Wow is this spot great - they have an amazing sandwich that you should get. At $34 it probably isn't even making that much money because they use really great baguettes, crazy perfect caramelized onions, luscious steak, good amount of cheese, and just everything is so good. Is it annoying and hard to get in and worth the price? I mean it's the west village so yes to all of those, though you shouldn't be going ;like every day unless you want to have a heart attack. The limeade is a great pairing to the fatty rich sandwich, I didn't get the fries because I didn't want to split my sandwich and it was by far enough food, but if you want to make your money go further you can split the sandwich and fries. I would 100% get the horseradish sauce and jus, both are worth it. Vibes are that of a sandwich shop, think West Village version of a deli. Service is good and fast - they make one main item, it shouldn't be that hard. 4 stars because it's pricey and annoying, though food is 5 stars.

I agree. Top 5 sammuches n da city. If your a French dip fan @ all this must be on your bucket list. You got a hell of a sammuch if people get on the plane just to try it. BRUH NAN WOULD B SO PROUD!! Lol. The bread itself is crazy but they dip the bottom of it right before you get it wich makes it super soft and savory. Goes so well with the weeds. HEY...DONT JUJ ME.....I AINT DA ONE WHO MADE IT LEGAL ROUND HERE!! All da way in Dubai i can smelli it LMAO!!! Idk about these fries though. Just go with the regular or try sidewinder. Horseradish dipping sauce was good. Line out the door. But if you order to go it's much faster. 5 star Sammy dude. TRUST ME!!!

Went here because we had heard the rave. The line was outside and lasted about 30 mins which wasn't terrible to us. When we got in they took our order and sat us quickly. The food came out soooooo hot but lived up to the hype. It was enough for 2 people to share. The idea and vibe inside is super cool because you can see the kitchen so they are making the food in front of you!

Salt Hank specializes in one thing, the roast beef sandwich and they do it pretty well! The meat is tender, the sandwich is comforting, and it is abundant (definitely can split with someone else). It comes with a jus that is borderline salty but is still great for dipping. The fries are not what I'd expect (very crunchy small ones) but recommend getting that with their tart limeade. I came 11:00 am on a Saturday and was the first in line (maybe bc weather wasn't the best). I'm not sure I'd wait 30 minutes for this but I def recommend trying it at least once. The restaurant started filling up quickly. Prepare to be ushered out (understandably so) so the next guest can enjoy.

Pretty solid sandwich! The jou is quite rich and borderline too salty but that's the intention with this sandwich. You're gonna need a nap after eating this behemoth. I don't think you need to wait and just order takeout. Enjoy it in the parks in the neighborhood instead.

Legitly good. Au jus and the whole thing was delicious. Much better than I expected. $35 is a bit steep though.

As a sammich fiend, I am very glad I finally made my way to Salt Hank's! I was a bit busy, so I opted to go for take-out, but I do have to say I was very intrigued by the diner-esque feel inside - very welcoming and hospitable, so I'll definitely plan on sitting down next time. Now, down to the meat. The sandwich...is pricey. You can get a boatload of food for $34. But...this sandwich is legit. The meat is luscious, melt-in-your mouth goodness, the bread is fresh and hearty enough to stand up to the mound of meat, cheese, caramelized onions, and all the dipping au jus your heart desires. Speaking of the caramelized onions...good lord, I could eat bowl-full of that stuff alone. And the au jus is definitely on point - sooo much flavor, not super salty...just lovely. Needless to say, I definitely plan on returning for a sit-down meal and to try some of their sides and other offerings...but bottom line is, $34 is a lot for a French Dip...but if you want to treat yourself in a divinely-crafted sandwich with top-notch ingredients, this is a fiiiiine way to do so. Highly recommended.

Yummmmmm! I heard about this place from another foodie and I just had to try it! I came recently on a Saturday and there was little to no wait! You can check their lines on damnlines.com before heading over. Since there was only 5-7 min wait at the time I decided to go over and grab a sandwich! It's pretty packed inside at all times as people tend to order a full sandwich and eat in so the flavor retains and is the best experience you can get. Every seat is usually full but people tend to scarf it down by 8-10 min! I love French onion dip so this sandwich was a godsend. I think it's quite pricey for a sandwich at a whopping $38 so we shared it and reheated the second one the next day! The matchstick fries are actually so good and complemented the sandwich really well. I loved the prime rib inside and the French onion dip it came with which made the crispy baguette slightly wet, making the inside soft and flavorful but it maintained all the crisp on the outside. definitely one of my favorite baguettes that I ate in my life (for a sandwich) They said they only have this prime rib sandwich on the menu but sometimes will have the chicken parm so it's best to visit and check if you wanted to try something else! I definitely want to try it too!

Dined in May 27th. The staff are super nice and helpful here, and the food comes out quickly. The french dip was truly delicious and probably in my top three sandwiches in NY! Didn't get to try the fries as they were out by 2 PM on Wednesday, but splitting the sandwich was super filling. Bathroom was a bit of a mess with a bunch of pee on the seat, but I was just glad they had a bathroom to begin with that day as I needed one really badly. Ambience is casual - you can make reservations, but there was no wait when we walked in around 2 PM.

Took my sons on a mission to the legendary Salt Hank's in the West Village, where apparently one sandwich has achieved celebrity status. Now listen... when a French dip costs $34, you don't order it. You interview it first. We stood in line, sized up the competition, and finally got our hands on this beast. Piled high with prime beef, caramelized onions, melted provolone, and enough au jus to make grown men emotional. One bite in and the boys looked at me like I had just unlocked a secret level of fatherhood. Was it expensive? Absolutely. Did I briefly consider asking the sandwich about its retirement portfolio? Also yes. But sometimes memories with your sons are worth more than the price tag. Good food, great laughs, and quality time together in NYC. That's a win every time. Also the ambiance was prefect sandwich shop vibe Fatherhood lesson of the day: Teach your kids that life is about experiences. Also teach them that if a sandwich costs $34, they're helping Dad finish it.

One of the best sandwiches I've eaten all year!! They only really make one thing here and it's worth it. The space is small; we had a reservation at 2pm on a Sunday and sat at the counter. You order and then sit and they bring your food to you pretty quickly! The people here are so nice. This sandwich was incredible. The bread stayed together perfectly and the au ju was very hot and perfect for dipping. We got a lot of the toppings and ended up just eating them separately because the sandwich was so foo by itself! Loved how fresh the slaw is! Definitely worth coming here.

Came before it opened and there was already a line. The sandwich was good but I didn't feel like it justified the price. Without the dip I would have said it was dry but the dip really brings it all together. I found this fry style difficult to eat and didn't care much for it. I would say if you want to try it for the one time, just get the sandwich for takeout.

A solid option for a French dip sandwich in the west village! I do think the move is to go a little before the spot opens at 11:30. I was able to wait for 30 minutes to go in and get my sandwich. I will say the horseradish was a bit aggressive for me but the bread was such a good crunch and still soft and the horseshoe fries were like thin potato chips. The staff paced out people to come in and out of the restaurant so that there wasn't overcrowding and I appreciated it. The spot itself is pretty small too but since it's only one thing on the menu people order quickly and move on.

Decor/actual restaurant: This particular location is very small and tight with limited in-store seating. The interior is cute, I like the blue color theme they have here. Service: Like many "fast food adjacent" restaurants, the people who work there have good customer service but I imagine deal with the worst. I know they're doing great with the situation they're in. Kudos to them. Food: this is probably my harshest critique. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was fine. I don't believe it was worth the $16 I spent though. The chicken was kind of bland, tasted similarly to frozen grilled chicken pieces you buy from a grocery store. I do wish there was more sauce. The pesto tasted good but overall there was too much bread. I fear you would be better off making something like this at home for a comparable price. The bread was good, just too much. I don't want to base the menu on this sandwich alone, a lot of the menu options sounded delicious, but this was just the experience I had!

This thing is a monster, built on Parisi's legendary fresh-baked bread that somehow stays crisp, chewy, and perfect no matter how much goodness gets piled inside. You get a crispy breaded chicken cutlet layered with thin-sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and (if you know what you're doing) roasted red peppers. It's all brought together with their house balsamic blend and basil herb spread/pesto--bright, savory, and completely addictive. I cannot confirm or deny that the sandwich is named after me, but I can confirm it's flawless. Pro tips: * Cash only, old-school rules apply. * Come hungry or plan ahead--this sandwich is big enough to share or save half for later, and it still eats beautifully round two. * Tip the sandwich makers. These folks are artists, and the tip box deserves some love. Beyond the food, Parisi is living New York history. From its origins as an Italian bakery on Mott Street, to feeding generations of locals, to being famously beloved by Frank Sinatra (yes, the bread was shipped to California), this place is woven into the fabric of Little Italy/Nolita. Legends like De Niro and Scorsese are fans, and you can still feel that old-world soul--right down to the original brick oven relic resting in the basement. Parisi isn't just a deli. It's continuity. It's tradition. It's proof that when you do one thing incredibly well for over a century, people keep coming back. And once you've had The Dennis, you will too.
