A very basic place to go for breakfast and lunch. I went here for breakfast, food was good, staff were friendly and it obviously has a large local clientele as most of the customers were on a first name basis. The restaurant also has some nostalgic decor to look at while your waiting for your food to be prepared. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area. read more

Left a lot to be desired. After reading so many positive reviews I had high expectations. The service was okay, but not very attentive. It seemed like there were a few "regulars" there that got the staff's attention more than anyone else. They weren't super busy when I was there, maybe six other tables, but food took longer than expected to come out. I had Irish Benedict, and it was good, but the hollandaise sauce was very runny and lacked seasoning. The most disappointing part of the visit was towards the end, when one of the obvious regulars let her toddler start running around the restaurant screeching. The staff, instead of asking the mother to stop him, were encouraging the child by chasing him around and laughing about it, much to the dismay of myself and many other customers. I just retired after spending 50 years traveling and eating at least half my meals in restaurants - making me a self appointed expert. To me, the 3 cardinal rules for any restaurant are cleanliness, good food and good service. Because I live nearby, I was able to occasionally drop in while Mickie and Andrea were preparing to open. They have gutted the place and replaced, cleaned and painted literally everything including replacing the carpet, painting the walls and replacing the ceiling tiles. The place is immaculate. Andrea runs the kitchen and the food is superb. (The banana bread French toast is to die for). Mickie is a legend in this area and cracks the whip out front. She hired several of her former coworkers who she knew to be the best. Bottom line...this place is the standard by which all others should be judged. Great food served by friendly, attentive waitresses in a pristine setting. What more could you ask for? And finally, as a tribute to Mickie's late son Ryan, they also give a 10% discount to veterans, so bring your ID card. (A nice change up for us Vietnam guys.) read more

I have been in here a couple times and never had an issue until my last visit. My husband and I sat at the counter about a month ago and had breakfast here. The overall theme of this place is military and I thought he would like it because he is in the marines. But I noticed our server asking each table around us if they were military when she gave them the check. Then when it came time for ours she didn't ask us but everyone else. My assumption is that we look younger because she asked everyone but us. That is complete discrimination, if you're going to ask tables these questions then you need to keep it the same across the board. Not just ask people who look older. Just because we look younger does not mean someone hasn't been in the military when in reality he's been serving in the marines for the past couple of years. Won't be back.. read more

Very friendly staff but the food really depends on the day, and the prices are really high on some items. Ordered a fruit salad and got a bowl of day old melon and cantaloupe for $4. Have had some good meals here but also some terrible ones. read more

My favorite breakfast of all time is banana bread french toast, so yummy. Wonderful place, close to shopping. We go to breakfast then do our errands. Ive only had to wait once, on a Sunday morning when we slept late. Otherwise we get seated quickly. It's clean, fast, great staff and atmosphere. Generous portions. The only thing we wish they had were grits. We travel farther to Hampstead to get our breakfast grits. read more

So we came for breakfast and watched how its operating, the staff did not see where the importance of customer service was, need another cook for food service and a majority of the wait times open seats counter space then tell customers it will be 40 minutes. I've been in and around restaurants and also I deal with customer service as a contractor. People love when you acknowledge them, talk with them and reiterate that you will get seated as quickly as possible. Not sure who was in charge or who delegated the responsibility's. Not sure what was up the day we stopped here..maybe we are not locals and got served all that was old..? There were a number of people before and after us, and they all seemed pleased. I had a cheese omelette, that was not only beige in color, but fibrous in texture, and rubbery to chew. I had three bites. Never have I NOT eaten what has been served to me. The potatoes/home fries DID NOT TASTE GOOD. Again, I have always eaten a portion, if not all, of what I order. Extremely grossed out and felt guilty leaving the plateful! However this time the French toast and eggs both tasted bland and actually hardly touched my food even though I was hungry. May try again. Not sure what happened maybe a new chef ? This is the only breakfast place I'll go to locally. My type of atmosphere and a place for me to relax, enjoy breakfast and reflect.

This is by far one of the best breakfast places I have ever been to. The food was delicious and the home fries were so yummy and I was told by one of the owners that they are made fresh every morning. It was very busy when we arrived but we did not have to wait long to be seated. The restaurant is named after the owners son that died while serving our country he was only in his 20s so sad,but walking into the restaurant you can truly feel his presence as you look around and see different memorabilia that were once his. My husband and I had the hash and eggs with grilled English muffin and home fries everything was delicious. Looking around to see what other people had and the pancakes were the size of Hub caps. I could not finish what I had. We will be returning before our trip back to Florida in a few weeks. I wish this recently opened awesome restaurant all the luck in the world but I really don't think they need it because both owners have been working in restaurants for years so they know what people like and I can see from experiencing this restaurant first hand that they are going to be the best new restaurant around. Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The place was hopping, but we were able to grab seats at the counter thanks to the helpful hostess. My over easy egg was properly cooked, bacon was hot & crispy, and the dinner plate sized pancake (I went for plain, but various fruit and candy options were available) was a textbook definition of a tasty diner pancake. French toast was soft and pillowy on the inside and crispy on the edges with nice cinnamon flavor. Ham steak was a griddled, thick slice. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient! First time here. Went with my brother and nephew. First thing that caught our eye was all the veteran support. My other nephew is on active duty oversees so this really touched us. We took photos and sent to him and he loved all the veteran support. He can't wait to check it out when he is home on leave. Extremely clean, cheery restaurant and fantastic attentive staff. I moved to Epping in November and needed a new breakfast place, Ryan's seemed like a good choice. Over the past months I've been amazed at the thoughtful staff, great food and wonderful warmth I always feel at Ryans. Ryan's is named after the owners son, he passed away at a very young age serving this great nation of ours with pride . Based on the size of his mothers heart I'm sure he was an amazing young man and I'm always reminded of the importance of family as I look at the various photos of him around the place. In Addition, I personally appreciate the decor of Ryan's, the respect for all members of our armed forces is second to none, our nations flag is proudly displayed as well as a few great cutouts of some movie stars. I've heard that some people complain that they don't like Elvira or Fox News or the 1980 hair band music that plays, candidly I love it. I can literally think of dozens of places on the seacoast that will be to your liking. Part of what makes america great is our diversity, Ryan's in not for everyone, but we can all find a place that fits our personality's, beliefs and comfort. I can tell you 100% it's for me and I will continue to spend my mornings enjoying the early bird special for years to come.
