My husband and I went here for dinner the other night and the food was great! Starting with the stuffed artichokes and then my husband had the veal parmigiana which was the best we ever had. Very tender and almost melted in your mouth. I had the sea bass with the escarole which also was superb! read more

I came here Friday night after being told that Fontana di Trevi was fully booked for the night (also in Leonia). I hadn't set foot in Dante's since I was a kid (lots of memories of Dante's pizza growing up) and I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. The interiors haven't changed much over the years, but the day to night-time atmosphere is completely different. During the day it might appear just as your grab and go pizza joint, but at night it's a very nice sit-down family restaurant (read: adult family....BYOB!). The tables were maybe half-full....? So no worries about wait time. We brought our own wine, and ordered the zucchini sticks, zuppa di mussels, tri-color salad, and veal scampi (one of the specials). Overall, nothing was *mind-blowing* but definitely a lot better than I expected (again, I remember this place as a pizza joint). Zucchini sticks were piping hot, mussels were a bit small but sauce was extremely savory (dip in your complimentary bread/garlic knots), tri-color salad was actually VERY good--fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the veal scampi was the perfect homey entree. Note: for two people, we had quite a bit of leftovers. Also, shout out to the servers--great attitude, always checking in on us, never pushy--even shook our hands at the end of the meal, which is a first for me. Definitely come here for a comfortable, easy-going night out. The service, food and atmosphere makes this a stand-out place. read more

Very nice Italian restaurant with very delicious menu choices. Their pizza is delicious and different from other stores in the area. Makes me want to order it over and over. The outside dining is very accommodating and is very cozy. Will come back again! read more

beautiful outdoor dining area, delicious food and always premium customer service. As far as food, chicken wings are excellent for kids and adults, not to mention delicious halibut, pasta, chicken, salmon, lamb and the portions are unbelievable for family of any size. Thumbs up to a new owner. read more

Delicious meal and excellent service. Tons of food for your money. And their new outdoor dining set up is creative

There's a reason why this place has been around for 20 plus years. I've been coming here since the beginning. Great food great people great hometown spot read more

After bothering Dante himself all week, I had my boyfriend's surprise birthday dinner of about 20 people here this past Friday night. Dante's just gained 20 more customers. This BYOB Italian restaurant is a gem in an area that is losing original restaurant charm and falling prey to chains. Dante personally will ensure that you are enjoying your visit and even decorated the table before my party got there! The food is fresh and delicious. And prices include a salad and a side dish. Most places will give you maybe one or two pieces of thin chicken francese. Dante's gives you four or five decently sized pieces of chicken. I am so excited to try their pizza. If it's anything like their delicious chicken francese, crazy good calamari and refreshing salad - it's bound to be one of the best in the area. TRY IT! With entrees under $20 delivered with a family feel, you've got nothing to lose :) read more

I wish that I had a more positive review for this restaurant because the owner's are great people, the service is spot on and it's a cute little place in my neighborhood. However, the food is really just okay and good enough for a quick bite because it's local but there is really nothing special. We've had some pasta, chicken and fish dishes and honestly it was on par with what you'd find at a half decent diner. We really don't like their entrees but we've had some pretty good pizzas so here is where they shine. read more

Absolute worst food and terrible service. Food is mediocre -- cold gross and extremely tasteless. Employees are a joke too. Saw multiple employees smoking outside right in front of the restaurant. Definitely do not recommend. People only go there because it's literally 1 out 2 restaurants in Leonia. read more

This place is great! The staff is very friendly and they always make things right. I've ordered take out and dined at this place for the past 4.5 years and it's always been the same, good food and people. read more

Have gone past this place a 1000 times and finally went in with a few people for dinner. Food, fantastic. Definitely some of the best Italian I've had in a while. Restaurant; the style needs to be updated badly. Looks like some place your grandparents go to eat. While that's fine for locals or repeats, if you want to continue to bring in more customers, then give the place a good updating not, an expensive one, just a basic one. read more

Enjoyed the bread basket and Caesar salad with chicken. Our party got a variety of dishes and taste was pretty excellent. Be aware that they don't split bills. When we asked the server said it was too late and we should have told him at the beginning. Not very accommodating towards guests. There were only three of us. Environment was pretty old school, not modern. read more

Cute little restaurant; one of the few non-Korean establishments on Broad Ave. Servers were attentive, the atmosphere is cozy, and they serve lots of seafood in their linguine (they don't skimp, hurrah!). Also, it's BYOB so be sure to bring a bottle with you if you're planning to dine here. I'll be back again. read more

I'm confused I live on long Island NY. I came here to meet family as a half way point. The place has over all good reviews the food was horrible I was with a party of 7, and everyone complained how horrible the food taste. It taste much different than any other Italian I've had. Very odd flavor. I've had amazing Italian food so like I said I don't get it oh and the portions are veryyyy Small. read more

My wife and I came here to eat years ago when we were house-shopping in the area to get a feel for the town. The homemade feel and friendliness of the owners really was quite refreshing. Since, I've learned that Dantes has been the to-go place for Italian food in Leonia for two decades. Sometimes that's not a positive, but in this case, they have only improved with the years. You will be served good, hefty portions of the Italian fare you'd expect, served with love. Unlike some places, their specials really are quite that: planned and prepared with thought and care. For some reason, I'd lived in town for ten years before I started ordering PIZZA from them, and although it is not in their name, Dante's should not be overlooked if looking for a fantastic pizza made-to-order, for sit down or delivery. They also have a small private space for special occasions, once the world gets back to normal. BYOB. Thank you to the crew at Dantes. - Mike & Laura read more

I usually visit Dante's for when my work colleague is in town. She loves the place and always wants to stop by here. Anyhow, friendly staff, food is good, and very big portions. The prices are very fair for the amount of food and quality. Drawback: parking is a little hassle read more

I would consider this place a gem in Fort Lee. My group and I were passing through from JFK and settled on dinner here. As I remembered it, it was a very warm and cozy place. The food was very good based on what my group said. I'd definitely come back again if I was in the area. read more

Quite literally the best chicken parm I've ever had (but everything on the menu is amazing). Dante and his crew are experts. Every experience has been nothing but positive and delicious. A must try. Cheers! read more

We have enjoyed so many meals at one of our favorite local places. Dante and his wife are so friendly and inviting. We have brought family and friends there and they too comment on the food. They have expanded their dining area and there is a nice vibe here. I love their softshell crabs when they have them. Check this great family restaurant out! read more

I was in town for work and stopped into Dante's with some coworkers for dinner. Fortunately, we were informed beforehand to BYOB, which isn't a problem considering there's a liquor store down the street. Anyway, we were greeted immediately by Dante, and immediately were offered a comfortable table in the dining room. The wait staff was fantastic, and the food even better - authentic Italian with rich, hearty portions. All of us enjoyed our meals, and agreed that we'll certainly be back. Thanks, Dante and team! read more

This is an excellent place for dinner or catering. Been going here for years. You get what you want the way you want. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have never been disappointed by any experience at this restaurant. I generally don't write reviews but after reading some on yelp I felt it necessary to respond. There are people who are negative on all of their reviews and this is sad. Try this place and you will not be disappointed. read more

Just got delivery from here for the first time. The food is absolutely outstanding. I've never visited in person because they don't have a liquor license and I'm the kinda guy that likes a Manhattan or 3 before and with dinner. Doesn't matter. Once the world returns to normal I'll visit and just bring a flask. read more

I wish I could give a better rating, as the staff was generally friendly, food was okay (their pizza is actually great), and the interior was nice and spacious. However, I feel as though the establishment is not transparent about the prices as they should be; waiter who took our orders conveniently didn't mention that the seafood pasta, which isn't on the menu but served upon request, is DOUBLE the price of those on the menu (~$15). Without knowing this, I made an order for it along with a pizza ($15), and the total came out to be $58 --- for a rather bland tasting pasta and a pizza!!! I didn't want to make a scene out of it so I quietly paid for it and just left. I don't think we'll be coming back here. read more

Italian restaurant located in a small strip mall. Food's okay. You get a salad with your entree. Waitstaff aims to please. The owner's wife makes a delicious tiramisu. BYOB. read more

Great food, big portions, great service. A little pricy but then again it's location is expensive.

In addition to take-out, Dante's is now serving dinner outside, in an attractive space they have created with large green plants, shady umbrellas, tables with spotless white linen tablecloths, and music playing from inside the restaurant. The food was delicious, just perfect! I had veal with prosciutto in a wonderful sauce, with pasta and a tossed green salad. The portions are huge; I was glad to bring half of my dinner home. It's not easy for restaurants right now, but Dante's has created a pleasant and relaxing outdoor space with first-class food. I will be going again soon. read more

Each time I visited there, I was served well because all the staffs are excellent. In this shop, Dante has been serving decent Italian food for years now. we could always meet Dante when I went in to eat. This is a good place for locals, Dante and his staffs always welcome my family. read more

Seriously amazing food and great service. The owners are also amazing and become your friends. Such warm people and good times. Everyone should go here if they love Italian food! Highly recommended read more

The ppl here are so rude my friends eat there all the time and tht live it but me I can't eat certain foods and when then menu says whole wheat thts the only thing I can eat they lie to me every week about getting the order in... And when I asked who orders the food so I can get tht pasta the guy has the nerve to have a major attitude!!! My friends spend a lot of money here and I am willing to pay for the pasta but I see my money isn't appreciated here... So I will go to muscle maker grill and I'll find a place in the Bergen county area tht has it because I will refuse to support this type of place tht cold disrespects paying customers!!!! read more

Stay away from this place! My wife and me ordered take out today, pasta Carbonara and chicken Frances, two of the simplest item that you can get at any average pizzeria, the food was dry, and when I mean dry it means no sauce at all, returned to the restaurant for a refund and the owner was very nasty. Trust me, Stay away from this place. read more

Restored my faith in good Italian food. Family oriented and you can bring your own wine and beer :) Get chicken francese or Marsala

I just paid $17.00 for a pathetic salad and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I walked in and ordered an arugula salad after seeing one on their lunch menu that came with cheese, nuts and the works. So I ordered the arugula salad with chicken on top. They charged $17 for this measly pile of arugula, 2 tomato wedges and a scrawny chicken breast. Never again. read more

This place has both great and bad reviews. I took a chance, and I can say that tge place is ok. The dishes were (pastas and chicken), but I can sense why many dont like this place. If you conplain about something, which I did, they come off a bit gruff about the situation. They shouldnt take it personally, stuff happens. Nobody is perfect, and not every dish or meal is made to perfection. Let's keep that in mind. read more

Good food. Service ok. Owner a prick. He needs to stay in the kitchen where he belongs. Wait staff shook my parents down for extra tip without reproducing the bill so they could figure it out. He just demanded an extra ten dollars. Similar incident on Mother's Day we closed out a twenty party check half our party already left and staff comes back and says they forgot to add food to the bill. We tried to explain that they closed the check out and most of us had left but owner or manager didn't want to hear it, was not flexible, and it got a little ugly. And we were not given the bill again to examine it. Don't go here. Try somewhere else. Owner is a bad business man. read more

Delicious food, friendly and efficient service. Calamari was a decent portion with some veggies, sole francaise with vegetables was nicely prepared, generous pizza toppings. Highly recommended! read more

I tried be mushroom and artichoke toppings while my wife tried the green peppers and onions. Both pizzas were cooked well and had a semi authentic New York field to it. We have been trying to go the local business Road as the local Domino's and Papa John's both had a fresh smell to us. The delivery was prompt but carried a $5 charge. Their prices are also slightly higher but it is acceptable since it is Northern New Jersey, I guess. read more

My favorite Italian place in Bergen County! The owners as well as the staff are lovely people who make you feel like you're home. They have authentic Italian food and will always have you coming back for more. My family has had them cater our parties for years and they never disappoint. My top suggestions are the gnocchi and Sofia Loren ravioli dish (Have to ask for) The portions are quite big so it's worth the price. Oh and a delivery app picks up food from them and delivers it to you now! read more

I didn't go to dantes for years because Dante used to shoo away my friends and I if we dared to hang out in front of Happy market or whatever it was called then. We didn't have cell phones Dante, or Dunkin donuts! I have long since forgave him and Dantes is now my go to Pizza place in the area. iI's just good, and reliably so. Very rarely have I been unhappy with an order there. Now that I am over 18, all the staff are very friendly! I've had a few other dishes there, and they're pretty good as well. I do wish that the online menu would be updated, as mistakes have been made when I have tried to phone in my order and the gentleman on the other end found the idea of French fries with cheese very perplexing. That is okay, dantes is still aces in my book. read more
