Ordered lunch this week from Dao and it was great! Reasonably priced lunch specials and they delivered it super quickly. Would definitely recommend! read more

Dao Madison is a our favorite Chinese restaurant in the NY/NJ area. Their dishes are flavorful, well-made with quality ingredients, and always very fresh. We've never had a dish from here we haven't wanted to order again. Great for dining in and takeout. The service is always great as well! read more

Wow just had dinner here tonight and everything was delicious with extremely fresh ingredients. My family is so excited to finally have a local place with soup dumplings! Really could not go wrong with anything you order. Not to mention service was great and place was very modern and clean! read more

Portions are large, but quality of fish is middling. Good service. Decent ambience.

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Great find and fast service. Dumplings are our go to.

So so I think the Bean Curs in Chatham is better. When did Chinese food get so expensive?

It is our first time here. Everything here is exceeded our expectation!! The staff are super friendly and attentive! The dishes were delicious! The restaurant deco is modern and clean. The price of the menu is very reasonable!! I highly recommend them. read more

Authentic Sichuan dry pot, good stuff, Nice interior and friendly service too. Recommended.

Ordered a couple different things, rice noodles and beef, soup dumplings, and crispy beef Szechuan style. The dumplings were very good. Beef and noodles really didn't taste like anything unfortunately and the crispy beef was very sweet and sticky, the sauce was also it too thick. Would definitely order the soup dumplings again but the other things I would not. read more

Pleased there is now a suburban Chinese restaurant between Route 46/22 that can satisfy various palates. Tastefully decorated, with an ambitious menu and professional staff. Was interested to give it a try when a friend reported the 3 cup chicken was credible, maybe not quite equal to Lin's. My initial visit was by invitation of friends who are not fussy foodies. Was a bit surprised to be offered fried noodles & duck sauce as we pursued the menu. They wanted to start w/ dumplings, pan fried ones were acceptable - I prefer XLB only in a few places in the city. Was surprised they offered Sichuan dry pots - sadly I was compelled to order the mild version. Good ingredients which were crying for more mala. The highlight of the meal was the short ribs which the manager urged us to try - tasty, tender, perhaps not ethnically correct. Will be back to taste some dishes without restrictions. This operation can provide a satisfying dining experience for most. However if you tend to order beef & broccoli or some General's chicken to eat at home, there are countless more economical options. read more

I decided to try Dao for take out tonight. My usual go to place is Blossom bistro in Chatham Twp. I ordered fried pork dumplings and pork fried rice. The dumplings were o.k. The pork fried rice wasn't that great. There was hardly any pork in it, just a lot of rice and scrambled eggs with some veggies. It was dry. I'll try them one more time. read more

Hands down the best Chinese food in the area and def one of the best restaurants overall. I dream of their eggplant stuffed with shrimp and scallops. If you've ever been blessed to eat Xian Famous Foods' cumin lamb, Dao's Mongolian lamb will similarly dazzle your palate . The hunan pork and Peking duck are also standouts . The only misses after 4 months of patronage have been the veggie dumplings (bland) and scallion pancakes ( too fried / crispy) . Management is exceedingly friendly and helpful in finding alternatives should anything you order be out. read more

I normal have to grade on a Chatham/Madison curve, but this place has got it going on for any location. Great food, great service, fair prices. What else do you want? No longer any reason to even contemplate alternatives. read more

Wonderful addition to the area! Terrific food, service and ambiance. I dream about their seafood hot and sour soup! I have eaten in or taken out from Dao about a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. They are wonderful with gluten free dishes too. My husband has Celiac, they are amazing with guiding him to a wonderful and safe meal every time. My favorite thing is the lightness of the food. I can't stand a dish swimming in oil! Love the BYOB too! read more

Wow! I've been eating Chinese food all my life so it's hard to impress me but Dao Madison certainly did! The flavors are refreshingly new and robust. Our favorites were the short ribs, soup dumplings, braised salmon and tricup Chicken. Our waiter, Stanley, was super-helpful with recommendations and very attentive even though it was a busy night. It's a new favorite! Recommend making a reservation even on a weeknight because the word it out! read more

This is an amazing culinary experience! The food, staff, owners and ambience inside the restaurant are top notch. We've been for dinner and lunch and take out. Everything we've tried, thus far, from hot & sour soup to steamed dumplings to full dinners most notably orange beef, general Tsao's chicken, garlic chicken, and the "light & healthy"steamed options were all incredibly delicious. The purple rice at dinner is also a great upgrade from white or brown rice. The complimentary tea when dining in the restaurant is served in exquisite china (be careful the tea is super hot). Wish we had thought to take pictures; everything about the experience was wonderful. We will be back again and again and it's great to have a beautiful restaurant with excellent food & service on the "other side" of town (ie, not downtown). Parking is plentiful. read more

The stuffed eggplant with shrimp and scallops, had delicately crispy edges and was the best stuffed eggplant I ever had! The restaurant looked new, clean and airy. Everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and helpful! read more

I stopped in with a large group on the weekend, and it was busyyy! Busy for a good reason! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful when you walk in and it translated over into their food presentation. I highly recommend doing family style and order a bunch of dishes to share so you get to try all that they offer. I have to highlight how accommodating the staff was with my food allergy. They took the time (as busy as they were) to understand my allergy and made sure that what we ordered was not cross contaminated. This spot is perfect for a date night! BYOB and enjoy their amazing apps and dishes! For appetizers, the Shanghai Soup Dumplings and scallion pancakes are a MUST. I have been on a hunt for the best soup dumpling in the Tri-state area and Dao is by far the best I've had. My absolute favorite dish of the night was the Subgum Pan Fried Noodles. The sauce/gravy is the perfect mix of sweet and savory. Coming in as close runner up, is the Honey Walnut King Prawn. The prawns were huge and cooked to perfection! I have been to Dao a few times and cannot wait to come back to try some of their other specialties! read more

Enjoyed the food & the service was great! They made a dish I requested that wasn't on the menu, pan fried noodles with assorted seafood & vegetables. It was delicious! I have to return & try the other items on their menu. I'm sure this restaurant will be here for a while, since there aren't too many Asian restaurants in Madison. read more

This place was superb. The food was excellent (the cashew chicken and egg drop soup were our favorites), online ordering was super easy and the food was ready exactly when the website said it would be. Added bonus was easy parking at the restaurant. We will definitely be back to Dao! read more

Tried Dao Madison for the first time and was very pleased. The soup dumplings were excellent and the other dishes were quite authentic using quality ingredients. Service was great. I hope we can keep it in business. Try it. read more

Madison needed a new Chinese restaurant and this is it! Delicious, authentic food. Pork fried dumplings didn't disappoint. String beans with garlic and beef were delicious. So happy to have a new Chinese restaurant back in the area. read more

Read about this place opening in the Madison Eagle and decided to give it a try! Definitely the best Chinese food I've had in the area. We had the fried pork dumplings, general tso's, wonton soup, and the mala pork dry pot -- all were excellent! read more

Amazing authentic food, huge portions, nice ambiance and super friendly service. We tried the dry pot and the flavors were fantastic - a beautiful blend of spices. The soup dumplings were juicy and flavorful and addictive. We will definitely return to try more of the dishes. read more

Finally an enjoyable Chinese dining experience near Chatham, NJ. we had dinner here last night and the food was great. tasty and well prepare; staff was friendly and helpful and service was good. The restaurant is simple and comfortable. We'll be back. read more

This was by far the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Waited for a table for about 15 minutes and saw well over 20 take out orders being picked up. Thought to myself that perhaps we have found a little oasis in the middle of Madison. Could not have been more wrong. Ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever. Could not pour enough sauce to make this palatable. Had the Shrimp Fried Rice. The rice was hard, the shrimp was not fresh and no amount of soy sauce could salvage the dish. It was a complete and total waste of $45. You can find literally any cart in NYC selling Chinese food that would be gourmet in comparison to the culinary crime that is being served here. If Yelp allowed for negative stars I would gladly give them. When I asked for the check after eating about 10% of the food the waiter did not have the presence of mind to figure out there might be a problem. Even after asking if we wanted to take anything home and I replied "absolutely not!" Utterly clueless. Or perhaps the wait staff know the level of crap that is being served and simply wanted no part in defending the indefensible. read more
