While people were busy honoring the first day of New Year's resolutions - totally realty based here - stopped off at Dang's and had what Has to be Long Island's p deadliest burger. Service is decent, a little slow but that doesn't matter really when you have good company. (And... you've gotta have at least decent company when youre going to a BBQ place!) Definitely could be quicker but the waitress was very friendly, very sweet so I can't complain. The ambiance is pretty simple, its a casual place youre just as at home in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt as you will be in a polo and jeans. We had a lovely lunch at Dang today! My sister, husband, son, and I arrived a little after 1 and it wasn't busy at all but by the time we went half the large dining room was full. They have a great lunch menu which I found to be extensive and very reasonably priced for the size and quality of the food. My husband had a Brisket burger melt, my sister had the Brisket gorgonzola wrap, and I had the buffalo chicken salad. We enjoyed all of our meals. For $13-15 you got an entree with a side and a soft drink plus chips to start too! Our waitress was great. They are party wings split into drums and flats -and a very good size. While we're talking about chicken, you're going to want the 1/2 bird... maybe some of the best chicken I've ever tasted. Every piece was juicy and delicious. The pulled chicken is also very good. Everyone is talking about how good the chicken is. Same for the turkey - characteristic turkey taste, delicious Let's talk about the apps and the sides. The giant pretzel comes with pimento and cheese sauces. The cheese sauce wasn't cooked enough to cook out the flour. But still a delicious shareable app. The burnt ends are also worth talking about. We had a few great chucks of burnt ends and a few chunks of pure fat. It's a good app. The macaroni and cheese is good too - unfortuantly your kids might not want to talk about it because it's a little heavy on the nutmeg and the aforementioned cheese sauce miss is noticable here too. Coleslaw and creamed spinach are good, some people might talk about those sides too. Let's not talk about the ribs, unfortunately. The babybacks are DRY! Maybe we got an old rack? I would not order them again. Babybacks are not forgiving on mistakes nor are they good for a smoke one day and reheat and serve on another. St. Louis ribs were not offered. And not worthy of talking about at all would be the beef plate ribs. The half rack is a horrible version of four beef ribs. I know these are mostly fat, but not even a bite of edible meat was on the top of the rib. The cartilage was hard which when cooked right should be more gelatinous. This was the biggest let-down especially given the cost of the menu item. Brisket and sausage were "ok". The sauces are all very tasty, which I prefer to keep on the side. Will I be back again? They were nice and let us substitute tender for the thighs for one of the chicken and waffle orders. That entree came with sweet potatoes fries and a honey syrup for the waffles. So I had to wait 5 minutes for someone to realize i was waiting for a table and no one every did realize...I walked to the take out counter and asked for a table and the two girls there seemed annoyed that I would even think to ask. So after waiting 5 min to get a table, we then had to wait 10 minutes for a menu, another 10 for water another 10 to order and a solid 20 min to ask for some take out containers and the bill. Food was mediocre and with the awful service (quite lack thereof), i will never come back. Theres only 1 other table with people, and the lady outside comes in and is our server. Comes over with a chip basket, thumb in the basket touching the food (im hoping she washed after smoking). Comes back to take the order, and we ask for straws, and shes fumbling around, dropping them, can barely pick them up. We place our food order, and she disappears and doesnt show back up for a while. 2 other people brought out our app and our meals. Ordered fried pickles, which we always got and loved, but this time they were absolutely terrible. Completely flavorless and tasted like there was 0 seasoning. Mushy mess. Returned here this evening for the first night out with my husband and 6 month old son since he was born. And it's not Like they are cheap but in the 2 portions one had 7 and the other had 8 chunks instead of ten. Cole slaw and collared greens were also done well but zero seasoning and VERY wet. I like collards to have a little kick to them. Like we had to actually drain some of the juices out so it wasn't like soup. My hubby got the ribs and half a chicken, with a side of chili and Mac and cheese. Once again cooked well but lacked any flavoring outside of the natural meat tastes. Chili I enjoyed, and the Mac and cheese was good but bland as well. Would I come again? The fatty brisket was amazing! It was so good with a nice smoke ring and good flavor. The pork and chicken had good flavor. The ribs were falling off the bone and definitely tasty. The sides were good. Corn bread was more like a corn muffin. The coleslaw was decent. The baked beans were ok. The Mac and cheese was yummy. Definitely the food was great. We got take out and it travelled well. We ate it about 30 min later and it was so good. My only concern was that the place was super packed and most guests were not wearing masks even before they ordered. I am not ready for indoor eating during COVID. Before we launch into this review let's just observe a moment if silence for the Seaford Palace which once occupied this location. Ok, now to our scheduled program. When I think of BBQ, I think of saucy meaty goodness. I ordered the BBQ Slider Sampler to get a little taste of everything. Granted my order was to go, but the sauce to meat ratio was not even close to being correct with not nearly enough sauce on my sliders. Yes, there was sauce on the side but my personal feeling was that I should not need to add additional sauce to my bbq unless I have some ungodly need to extra extra sauce. One good thing about the lack of sauce is it allowed me to evaluate the juiciness, or lack thereof, of the meats. Pulled pork and brisket appropriately moist. Chicken dry AF. BBQ chips absolutely no complaints, I ate them all. Husband got the loaded hog wild mac which he loved. The only complaint there is the sausage is vaguely described as "smoked sausage" and for whatever reason he thought it would be crumbled and it was more like a salami type of situation which is a little strange to be putting in mac and cheese but he ate it also could not have been that bad. I partially blame myself for having ordered one of the most egregious combinations of meat and cheese ever concocted, a combination that is typically a home run. I ordered the Smokehouse Mac Lasagna, a nauseating amount of Mac and cheese and meat between lasagna noodles and smothered in cheese sauce. I ordered this because it says it was seen on TV, and I'd recommend to keep it exactly there, on tv and not on your plate. My gf got a brisket plate that was much better than the monstrosity I ordered. Definitely order that if you visit. The service was also not great, taking over 20 mins just to get our drinks. If you do decide to venture here and risk the Smokehouse Mac Lasagna, say your prayers and make sure you are fully stocked on Poo-Pourri.
