Danny & Coop's is a renowned takeout-only cheesesteak spot in NYC's East Village, co-owned by actor Bradley Cooper and Angelo from Philadelphia, who also owns Angelo's Pizzeria. It's famous for its authentic Philly-style cheesesteaks featuring thinly sliced ribeye, Cooper Sharp cheese, and griddled onions on a seeded roll. The menu is straightforward, centered on the cheesesteak, with options for sweet or hot peppers, and drinks like Boylan's Root Beer. I've had Danny & Coop's bookmarked for a while, and when I finally visited, the place was bustling. Despite the tight space, the experience is absolutely worth it. When I arrived, there was no line, so I ordered quickly. They sent me a text when my order was ready, which took about fifteen minutes. The cheesesteak was outstanding. At first glance, I thought the bread might be hard, but it was perfectly soft and, without doubt, the ideal bread for a cheesesteak. The seeds added an earthy, nutty flavor. The beef had a deep, rich flavor, emphasizing high-quality ingredients. The rib-eye meat was exceptional, and although the Cooper Sharp cheese and bread were excellent, the rib-eye truly stole the show. The cheese was flavorful but not overpowering. The onions added great texture, and the sweet peppers brought a pleasant acidity that enhanced every bite. The sandwich costs twenty-five dollars but is definitely shareable. Though I haven't tried many cheesesteaks in New York, this is the best I've ever had. Customer service was excellent, and the cheesesteak was simply outstanding. I would gladly travel from Connecticut again to enjoy Danny & Coop's.

Absolute fire cheesesteak so so massive it was spilling out when youd eat it. Got the hot peppers too which definitely made it so much better but it was great on its own regardless. Loved the bread a lot.

Came on a Tuesday at around 1. No line to order, but took around 15 mins to get the sandwich. Thought it was very yummy and that the bread was especially good! Also big enough to share.

Bradley Cooper has a cheesesteak joint that people were lining up around the block for when it first opened? Say less! Had to try one of my favorite actor's spot. I went for the first time last year. Was there fairly close to opening time so the line wasn't insane. Ordered the cheesesteak with sweet peppers on the side. Pro tip: get your drink at the deli next door and eat at the park across the street. Fantastic sandwich. Generous with the meat and perfect bread. Was basically 2 meals for me. Went back my second time last week and price went from $18.50 to $24.50. Heard cashier said due to price increase of meat. I get it but that's quite a huge jump. Plus they now charge for the sweet peppers which sucks. Good thing the sandwich doesn't need it. I'd still get it if I was in the mood for it. Hopefully it's not $30 next time I go. Highly recommend.

The service was pretty good they let me order early . The cheese had good flavor, but I wasn't a fan of the type of cheese they used. Overall this is an open New York sandwich spot that encourages open setting communication

Delicious!! Two people can enjoy one huge Cheesesteak. Got sweet peppers on side (+.75) (4.10.26)

YES!!!!! My first visit, finally. April 10, 2026. Do one thing, and do it well!! And Danny & Coop's does--THEY DO CHEESESTEAK VERY WELL!!! No decisions to make, this is the one item on the menu. You do have the option to get a side of SWEET OR HOT PEPPERS, for 75 cents. These are in a small container, you may ask for a fork. I did. I got the sweet peppers. Enjoyed them. If you like sweet gherkins, you'll enjoy the sweet peppers! It was Friday, about 4pm, I walked right in, saw some people waiting for their orders, and I went directly to the front counter to order. That's the only counter to order at. :). Tyler was at the register. Service with a smile. Thank you patient Tyler at the register. I was lucky you were there! LOL. I thought I was totally prepared with cash, to be quick when ordering, but alas, what I "knew" to be a $20 bill in my little zip wallet, was a $5. Have you noticed this happening in your Wallet? LOL. The $20 bill turns into a $5. So, I knew I had more $5's. I just had to get them out. And, I am grateful for Tyler, Mr Cool at the register. Thank you for your patience and kindness. I'm also grateful the 2 people behind me were nice too. I also want to thank the nice person who brought out several orders, one of which was mine. Great friendly, helpful service. You have the option to get a text msg when your order is ready. Nice feature. Since it was nice outside, I decided to walk across the street to the large park, and sit on a bench to enjoy my Cheesesteak. There is a bench in front of Danny & Coop's but 3 women were enjoying a Cheesesteak. They were sharing one cheesesteak. And it is HUGE!! So, those were still nice portions from one Danny & Coop's Cheesesteak. Next time I'll try to bring a friend, because I still have half of my Cheesesteak left. But, by the time I get home, I bet I'll be able to finish it. So, YES, you should enjoy a huge cheesesteak here!! See my photos. My huge delicious cheesesteak was about $25.31, including my side of sweet peppers. I put some $ in the tip jar. I did not get a beverage. But, YOU can. Enjoy!

Danny & Coop's serves the absolute best cheesesteak I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, the cheese was incredible, and every bite lived up to the hype. This has officially become a must-stop spot whenever I visit New York. If you're looking for an authentic, unforgettable cheesesteak, this is the place. Can't wait to come back!

Very solid cheesesteak with an awesome vibe inside. Service was excellent and the cheesesteak itself had the perfect crisp from their toasted sesame roll and a generous amount of meat. It was a little overpowering with cheese but still solid.

    Taylor S.

Shocked to say I didn't love it?! It was good, but not amazing. I tasted cheese more than anything. I expected it to be more salty, meaty, and umami. I'd recommend getting the peppers for extra flavor.

Simple place with only one item on their menu. A cheesesteak, but a damn amazing one at that. You get a seeded roll with tender ribeye, cooper sharp cheese, and onions with an optional side of sweet or hot peppers add on. Zero substitutions. Honestly the perfect combination without feeling overly greasy, but crazy rich with the amount of cheese and steak you get. I'd recommend getting peppers to add another dimension to the flavors. Their bread also sets them apart from other cheesesteaks I've had. They are baked fresh in house daily with a nice crisp exterior loaded with sesame, but super soft inside and easy to bite into. The place was packed with people on a Sunday late afternoon waiting for their orders, but there was no line to order and it only took about 20 minutes to get my food. There is an overwhelming scent of smoke within the actual shop and standing countertops for those who want to eat in. I opted to eat on their singular bench outside in the cold to enjoy the hot masterpiece as fresh as possible. NY is lucky to have this establishment, easily a top cheesesteak anywhere.

Amazing. Got right in, waited about 10 minutes and burnt my entire mouth because I couldn't wait to let it cool. We were able to snag a spot at the railings, but a lot of people ate outside. Will def be back.

I went to Danny & Coop's for dinner, and it was fantastic! Definitely worth the hype and surpassed my expectations. Inside is cozy with ledges on the side to eat at, and service was very fast. I got my cheesesteak in five minutes and was excited to chow down! It was perfection. Not too cheesy, not greasy at all, meat perfectly tender. One of my best bites in the city!

And that line is no joke. You will wait. Plan accordingly. Here's my dilemma: every single time I eat here, my stomach lets me know about it later. Without fail. I've tried adjusting the hot sauce, going easy on portions... doesn't matter. Something about this food and my digestive system just don't agree. At this point I have to accept that it's probably not for me. So why do I keep coming back? Because at 2 AM after a late night, when everything else is closed and you're starving in Times Square, that platter of chicken and rice over white sauce smells like salvation. They're the only game in town at that hour, and honestly, in the moment, it hits. It's the next morning I regret it. If your stomach handles it better than mine, you'll probably love it. The food is tasty and the portions are huge for the price. I just wish I could enjoy it without paying for it twice.

I feel like this place is good, but the white sauce is what makes it. Would I wait another 50 minutes in line, again? Heck to the no - but 1 time? Yes, just to say I tried it. I came in line around 9:45pm and waited approx. 50 minutes before being served. the line just grows and grows.... it is crazy busy! I don't get the line concept here. Because while I was in a long line, when I get to the front, there's another line to the left of the truck... and people seem to be getting their food faster, and the line is like 2x shorter. So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

This is nothing like I've ever tasted with so many different textures going on. It hits you with spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, chewy and everything all at once.
