Great atmosphere, friendly service and good food with an extensive menu. I appreciate that Dao makes an excellent dry hot pot, with your choice of meats. Very tasty!! A small parking lot though so be careful!! read more

This Chinese is so good. They also have a gluten free option for almost everything on the menu. The servers were very nice and knowledgeable. We felt very safe eating gluten free here. Restaurant and bathrooms were well kept. The atmosphere was quiet and upscale for Chinese. read more

I was so excited that I finally found a restaurant that had Soup Dumplings! I should have saved my time and money and went to Trader Joe's to buy a box of their frozen version, they were a 100 times better than the ones from Dao Madison. The dumplings had a sour smell to them and the pork tasted off. The boneless spare ribs were chewy and hard and the shrimp roll was awful. I'm glad we only started with appetizers before we actually ordered dinner. What a waste of $57.00.....definitely will not be going back! read more

Delicious! So wonderful to be able to get gluten free Chinese food. Legit GF they even marked out to go containers with gluten free stickers and included GF soy sauce. read more

The lunch specials seem to be last night's leftovers. You get a fair bit of food for your money, but it is not good. I ordered a dish which had enough oil in it to get an 18 wheeler coast to coast if it were refined. The fried rice it came with was cold and stale without any taste. Hard pass. read more

This place hit the spot. Fired noodle dish was bomb would definitely recommend to others.

We just dined a Dao and the food was great. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The best part was the service. The staff worked as a team to make our experience so much fun. The food was great. Will definitely go back. read more

Ordered take out here after seeing it on Yelp. My main interest was they have egg rolls which I love. Spring rolls are fine but I often crave egg rolls. So we ordered and I drive to pick up. The place is bright and welcoming and I'd like to try dine in next time. So we started with soup getting egg drop and hot and sour. The hot and sour was unique in the different mushrooms and veggies inside. The broth was delish. Ordering again. The egg drop was good but had a tomato which seemed strange. The egg roll was one of the best I have had not greasy and crunchy. Then we had Shanghai soup dumplings and veggie dumplings to share. Both were good despite being picked up as opposed to dine in. I had the shredded duck fried rice which was fantastic and different. Excellent quality of duck! We also had the three pepper chili chicken which was a hit. Sorry no pics we were hungry. Really nice people we will be back here. My only complaint was no fortune cookie. Try this place you will be glad you did. read more

Service and food is impeccable and best in NJ. Had various items and they were all good including soup dumpling, spare ribs, dry hotpot. Very friendly and Chatham/Madison matched place. read more

Finally great Chinese food in Morris Co. It's been along time since we've been able to find a place that doesn't have greasy food with gummy thick. sauces. This was a refreshing change from the rest. Egg drop soup not gummy, just the right consistency and flavorful. Xiao long bao was better than any others we've tried in the area. Nice, thin dumpling with tasty filling. Chinese broccoli and chicken was delicious as well as mu shu duck. Looking forward to our next visit. Great service too. read more

Dao Madison - Xiao long bao. Shanghai soup dumplings - Chinese Near Me - Madison, New Jersey

Terrible service! My husband and I order more than once a week from here and today the owner could not accommodate us and then hung up!!!!!

Started off excellent with the duck rolls but downhill from there. Sesame noodles were greasy and no sesame or peanut flavor whatsoever. Ordered pork dish with side of fried rice, rice was missing. Chow main had zero flavor, tasted like boiled water with celery, onions and rubber chicken strips. I rarely use soy sauce and adding 1 1/2 packets didn't even help. Crispy triple pepper chicken was soggy and well below par. The hard crispy noodles were very good, if not I would be looking for something for dinner. Finished off with fortune cookie, was so stale I just laughed it off. All for about $100 read more

Really great Chinese food in Madison! Every dish I tried was tasty! Items that were meant to be crispy were crispy, the ingredients were high quality, and the price was very reasonable. (If not a steal). The Szechuan dumplings were spicy, garlicky, and full of umami. The sesame shrimp contained numerous XL shrimp that were crunchy and flavorful. The best thing about this place is it has both traditional and Americanized items on its menu, and they shine on both! Will definitely be back read more

So happy this authentic Chinese restaurant opened this month in the neighborhood!!! Im talking real Chinese flavors and techniques, quality ingredients, and not overly salty. It can definitely compete with what you find in Edison. I was told that the Chinese owner is a serial restauranteur with experience from NYC/NJ. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is super clean, nicely decorated and cozy. It's not that big of a place so I can imagine that the wait time can get serious. It's spacious enough that I would bring my young kids. So glad there's a local Chinese place that I would frequent! My husband and I got the XLB to start, meat lovers dry pot (medium spicy was not very spicy), black pepper steak (reminded me of HK style black pepper cubed filet mignon), and eggplant. Came with rice. Nice presentation. We will be back! read more

Excellent atmosphere with authentic Chinese cuisine. Very friendly staff, the food comes out fast and hot! The best place I've been to in the Madison / Chatham area for Chinese Food, you can't go wrong here. read more

First time trying Chinese food in this area - thought it was so odd that general tsos chicken didn't come with rice. I see after the fact that under side dishes you can order rice, but for the price, a meal should come with more than just chicken and 4 pieces of broccoli (never seen it NOT COME with rice in my life honestly). Chicken and sauce was tasty but for the price nothing special. Pork fried dumpling was fine and egg roll was very good (hard to mess that up). Most likely won't be back unfortunately. If there was rice included I'd probably give 4 stars but still wouldn't be rushing back read more

My wife and I were delighted to find this new Chinese restaurant so close to Chatham. We ate there for lunch today and loved it. First a comment. Someone needs to post the lunch menu online. The dinner food looks expensive for lunch, and I did not see the lunch menu - quite reasonable - until we arrived. Of the food items, we started with the suit dumplings, which we love, and they were delicious. Be careful with the soup spoons that are a tad small for the dumplings. The hot & sour soup was next and it matches well against the best in NJ. Finally we had the kung pao chicken and General Tso's chicken (lunch specials) with white rice. Everything was excellent. We were in and out in 30 minutes, showing the service to be prompt, professional, and great for the lunch crowd. Finally, the ambience is good with a new and clean decor. Give this place a try, maybe we will see you there on our next visit. read more

5 stars when also factoring in that I love Chinese food and this is literally 5 minutes from my home. After 1 takeout and 2 dine ins, the food is a cut above average and the prices are too but I think it's worth it. Their dry pots are unusual and I really like the family version but I suggest dining in for those dishes for their attractive presentation. The interior was nicely redone from the prior restaurant and the service is well meaning with a very entertaining waiter who offered soup dumpling instructions for their accompanying matchstick ginger and vinegar. It is now our go to place but make a reservation since it's becoming very popular. read more

Try it, you will like it. Fresh. Different. Best Chinese in the area, something that has been severely lacking in the past several years in this area. read more

Excellent service and the best Chinese food in the area/outside NYC. Accommodates vegetarian and vegan diets.

Way overrated. I had lunch at DAO and was greatly disappointed. I had a shrimp and lobster sauce lunch special that was obviously prepared by an unqualified chef. My dish was all liquid and loaded with way too much salt. Really revolting. DAO is not cheap and I was aware of that before I went there. It turned out to be way beneath the quality of my usual go to average hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout place. So why did I pay 50% more for this lunch compared to that of my usual go to Chinese restaurant? To get a plate of garbage thrown at me? So where was the really good chef that day? If you can't assure qualified chefs are in your kitchen then don't even open for business! I'm never ordering from here again. Good luck to anyone that does! read more

Had several wonderful meals while staying in Florham Park. Family owned and run. Excellent service and menu.

The food is incredibly good. The hot and sour soup is hot!! The shrimp entrees are terrific. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Honestly, hands-down, the best Chinese food I've ever had! The staff was super friendly, and the food was delicious. All the food tasted homemade and not fatty or greasy or too salty. When I woke up, I was able to see that I had ankles, and that they didn't morph into my calfs. Food was flavorful and fresh and the atmosphere was beautiful. It used to be an old-school Chinese restaurant, and the colors were very dark red and old-school. Treat yourself to this amazing restaurant.! read more

The Chinese food at this charming cafe in Madison is terrific! Fresh, authentic and well prepared. Service is great and the owner is charismatic and knowledgeable! We have been there twice and look forward to our next visit to keep exploring the menu. Excellent food! Good portion size. Staff was very attentive. Recommend making a reservation. Definitely recommend!

Exceptional- great menu and great service! Take out was fast and reliable...great luck to the owners..

Christmas Day dinner, ordered online and was given a pickup time in 20 minutes. Went to pick up and the place was mobbed, no system, about 50 people standing around a waiting. Left and came back an hour later and still a mob of ppl with no ability to estimate when the order will be done. It's been 2 hours since I ordered and no communication. No apologies, no explanations, no estimate if wait time. The most disorganized place ever. Not worth it. read more

I had such a fantastic Sunday lunch at Dao Madison. It was hands down the best Chinese I've had in New Jersey/NYC. All of the familiar favorites were perfection (soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, crab rangoon), and the duck was so yummy. The family service was so friendly. Can't wait to return! read more

Stopped at this cute little family owned restaurant for lunch on a lazy Sunday. The place was busy but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Staff were so friendly and the service was amazing. We ordered the Shanghai soup dumplings, Dao's short ribs, crispy orange shrimp and the chicken mala dry hot pot. Everything was so delicious we forgot to take pictures! read more

Very friendly surface. Food was uniformly. Excellent. We've been there three times and had a great meal each time.

After a few good dining experiences at the Dao with small group, for our family Christmas diner of 10 people, we decided to give Dao a try. It was the most wonderful chinese food that we can found in this area! The quality, taste and the presentation can be measured even withNYC Chinatown! We ordered a cold appetizer with 6 variety of Shanghaiese style delicacy, then we have a seafood soup, crispy shrimp, pork chop with tangy sauce, peking duck, braised beef short ribs, a pea pot vege dish and a whole fish with pungent sauce, a noodle dish and then finished off with a dessert almond soup. Owner Steven was most helpful and Jeasica and the staff provided excellent services. They even accommodated my vegetarian daughter with a moo Shi vege served during our Peking duck course so she can "wrap" the food in the steaming hot wrapping pancake with the table. Such great food and experience and we surely be back again soon. PS- the place is so well run that even the restroom is very pleasant and clean. read more

Dao Madison - Chicken Fried Rice (L) - Chinese Near Me - Madison, New Jersey

I ordered from here for the first time and will not order from them again. The food is horrible; the fried rice is undercooked and feels uncooked, the general tso chicken is bland, and the chicken with broccoli is the same. I had to throw it out for fear of catching a food bug on something. Very terrible experience. read more
