I have been a customer here for YEARS. I have never had a bad meal here. Some may be better than others but never a bad one. Chef Dave is a good guy and demands highest of standard from his people. It is my opinion that the owner/chef abuses his staff and his customers. At least that was my experience from my observations. My husband and I were looking forward to having a couples dinner at the restaurant. We were there the previous night for an event meet up. The restaurant was crowded and we were not able to order dinner. No problem with that. It was a large crowd and it was understandable. But everyone told us how great the food was, so we were looking forward to coming back the next night when things were normal. Got there around 8:00 PM, seated quickly, and our server was very attentive. My husband ordered the Rib Eye which was around $48. I chose the Filet Mignon which was $38. Both of us ordered baked potatoes. I also ordered a side salad with a $3 up charge as one of my sides. When ordering we both made it very clear about our preference of cooking temperature. My husband would eat his steak raw if it was allowed. He actually jokingly told the waitress that. He ordered it medium rare. I explained to the waitress that I liked my steak a true medium. I told her that I did not like it to be bleeding on the plate. She told me that she wrote down "medium to medium well" just to be sure. The side salad was a Caesar's salad, and it came out quickly. My husband and I shared it, and both thought that it was really good. The food came out quickly as well, and the plates were extremely hot. Hot enough to literally burn you. The first thing I noticed is that my baked potato was very waxy on the inside as if it had been reheated. Same for my husband. We both agreed just to eat it and not worry about it. Our steaks however were a different story. My Filet Mignon was cut into three separate pieces, and all of them were completely charred to the point that they appeared to literally be burned. I had difficulty cutting a piece to eat, and it was so overcooked that it was un-edible. Very tough, very dry, without any part of it being less than extremely well done. My husband's steak was also well done without any visible pink color anywhere in it. He said that he was just going to eat it without complaint because he was hungry. I considered doing the same, but the texture of the steak made it impossible to eat. The waitress came by to check on us, and I showed her the problem. She was very kind and offered to re-cook both steaks. She took both steaks back to the kitchen on a plate and left us with the rest of the food that had been served. We were fine with that. From there the situation became very unsettling. In truth, it was bizarre. We heard loud conversation from the kitchen that appeared to include the chef yelling at the waitress. Our waitress came back to our table with a person that we assumed to be the manager. She was visibly shaken and on the verge of tears. The co-worker that was with her said that he was instructed by the chef to tell us that he was not going to re-cook our meal since there was nothing wrong with it. They did not bring our steaks back and simply said the steaks would not be re-cooked. We eventually realized that the young man was not the manager but was a supportive co-worker who did not have the authority to make any type of decisions. My husband asked to see the manager and was told that the chef was in charge. We could still hear him back in the kitchen pacing back and forth and talking loudly. At that point the waitress was crying and trembling. But the worst was yet to come. My husband and I have 50 years together. He does not drink at all. He is not violent. As long as I've known him I've never seen him react in such a manner. He left his seat, stormed into the kitchen, and confronted the abusive chef face to face. My husband later told me the disrespect shown by the person in charge by refusing to talk face to face when requested, and for the verbal assault his female waitress had endured just minutes prior, pushed his tolerance of insulting and bullying behaviors past the point of what a man should silently tolerate. My husband told me that the chef/owner took off running back to a rear area when he saw him and initially refused to acknowledge that he was the owner. He also said from a distance that the steaks were cooked perfectly when they were served and became overcooked due to sitting on the excessive heat of the plate. He offered no solution to the problem, instead denying that anything was his fault or that a problem even existed. Fortunately, my husband had the good judgment to know that he was dealing with an unstable person, and to simply gather our belongings and leave. (We did leave the waitress a $30 tip.) I later read several of the reviews of others and was surprised to find out that this type of actions have apparently happened to other people. My husband and I have waited awhile to go out on a date here since moving from up north. While it did take longer than I would have liked to be asked if we wanted a drink while sitting at the bar, once served our drinks were great and our food once delivered was hot and tasted great! The only thing I will say seemed at little off was our bill (with tip) was $195! That seems quite steep for two people eating wings and only having two drinks. Now, we both got a hat, but no one even told us how much they were and no one even knew who made them. If you're selling someone's merchandise, your staff should know who makes it. So let's start with the good ! The server was really great and attentive. Wasn't her fault it took them an hr to bring our food out . I had a fried chicken plate with home fries and veggies. The chicken was ok not great . The veggies very bland but the fries were really good . My husband had a burger and said it was the worst one he's had so as far as we can see don't get the burger or chicken plates . Maybe the steak and Oysters is where they excel but we didn't have that . Also had the cheese curds and they were pretty good my husband really liked the sauce with it ! This is an absolutely amazing stop!!! We had a party of 8 with one very young and every meal was perfect for all. Service was excellent, the Old Fashioned was a perfect drink, the fried pickles, onion loaf and cheese fries were excellent! Yummy!! I had the Shrimp and Grits. They were not highly seasoned (I had to add salt) but they were very smooth creamy and cheesy. This came with mixed vegetables. While they tasted delicious they did need to be warmer. My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak. We think we actually heard them pounding the steak. I always think of CFS being served with mashed potatoes and gravy. There was not mashed potatoes on the menu. The gravy tasted good but did need some work. I'm a truck driver and was stopping on the side of the highway beside this restaurant to use the restroom and stretch my legs for a second when a man walks around the side of the restaurant facing the highway where my truck is located. He picks up a rock off the ground and throws it and hit my truck. I then rolled down the window to see why he has done this and he yells people are sleeping here. I started to explain as he proceeds to call me a Nigger. I then called the police due to there being a dent left in my trailer just to find out that he is the owner of this restaurant. I recommend any fellow truckers looking for a bite to eat or a place to go to the restroom to not stop here at this establishment and support him in any financial way, this could've ended badly so just wanting to warn anyone else who may not fit the description of the customer he's looking for. read more

We needed to park our camper overnight and it just so happened that this camping spot also had a steakhouse (same owner) to have some good reviews. We ended up with an acceptable hookup spot for the night although paying more than the going rate as we were not paying in cash. The wait to be seated in the restaurant was crazy and we gave up after 20 minutes of not even eye contact from the 2 servers or what appeared to be the owner working the bar and and maybe 5 tables we decided to sit at the bar if only for me to have a drink. I ordered a margarita. Blah. Got the onion loaf as we were hungry and it had good reviews. As for food, I will stop there as that was the only good bite we had. While we waited and waited for anyone to take our order I watched 2 young ladies wander the tables with little to no sense of urgency while the owner went from customer to customer at the bar and the tables hurrying to explain he has no help as nobody doesn't wants to work anymore, instead just keep on getting things for free. I have crisscrossed the country twice in the past 6 months twice and tried to eat in small local spots wherever possible understanding the struggle in keeping their doors open and staffing for indoor dining. We have undoubtedly waited for a seat or our meals to arrive, but the food was worth the wait and the owners and staff seemed to appreciate our understanding. Once seated at the bar the tone of the owner regarding the treatment of the staff that was present all came into focus. Why the staff and patrons need to know the political position of this owner I cannot be sure, but apparently it is something he is proud of. Then do everyone a favor and hang it high and proud out front of your restaurant and RV Park. This tells a customer and a potential employee some important information about you and your business before they bother to walk through your door. We went Wednesday night. It was wing night and karaoke night. It was not busy. It took the bartender 15 minutes to make the first margarita we ordered. It was another 15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted to order appetizers. The food was okay but the service was terrible. Had to ask for the check and a box and finally just went up to pay. Look at every one star review and see the common thread. This is the only time I have ever decided to not even try a restaurant just because of contents about the working environment of the staff and the behavior of the owner. Read this - really unbelievable. No way all these negative reviews from such a diverse set of reviewers can all have similar elements based on their experience at the place unless largely accurate. We stayed in their RV lot out back for a reasonable price and had a fantastic meal inside the restaurant. Seriously had the best fried catfish I've ever eaten. Is was more like tempura. The owner sat with us for a while. He's from the NE so maybe a bit brash for the locals but we enjoyed his company. Great menu, great bar good stop for the night. It wouldn't let me choose Zero stars So, tonight my husband and son decided to play cornhole and my daughter and I decided to head out to Damn Yankees. Hubby and I went there about 3 weeks ago and ordered filet mignon and it melted in my mouth like butter! It was so good. We told our daughter about it so that's what she wanted tonight. First of all, it was brought out on a cardboard school lunch tray(strike one). Who wants a $30-45 steak on a 25 cent cardboard tray. The outside of the steak looked almost like charcoal. The inside was a little on the rare side. She tried to cut into it and of course the outside was tough but then tasted it and so was the inside. It wasn't even seasoned well! She sent it back. One of our waiters asked if she wanted something else or wanted him to just refund it. She asked for a ribeye, thinking it would at least be more tender, and to season it more. It came out and the waiter got yelled at for trying to bring it out with real silverware. Dave sent him out with a plastic fork and knife!!! She cut into the second steak and it was slightly more tender than the first, but still not seasoned. I told her to forget it and we'd stop on the way home and get something for her to eat. My oysters were only mediocre but I didn't complain about them. The three waiters/waitresses went to talk to Dave about taking it off the ticket. We waited and they were back and forth talking to him about it. The result was we had to pay for the second steak but they could offer me a dessert. I refused the dessert and I asked to speak to Dave. The waitress went and told him and she was told to tell me that he was busy in the kitchen and to "F-/@? off". Needless to say I'm a red head and have the temper to go along with it. He came out of the kitchen and delivered a dessert to a table laughing and cutting up. I called his name and he came over. I told him that it wasn't my first rodeo and that I'd been eating his food for years. I've never had to send anything back and it was always delicious. I overlooked the fact that he's an @sshole bc he was such a good cook. He told me that the second steak was USDA prime and he didn't know what else to say about it and he said he'd rather it be under seasoned than over seasoned. He turned to walk away with me still trying to speak to him. He did turn back around to me when I told him I'd gladly "f___ off" and he'd never get another dollar from me. You just don't treat customers like that! You're a small business owner. If you disrespect customers you'll eventually you'll cut off your nose to spite your face. To top all this off "their credit card machine is broken" so we'd have to use the ATM. Dude, I heard the waitress last time we were there talking about him not willing to use the credit card machine. He makes everyone use the ATM. If everyone uses cash he doesn't have to claim it. Evidently jail time didn't do a thing for him. My newest place to come eat. Each time I come here, I am pleasantly surprised of all the different offerings on the special's board. The food is always consistently good. The best thing, which I was hesitant to try, was the baked Cajun oysters, but it was literally the best thing I have eaten there! The bartender was also extremely helpful in recommending drinks and the PJ&J shot was delicious as was the Sangria. If you are in this area, you definitely need to try this place! read more

We had a group of 4 guys and we wanted to have our first annual Christmas party at this restaurant. We got to the place at about 3 pm cst but they didn't officially open until 4. We asked if we could sneak in and the ladies wanted to but they couldn't, or so we thought. The owner came running outside and said can you give me 20 min. We said absolutely!! The owner and staff went above and beyond for us. The food!!! OMG the food was out of this world. My group had 2 of the Best Damn Burgers, a Pete Morrison, and I had the catfish sandwich and a side salad. The meals were out of this world. The worst part is they force and lie to their customers to pay cash even insisting the customers use some off brand ATM that will of course cost the customer more money but I am sure Damn Yankees is getting something off this archaic practice. In this current environment with Fraud risks being as they are, the card is the best way to purchase and be secure. This is a terrific option for great food! Doesn't look like much... from the outside building. But, best steak I've had in years. Prime 8oz filet charred or Pittsburg style med rare. They aced it! Lots of options on the menu including many choices of homemade cheese cakes. You would never expect it but we really enjoyed our meal. Service was warm and welcoming too.
