Like many customers, I felt reassured when I walked into the shop and saw numerous bridal gowns in the store AND I read the cusotmer reviews before I brought my dress. I believed my expensive designer gown would be in experienced hands. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I brought my gown to Scissor Bird Alterations to be taken in on the sides and hemmed for my son's wedding. The side alterations were acceptable, but the hemming was not. The first time I picked up my dress, I immediately noticed that the new hem was clearly visible all the way around the gown. Instead of preserving the original look of the dress, there was an obvious stitched line that changed its appearance. When I questioned it, Marta told me that this was how the original hem looked. I showed her photographs from the designer's website, which clearly showed that the original gown did not have a visible stitched hem. After seeing the photos, she agreed to keep the dress and rework the hem. I was so concerned that I returned the very next day because I no longer felt comfortable with the alterations. I was considering taking the dress elsewhere, but Marta reassured me that she could correct the issues, so I trusted her and left it with her a second time. When I picked up the dress again, the visible stitching had been improved, but the hem was now puckered and uneven in multiple places. Marta told me to take the gown to a professional dry cleaner to have it pressed, explaining that the pressing would allow the hem to lay flat. In all my years of having clothing altered, I have never picked up a garment from a tailor that was not ready to wear. I followed her recommendation and paid to have the gown professionally pressed and cleaned. Unfortunately, the professional pressing did not correct the puckering or uneven hem. I also had to pay to have the gown professionally cleaned because the hem had become noticeably dirty during the alteration process. My shoes, which I wore only during my fittings in the shop, were also dirty on the bottom. With my son's wedding only days away, I sought a second opinion from Pinpoint Alterations. They opened the hem to inspect the previous alteration work because the puckering could not be corrected by pressing alone. Watching another tailor carefully take apart an expensive designer gown in an attempt to salvage it just days before my son's wedding was heartbreaking. After I contacted Marta again, she offered to inspect the dress. I appreciate that she made the offer, but by that point another inspection was not what I needed. I had already given her the opportunity to correct the work, followed her recommendation to have the gown professionally pressed, and the results had not changed. What concerned me most was not simply that the alterations did not turn out well, but that the dress was presented to me as finished despite workmanship that I immediately questioned. The visible stitched hem was apparent the first time I picked it up, and after it was reworked, the puckering and uneven hem were also evident. As a customer, I expected an expensive designer gown to leave the shop in a wearable condition--not require professional pressing and cleaning before I could even consider wearing it. The photographs clearly show the condition of the hem, and despite knowing I was dissatisfied from the very first pickup, there was never an offer to refund the alteration charges or help cover the additional expenses I incurred trying to make the dress wearable, including professional pressing, professional cleaning, and a second alterations specialist. I understand that every seamstress may occasionally encounter a difficult fabric. I am actually angrier with myself for trusting her with my dress. This was one of the most important garments I have ever purchased because it was the dress I planned to wear for my son's wedding. Instead of feeling excited for such a special occasion, I spent the days leading up to it trying to save a dress that I had entrusted to a professional. I sincerely hope my experience helps others make an informed decision before entrusting an important garment to this business.

It is immaculate, modern, and well maintained, it has an excellent location and great parking, and on the day I was there it was cared for by a wonderful attendant (a blonde woman whose name I did not learn) who was constantly cleaning and providing help to everyone who needed it. I assume it is not the cheapest laundromat in Bend, but every penny has clearly been reinvested in the the machines, the facility, and the service. And the money is going to good people, because the attendant told me that the owners are the nicest people she has ever worked for. Laundromats aren't normally the most enjoyable places, but I will actually look forward to the next occasion when I need to use the services of Washable Laundry!

I don't know if it's reasonably priced for the area or not but I just needed to wash a king size comforter and it cost me just under $11 to wash (I paid a little extra for an additional rinse cycle) and $3 to dry for one hour. The parking lot is really small and street parking is a hot commodity, with the food truck and tap room spot across the street, but I found a spot in the Washable parking lot right when I pulled in on a Saturday afternoon! (I tend to have really good parking karma). Speaking of the food truck spot across the street, THAT was a cool benefit of this laundry-mat; food and drinks while you wait?? Yes, please!

Dan's Pest Control is awesome! Dan is a good guy, does an outstanding job taking control of a very undesirable situation. I mean why would it be called pest control if they were not pests. We did not know we had a mouse problem. Not all that unexpected living in the country I understand. But when my wife opened the dishwasher to load after dinner and there were two in there "pre-cleaning" for us. Well Sunday evening or not - time to find an exterminator. Dan's outstanding reviews led us to him and I promise, they are absolutely true. Dan responded to my email quickly with a quote and explanation of his typical procedure to control the rodents. He had an opening on Monday morning. Perfect! When he arrived we did a walk around where he is peering into cracks and crevices, looking under the deck at the foundation etc he confirmed his plan and went to work diving into the crawl space. When one of the critters appeared upstairs he sprang into action and cornered it, then caught it by hand. Placing it into a metal box he let us know that this little guy would be set free (my wife made sure it would be a good distance from our home). He also let us know the rest that were residing below would have to perish. After that first trip - no more mice. He will make 4 trips out to our place to check his trap line, removing any that have indeed managed to evade his original trip. He has sealed all those access points with metal mesh, gravel AND sealant (not just the spray foam the previous owners seemed to think would be sufficient) so no new unwelcome visitors are able to gain access to the crawl space. His rate for this service including 4-5 visits is very reasonable, he is very thorough, even providing photos of what he discovered underneath the house. I would give Dan 10 stars for his service if it were possible. Thank you Dan, thanks to you, my wife is able to sleep soundly once again . read more

The ants finally beat me! I'm a VERY stubborn person, and we have lived in our house for 21 years. We have been dealing with 2-3 massive winged ant infestations every year, and the people before us did as well. We have tried MANY DIY way's of getting rid of them. A couple years ago - we re-did our floors in tile, and replaced our front entry way and was pretty sure that we would never see ants in the house again! WRONG! First hot week in the spring - here they came! I finally cried Uncle! I'm not much for advertising, I trust referrals from known friends better, and when my friend told me at how Thankful they were to find Dan's Pest Control, and that he took care of their problem and that he was a nice guy - I figured I'd try him, as I was finally done beating my head against the ant wall! We had Dan come out before the first infestation could occur this year, and it has been SO AWESOME to NOT see my front entryway and door covered in black winged ants! It is August - and we would have typically been on our 3rd cycle of them by now! We were so happy with Dan's professionalism, and knowledge. He was very courteous, and we had no worries that our cat's and dog's would be harmed or in danger of any chemicals, as he was very careful with the application process. Our daughter has a void beneath her driveway that extends under the paved street in front of her house. It recently became home to a large collection of bad-tempered yellow jackets. I called Dan and he made an appointment for the next day. and solve the problem. A next day appointment is unheard of, but apparently not for Dan. He came by that next morning, suited up, aggravated the nest, and then sprayed the entire region in the void, powdered the entrance, waited ten minutes or so, and then repeated the spray. By this point only a few yellow jackets were around, so he told us to avoid the area for a day or so and then check it again after that time. If they have returned we are to give him a call and he will return and give them a second helping - at no extra charge! Then for good measure he gave them one more spray. There is a reason that all of Dan's reviews are five-star. Every one is deserved. If such a service is needed again, he will be the only one we will call. I can't imagine a more thorough, thoughtful, and competent person is available for such important work as clearing away nasty critters like this. read more

Dan, the owner & operator of Dan's Pest & Wildlife Control, has come to two different homes that I have owned in the past year to address rodent issues. On the visit today, he came to look for rodents I thought I heard under my house. After doing a thorough inspection of the exterior of my home he fixed a couple of areas where rodents could possibly enter even though there was no evidence of rodents. He next went under the house through the crawlspace and looked for signs of rodents. He did not find any signs of rodents. He was at my house for almost two hours and charged me a very reasonable rate for his time. He is very conscientious in his work and pleasant to work with. Dan is a super hero! We called on a holiday weekend, (of course), and were absolutely surprised to have him call back saying he was coming down this way and he'd stop by. We woke up to carpenter ants in the kitchen. We were sure that we wouldn't hear from anyone until Tuesday,as it was a holiday weekend. Dan came out surveyed the areas and make suggestions as to what to do. He showed up on time and took care of the problem. They were coming from a tree in the far back corner of property. They certainly had a highway coming to the house. By the end of the day we didn't see any more. Next morning we had a few that came and that was it!!!! Dan is the MAN! I emailed him this morning after a mouse sauntered out from under my ottoman, crossed the living room floor into the kitchen, grabbed a beer from the fridge, came back, and changed the channel I was watching. Well, only some of that happened, but anyway, Dan called me 10 minutes later and was at my house within an hour. After just an hour and a half, I already feel better about the icktastic mouse situation here. He secures copper mesh in compromised crawl spaces, places traps under the house, and comes back 2 or 3 more times to make sure he has gotten rid of all mice. This is exceptional service. I called Dan based on the YELP reviews I read...found a yellow jacket bees nest in the backyard. Because yellow jackets create their hives underground, I had no idea how big the hive would be. Dan arrived an hour earlier than predicted and was courteous and well prepared. He explained everything clearly and I immediately felt comfortable!! And he's BRAVE!!! When he started "uncovering" part of the hive to spray he had to run because those yellow jackets are fast!! But, he was not deterred and went back with a vengeance!!! He was awesome!! Dan was great! He was very pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable. He quickly determined that the pest we were dealing with at our house was a squirrel. He no longer has the special permit required to eliminate squirrels from houses, so was not able to take care of them for us. But he told me how I could find someone who does have the required permit. He was very generous with his time, anyway. He spent time explaining to me what to look for and going around the entire perimeter of our house to look for places where the squirrel could get under our house All at no charge to me! He removed our mice, sealed (several, unknown) entry points into our home to deter future infestation, and did it all with professionalism and a smile. I called Dan with a suspected mouse problem. He was punctual, professional and extremely helpful. He determined the problem wasn't mice, but probably bats. He then thoroughly inspected the perimeter of the home and checked the crawlspace. He found some entry points for the bats, and potential entry points for mice. He gave me some great advice about how to secure the home from mice and offered advice about how to deal with bats if they are still present when out of hibernation. I called Dan's Pest Control during a remodel. He looked around the crawl space and knew right away there was an pack rat problem. He set out traps, repaired a screen, and blocked out areas he believed they were accessing through to my crawl space. He's very knowledgeable and promptly returned all of my call or emails. He caught 3 pack rats in my crawl space(ugh!). One of them took Dan multiple trips and traps to catch, but he was persistent and caught the rat. Since then I haven't heard any more noises coming from the crawl space. His pricing is fair, and I would definitely recommend his services for Pest Control. Dan was amazing. I called with a severe carpenter ant problem and he came out right away. He met me at my house in the evening because it was convenient FOR ME. He quickly assessed the problem. He was respectful and polite. He said that the product wouldn't have full effect until 30 days, but we have not seen a single ant since the second day after treatment. He has a full year guarantee and said to give him a call if we need him before a year at no charge. It truly is as good as it gets!!! We called Dan 2 years in ago to treat our property for ants, he was prompt, efficient & got rid the ants. Last year we noticed some indications of a possible return of the ants, we called Dan & he was prompt, efficient & no ants since then. I called Jim and told him I thought I had rats in our walls. He told me that this was probably not…read morethe case and it was most likely mice and gave me his talk about mice etc. I hired him to come out and take care of our problem. When he was here I told him again that I thought it was rats, but he gave me the talk about mice. He put some detour stuff on a couple openings in the foundation area and set 2 mouse traps (1 in my crawl space and 1 in the house). I told him that I have never seen rodents or evidence of them in my house, but he told me that it was best to put one anyways. I kept hearing the noises in the walls throughout the weekend, so I went to check the crawl space trap. I opened up the door and saw no mice in the trap, but he did set the trap next to rat droppings and a partially decomposed rat that had been caught in a snap trap. He never mentioned to me that he saw this while setting the mouse trap. When I called him to say what I found he told me he never saw evidence of rats. I am not a professional, but I saw the evidence right away when I opened up the crawl space. I have asked him what he is going to do to make this right since as a professional he should have seen the evidence and talked to me about my options, but he just wants to keep telling me how he didn't see any evidence of rats and he wants to keep talking to me about mice.
