I placed an online order for two 30" pizzas for a party, totaling $173.17. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that this business is closed. When I arrived to pick up my order, there was a notice on the door stating that the business had been seized for not paying taxes. Now I have to dispute the charge with American Express to get my money back. It's extremely frustrating to be charged for an order from a business that is no longer operating. I find myself in South Houston often and as a result, I am also eating Dan's Pizza fairly often as it's the pizza of choice for many of the gatherings I attend. It wasn't until I was asked to pick up the pizza that I came across one place and two signs. I essentially dumbed it down to: * Dan's Pizza Co: Takeout pizza. * Dan's Pizza Parlor: Same thing but with beer, a bar, a dine-in restaurant with sports on TV, and shared staff. They are among most popular pizza spot in this region of the city and for good reason: the food is hearty, the service is friendly, and they have one of the most extensive menus I've seen. In addition to a slew of pizza combinations, there are sandwiches, calzones, stromboli, pastas, and plenty of wings. Their pizzas are on the doughier side, so there's more to every bite. They also come in all kinds of sizes, from a personal (small) that is 10" all the way to a XXXL at 30". They even have a "pounder pizza" section where the supposedly "largest pizza in Houston" is the Dan-O-Saur at a hefty $90 with all the toppings. I haven't tried this yet, but I'm committed to doing it, along with the Carnivore which has a palty 14 toppings. I am going to make this happen one day soon (#1). Their specialty pizzas alone offer an impressive array of topping combinations that include a "Surf and Turf" consisting of shrimp, chicken, garlic, bacon, pineapple, and goat cheese (?). There's also a "Jamaican Me Crazy" that has grilled or fried jerk chicken, red onions, roasted garlic, pineapples, mozzarella, and goat cheese. Even a "Chicken Teriyaki Broccoli" that has all of those things but doused in alfredo sauce with pineapple, mozzarella and cheddar. In NYC circles, this would be considered an abomination but somehow here in in this part of Houston? It just works. It's a lovely neighborhood spot, family-friendly, and a quality addition to any casual gathering. Ordered from here specifically to get anchovies on a pizza since I was craving them.. picked up my pizzas, got home, opened them up, and mine, the one that was supposed to have anchovies, had no damn anchovies. Called Dan's and they explained they have been out of anchovies for a bit. Why didn't you tell me that when I ordered Dan? Then they offered me $1.60 refund.... No Dan, keep the $1.60 but just know I would have ordered somewhere else if I knew you were out of anchovies (which is perhaps why they neglected to mention it, but that's a bad way to do business....) read more

Despite hearing rave reviews from locals, the pizza was just "ohhh-kaaay". It felt a little sauce heavy and the flavors were "fine," but nothing to make me want to rush back to Houston to grab another slice. However, the service was outstanding. We were disappointed in our recent visit to Dan's. It was definitely a different experience, and not consistent with previous visits. This has always been a great place for pizza and drinks. We ordered the carnivore, which was as we remembered, very good. The Jamaican Me Crazy pizza was very sauce heavy, and seemed to be missing the goat cheese. I have ordered takeout from Dan's, a few times, with this evening, being the most recent. I just had to leave a long overdue review! I don't live close, so I usually phone in an order when I'm leaving Baybrook or Sam's, and by the time I arrive at Dan's, it's hot and ready. I'll admit, so far, I've only ordered one thing,... the Healthy Heart Pizza. It is ah-mazing!! Piled high with veggies, feta cheese, garlic and olive oil. Usually, I also add anchovies. It has a delectable crust that's crisp but chewy... It is the BEST pizza I've ever had! I absolutely love it! It is worth the 22 minute drive, even when I order from home - it's just that good! My mom ordered a specialty pizza for her birthday because it's one of the few places that gives goat cheese options. And we have ordered from Dan's several times in the past, but me and my dad ordered 3 gyros and not a single one came with Tzatziki sauce, even though it says it comes with it online. My dad called and the lady that answered acted like you had to ask for it and she said it doesn't come with it and I told her it's on their website and to go check their own site. Also, who in the world eats gyro without tzatziki??? ‍ We live over 15 minutes away so when the girl offered for us to pick it up that wasn't an option as my parents were already hungry and didn't want to wait another 30 minutes to get something. After he said that she just apathetically said "oh... sorry" and a long pause, no offer for compensation on a future order or refund for something that was not only THEIR mistake, but tried to play it off like it doesn't come with it. Especially when they were pre-tipped $10 for not a super big order. Your employees should look at their own website. My dad has ordered their gyro before and never had an issue with this. If this is the new Dan's then we will never be going back. All that not to mention the fries were cold (and I was only about 5 minutes past the pickup time) and the wings were overcooked. Very disappointing! Forgot to add. As you can see from the receipt and picture, 2 of the Gyros I asked for extra beef and they clearly were not and exactly the same amount as the 1 without extra. Omg I love this place, not only is the food amazing but I love the ambiance as well. Everything I've ever had here I loved. The pizza is so so good and they have so many different combinations that you can try. The same with the wings. So many different flavors. There was live music the day we went and he was doing requests. It was my boyfriends birthday and this is where he wanted to go because he loves it so much so the live music was an added bonus. I have never had an issue with Dan's Pizza until this evening. We ordered two Chicken Fettuchini Alredo's and when they were delivered, I noticed a disctint odor from the chicken after opening the lid. I put a piece of chicken in my mouth and yes it was bad and spit it out. My dissapointment is when I called and told the person on the phone, all I wanted was to be refunded the amount to my credit card for those two dishes, instead he refused and gave me a credit to use next time I order, which will never be again. This is crazy, you send out bad food and you can't get a refund. This is the end of the line for me with Dan's Pizza, there is quite a few other good pizza places to order from, but tonight I am out 11.99 X 2 plus taxes. I opened the box and there was literally a piece that had one and a half pieces of pepperoni and the cheese was about an 1/8 inch thick on the entire pie. Last time I was in there a couple months ago, a third of the beer wall was not working and I paid cash for my food. My complaints are not about the food, but about the new management that took over in Late October. They don't run Cards in a timely manner (the charges are reversed and then run again about a week later). We used to go to Dan's frequently and, after a couple of not so great visits, we had not been back for a few months until today. We thought we would give it another chance. They were understaffed. Pizza was not what we expected. Hardly any cheese and, what few ingredients were on it, were only in the middle. It was mostly crust. The salad was about 1/2 the size it was in the past. My family and I decided to try this pizza place for lunch. As we walked in we were seated right away. The waitress was cool and she gave us menus right away. We took some time and then ordered. We ordered some regular bread sticks with marinara sauce to start off with. The bread was well seasoned and hot when she brought it to us. The marinara sauce was really good. It was thick but when you dip your bread in it it's a good combination of flavors. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with a side of potato chips. The chips were good. They tasted as they should. The sandwich was decent. The bread was a little large for the chicken but the chicken was tender and the marinera sauce was good but it made the sandwich soggy. My friend had mentioned Dan's a while ago and I finally had the chance to check it out. Called Saturday evening for a pick up order and they were veryyyy busy. I ordered a large pepperoni with cheese stuffed crust. I was told it would be ready in 20min for pick up. Dan's was easy to spot in a shopping center with plenty of parking available. I was very surprised to see their have a parlor side for sit down. Staff was friendly upon pick up and pizza was still hot. I had no idea what to expect as pizza can be a hit or miss, but was very pleasantly surprised! Chicken bacon ranch on thin crust was a 8/10, you can never go wrong with chicken bacon ranch!! Maui wowie was a 5/10, it was basically an extreme cheese pizza with a few pieces of meat and pineapple.
