fish cake, sautéed spinach, bean sprouts, tofu, and spinach. When we asked for another set of chopsticks to use as a serving utensil, they brought out another set of banchan so we each had our own! The fried mandu was a good appetizer to share with 8 pieces. The two plates of kalbi came out piping hot and topped with sesame seeds and green onions. It came with 4 strips of kalbi cut into "12 bone sections". These were marinated perfectly with so much flavor! The service was great! Our waiter was friendly and kept checking on us to see if we needed refills on any side dishes or drinks. I also ordered a side of Japchae to go. The togo container is sealed with plastic, similar to how boba places seal the drinks. It also came with a set of banchan. Updated review after 3 years: Although Daon is the closest Korean restaurant to us, it is not among our recent favorites. Our current favorites are Seoul Komtang in Pleasanton followed by Tofu House on Dublin. Our most recent dining experience was by Doordash, and the restaurant took like an hour for the food to arrive. The quality was just average, with some clear flaws: * White Tofu Soup with beef was just bland. White tofu is generally non-spicy, but it should still have some flavors like a savory broth. Seoul Komtang charges about the same and their version is well seasoned with lots of soft beef, zucchini, and silky soft tofu. * Bibimbap is the ultimate dish that combines proteins, veggies, carbs and yes dairy (fried egg with runny yolk. It tastes best when served in a sizzling hot bowl, which is impossible for takeout. Daon's version gives a good amount of veggies and I like how they separate the egg and rice for you to mix. The beef was a bit on the chewier side unfortunately, We'll probably stop using Doordash for Daon. When the craving for Korean food hits, we'll just trek down to Pleasanton for Seoul Komtang. read more

Came upon this Korean restaurant by chance. It was about to close the lunch hours, but let me in anyway. I was new to the restaurant and fairly new to Korean food. I chose the octopus entree and was very pleased. I asked for mild spicing and it was perfect. The side dishes were all very good. I have since read review and will definitely go back to try other dishes. I am a pescatarian/vegetarian, so the seafood pancake sounds wonderful as do a couple other vegetable based options. DAON is the first and only Korean restaurant in Danville. It's located in the Town and Country Shopping Center, not far from the Hwy 680 Sycamore Valley Road offramp. My friends Sarah and David treated me to dinner here for my belated birthday on 10/18/2022. The place was quite busy when we walked in at around 6:20 pm. The interior was small and cozy. Cleanliness was exceptional. Disinfectant wipes were available for customer use at each table. There were a couple TVs mounted on the walls playing different programs. We were greeted by the owner, who seated us at a table near the back. Water and menus were quickly brought to us. After some deliberation, we each got a dolsot bibimbap with different meat (spicy pork for me, bulgogi for Sarah, and spicy chicken for David). We also ordered a seafood pajeon (pancake) and chicken wings to share. Everything came at once after 20 minutes or so. The seafood pajeon was done nicely. It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It could have used a bit more scallion and seafood though. The drumettes (I didn't see any wings) were excellent. The coating was very crunchy and the sweet and spicy sauce had a great balance. The three dolsot bibimbaps arrived sizzling hot. I had the spicy pork and it was excellent. The meat was flavorful and remained moist despite being in a high heat bowl. The vegetable toppings were colorful and delicious and the fried egg was not overcooked. The burnt rice curst on the bottom was very enjoyable. The quintet of banchans were decent. Out of the five, I liked the broccoli florets and kimchi the most. Service we received was very good. The owner managed to check on us constantly throughout the meal despite being the only person working the floor. Prices were a bit on the high side but in line with other Korean restaurants up and down Hwy 680. This place is a great option for Korean food in the Walnut Creek/Danville/San Ramon area.
