Dance FX is the place to go if you want to learn how to social dance or have a special dance choreographed. My wife and I, who are newly empty-nesters, joined Dance FX about 6 months ago for two purposes; 1) to learn a new hobby my wife and I could experience together and, 2) to learn a special choreographed dance we could do at our daughter's wedding. In six short months they have taken the two of us, who have never danced prior to joining, and taught us to dance the jitterbug, night club two step, and the fox trot. Additionally, we are just putting the finishing touches on a full length special dance for our daughter's wedding. While we still have a long way to go to reach our personal dance goals, we are already at a point where we have attended social dances and we are really looking forward to show casing our new skill at the wedding. The owners Nicole and Adam have met every expectation we had and more! They are both extremely involved with the student's success and even still teach classes, which we find very impressive. They have an excellent staff that are not just mechanical instructors, but take the time to explain and educate us with the "why" certain techniques need to be completed and they have an ability to explain it without making you feel like a knucklehead. For me the greatest part of Dance FX is the personality of the entire staff in general, as we are very involved with our careers sometimes we go to our dance lesson stressed and up tight from the day and by the time we leave we are laughing, smiling and happy we went, mostly because the staff has such a positive energy about them, it rubs off on the students, (Melissa and Rachel are awesome!!). I certainly recommend the Dance FX experience, and in this tough economy it's one of the best personal investments I have made. read more

The staff was very nice but I was disappointed in the progressive salsa classes I signed up for. The class was 4 weeks long and we had 3 different teachers. Each teacher stated that they normally have just one teacher for all four classes. The first class was as expected with basic steps and a few turns, nothing to complex. We spent the first half of the second class doing review but the teacher had to ask the students what we did the previous week because he didn't bother asking the teacher from the previous week what we did. The third class was again a different teacher and we spent 45 minutes reviewing what we had done the previous weeks. I'm all for reviewing the steps but 45 minutes of an hours long class is a bit much, and again the teacher never bothered to ask the previous teachers what we did and had to ask the students. About half way through the class the teacher from week two was sitting off to the side watching and that's when the two teachers decided to have a conversation about what we learned the previous week. It seems to me that they could've had a 2 minute conversation before class to go over what we had already done instead of wasting our time during class. My partner and I had talked about taking one of the country dance classes but by the time we were done with this class we decided to look elsewhere. On a final note, salsa is supposed to be fun and exciting! Maybe playing some more modern salsa music that you would hear in a club would be helpful. I don't know what you guys were playing but it was a bit depressing! Update June 18, 2014: additionally disappointed that they never responded to the issues I had with the class! Dance FX Studios has been excellent in every aspect. If you're thinking of trying another studio...DON'T. Dance FX is where you want to take your lessons! Dance FX is a perfect fit. I live over an hour away from the studio and wouldn't think of getting my lessons anywhere else. Everything is done with smiles and a great attitude at Dance FX. Sierra definitely sets the tone for a fun, relaxed, professional, ready to dance atmosphere! Kaelynn and Hailey have been incredibly fun which has really taken my nerves away from learning to dance. Kaelynn's elegance and experience allows her to gracefully feel where my corrections need to be made while she is instructing me through the dance steps. Her ability to communicate those corrections so a big clumsy guy like myself can understand them has been nothing less than perfect. Hailey is so much fun! Hailey also has an amazing knack of finding those small miss steps which are crucial in teaching anyone to mastery. Hailey has an obvious passion to teach dancing and it is exuded in her excitement when I actually get the steps right. :) I highly recommend both Kaelynn and Hailey as your instructors. If you're looking to improve and really dial in your dancing skills you must check out this place!!! I've been going to Dance FX studios for A few months now and I have to say wow!!! Dance FX studios is an absolutely awesome facility so much fun and no pressure, the staff is unbelievable at teaching and taking the time to really work with no matter what your skill level is to get you to where you want to go. My first time going to dance FX studios I had a pretty good country two step, but I really wanted to learn that country swing style and let me tell you the amount of knowledge and skills they have taught me from good footwork to all the awesome fun moves I feel like I'm on a performance level of dancing after my lessons with the amazing team. From the amazing instructors, to the one on one dance lessons, to the group dance lessons, to how great the facility and atmosphere is this place is overall amazing. Dance FX studios is absolutely 100% best hands down dancing facility you can go to! I definitely recommend Dance FX studios if you wanna learn just the basics to get started or the more advanced style of dancing this is the place to feel more confident and more dialed in on your dancing skills. DanceFX is a well oiled machine, managed perfectly and always there to help with any admin issues I may have. All the staff are warm, kind, and welcoming of all abilities. The facility is well maintained and in spotless condition. There is plenty of room for multiple classes and the general vibe of the place is calm and tranquil. You feel like you are self developing after every lesson you take there. With regards to my instructor, some instructors make it seem like a chore to learn, but at DanceFx, my instructor Kaelynn makes every lesson feel like a blessing to experience. She is very caring and understanding of my ability, or lack of so to speak, and still makes it feel so rewarding to learn a new salsa move and gradually improve over time. She is a superb instructor, even during the times I am difficult to instruct which i will admit to being. But also, and maybe more importantly to me, she's got a genuinely good soul inside her and so makes it more enjoyable to be around and dance together. I only wish I had started years ago learning to dance with the Dance FX Studios team. The group classes are very well organized and the owners make every effort to have an even number of men and women in the classes so that no one is without a partner. The group classes offer people an inexpensive way to learn how to dance Salsa, Argentine Tango, etc., etc. The group class instructors engage with each participant and really have an interest in having students learn proper technique and form and enjoy the experience. I really like that Dance FX also hosts regular dance parties which they encourage their students to attend so students can practice their moves in a less intimidating public forum. If you really get the dancing "bug," which we did, sign up for the private lessons. The private lessons have accelerated our learning of several dance styles we chose and we are evolving into better dancers faster. That being said, like all things, you get out of it what you put into it meaning that you have got to practice in order to improve. The bottom line is if you have an interest in learning social dances, I highly recommend Dance FX Studios. read more

Dance fx is fantastic! I was looking to get out more and quit being such a homebody. Dancing has always peeked my interest. When I finally pulled the trigger to learn, dance fx was there. thanks to Jules, she was able to get me going and she helped me discover that i was not only actually pretty good at it, but she also helped me realize the love and passion i now have for dancing. I never did big crowds before, but with her help, within one month of learn I finally had the confidence to be in crowds and wasn't scared to get out there. Thanks to Sierra I'm learning more and progressing faster than I thought I could. Because of Sierra, I have had people stop me from leaving the dance floor and want me to help teach them some moves. Both of these fine ladies are very understanding and patient and they're always excited to work with you. So thank you both for giving me that courage and confidence I needed to get out there. If you're anything like me, the thought of dancing has made me uncomfortable for as long as I can remember. At weddings and other social events, I'd make a beeline for the bar and hang out there until it was time to go home. Two months ago, my fiance signed us up for private dance lessons thru Dance FX. I reluctantly went to the Open House anxious that it would be an awkward experience. My expectations were completely turned around after my first lesson. The instructors (ps Rachel is AWESOME) making learning to dance an easy and fun experience. It's a great way to spend time together as a couple and it's an invaluable investment for your social life. Dance FX has been very flexible with our schedules as we both work full-time and can only have lessons in the evenings or weekends. I would strongly recommend this dance studio to anyone. read more

Gary and I wanted to get back into dancing because we had previously taken some ballroom dancing classes. We looked on the web, found FX and signed up for some group classes. After the group country swing class ended, we found that the instructors were friendly and knowledgeable, so we decided to sign up for private lessons. For the past year, we have been learning swing, 2-step, Argentine tango and salsa. We have worked with several different instructors and have found them all to be capable and patient. Because we have enjoyed our lessons this past year as well as the social interaction, we plan to continue our classes and would recommend Dance FX to our friends. Five Stars! If you are looking for a fun place to learn to dance, Dance FX is it. My wife and I have no dance experience, don't dance in public (and I have no rhythm and two left feet), but with Dance FX, we are on our way to learning country swing, bachata & salsa. Sierra (owner) is super nice, easy to work with and has a very clean and spacious dance facility. She answered all our questions and made us feel very comfortable as dance newbies. We started with the introductory lesson, then the foundation classes and finally purchased additional classes to continue our dance journey. I have had so much fun and learned so many things at Dance FX! The most impressive thing I have learned is that it is more empowering and enjoyable to be a follower on the dance floor (instead of trying to be a leader like most of us females!) We came upon this dance studio after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. Learning to dance with my husband has been a dream of mine for a long time, so we decided to stop by and book our first private dance lesson. I wanted my husband and I to connect more as a couple, have the confidence to dance in social settings and to have fun overall without feeling self cautious. Our dance instructor Cassy has been a tremendous help in this arena. She is easy going, knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and energetic. I've been taking country dance lessons at Dance FX Studios for just over a month and I highly recommend it! My lessons have focused primarily on country swing and country two step while adding a little bit of nightclub two step and progressive two step. My instructors, Julissa and Sierra, are very knowledgeable about the dance styles and have kept me focused on the fundamentals so I can give strong signals as a leader. My fiancé and I needed to learn and master the first dance for our wedding, and Nia really delivered in her lessons. She was incredibly instructive and patient in her teaching while we were trying to practice everything she was teaching us. She demonstrated her knowledge and came up with a charming and passionate dance routine for our first dance. We practiced with her over the course of 10 sessions, lasting over the course of a month. It was a great experience throughout the whole process, and we really blew everyone away on the day of our wedding when we showed them the routine. I never thought anyone could teach me to dance. I have two left feet, I'm stubborn and I wasn't a great dancer at all. I needed to learn to dance to get myself out there and make myself look good.
