Anything blackened and grilled is just delicious. Appetizer: Pimento cheese balls - delish Crab cakes - yummy! Best crab cake ever from East Coast all the way to the west. Mostly crab meat, not like those stuffed with bread crumbs. Very flavorful. Entrees: Blackened Shrimp and grits- delicious. Blackened Salmon and Grits -delicious Blackened Red fish and Grits - delicious Blackened Grilled red fish with hush puppies- delicious Fish and chips - good But all blackened shrimp and fishes above stole the show. Our food was good, seasoned well and not greasy at all. Hubby got the fried flounder with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw and I got the shrimp and grits. Our one complaint is that while the fish and hush puppies were hot, the fries and the shrimp and grits were barely warm. Our server was good and attentive. We were at Collinsville Trade day ad realized it was almost lunchtime so headed off to Gadsden unplanned and made it over to Capeside just as they were getting ready to open. I went for the low country boil, there were just soo many shrimp I couldn't eat them all, plus Conecah sausage, red potatoes and hush puppies! Fabulous! Their fried shrimp is as good as you can get anywhere for any price. They usually have a daily special that could star at any fancy establishment. We love this place! read more

For where it is This seems to b the best restaurant around and it shows. The whole time we were in there a steady stream of people(mostly older came in) BUT to me it just wasn't all of that. The waitress wasn't all that friendly (but it was super busy ), but the food came out fast . There were some hit and misses though. So for a app I got the pimento cheese balls and my husband got the gator bites. The gator bites were really good (I dont even like gator but they were tender and very good) The pimento cheese balls were like softball size (I'm not lying . They were huge. They were good also. Honestly that's all I liked. I got a redfish plate and my husband got swordfish. I don't like strong fish so I tasted his. We swapped . The way the grits are done with the Conecuh. It overpowers the fish. It tasted wonky to me. I would have rather had cheese grits underneath . Dont get me wrong I love Conecuh just the pairing with fish doesn't go together at all. What concerned me the most though was there was zip hand soap in ladies room. I was thinking if there is zero hand soap then the employees are not washing their hands. Just eww!! This is a small, quaint restaurant and market. It was not busy when we went which was a Saturday late afternoon. Service was good. Bit Some dishes were good and some were not. I had the shrimp and grits. It was good. But not the best I've had. My daughter had the seafood Alfredo and that was not good. The Alfredo was very runny, and she bit into a few fish bones so that definitely was a turn off. The rest of the table had fried dinners and they were ok. Is this a place I would go again. The wall did not connect to the ceiling so you could hear kitchen noise. I went for the food so the kitchen noise was no bother. There aren't that many places to get seafood in the area. This one's food is delicious. They also sell seafood that you can take home and cook. The first thing I noticed there was that there were lots of cars/trucks in the parking lot. That was a good sign. The second thing I noticed was that the restaurant and store inside did not smell fishy at all. Another huge plus. Then, when we got seated, the table was very clean and I appreciated that. The menu has fried, grilled, and steamed options. They had a whole page of specials and then a whole page of their regular menu. There were even a few choices for "land lovers." They have Pepsi products. They also had a ton of sides listed and it was hard to choose. I got a side House salad and shrimp and crawfish boil. I wasn't sure how much to get. Ended up getting half a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish, with potatoes and corn. Well, I ate as much as I could and still ended up taking home leftovers. I got the seafood boil with Cajun seasoning but it was very mild. I think they were erring on the side of caution bc everyone has a different spice tolerance. Like I said, I ate til I was full. Not complaining. I am looking forward to going there again to try other stuff. Also, our waitress was great. We LOVE Capeside! Fresh seafood at affordable prices. It's a "seat yourself" restaurant in Rainbow City. One thing to note: they do not serve alcohol, but you can BYOB and they'll supply glassware and bottle openers. Food and service are consistently outstanding. While not fancy, the restaurant is decorated in casual beach-themed decor. Their crab legs are always good (and super cheap at around $11 per pound at the time of this review) as are the shrimp tacos, ahi tuna nachos, fish & chips, and hush puppies. The fish is so fresh you can almost smell the salt air. Preparations are very well cooked and presented. Two menus offer a variety of choices: a standard everyday list of options plus a list of daily specials (while supplies last). Of all our local dining, this is first choice for seafood (even better than most places we have tried along the Gulf coast). If available, go for the Chilean Sea Bass. Also delighted in Blackened Redfish smothered in lime crema sauce. Seating can be limited when parking lot is full. Don't expect fancy, but it is clean and cozy. Service is usually good and able to answer questions. Overall, Capeside is our favorite place for a special meal. Have visited mostly on weekend mid-afternoons. Not open Mondays. read more

I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed a restaurant this much in a long time! Living in the Pacific Northwest, I rarely get treats like authentic Southern cooking or Southern hospitality. Most of all, I miss sweet tea, catfish, grits...yeah, that list goes on but when I come home, catfish is always a must considering the only options available in the PNW are frozen, from China, not properly handled, and usually one piece seared with a Mango Chutney Crema and a kale salad...for $14.99! No thank you! Been coming back down here for years and my family never loved me enough to bring me to Capeside Fish Co.! A restaurant where I can buy catfish by the pound, have them prep it however I want for what, $1 more? And then throw in a couple of hushpuppies! How could you not love this? Sure, I'll take a pound...go ahead and throw in half a pound of beautiful Gulf Shrimp...fry it all! Let's go ahead and down some grilled oysters while we are at it! So delicious! The only thing that was kinda meh might have had to do with the fact that it had been a busy weekend and we are in the midst of product shortages...but the cheese andouille grits lacked any hint of andouille...not even a whiff! They also weren't the cheesiest I've ever had...but they did have a unique texture that I don't think I've ever had with grits...almost like they were whipped? If that's a thing because they were light and airy...almost like a souffle? IDK...they were good but not what I was expecting. The service was stellar! Despite an exhausting weekend for the restaurant and visual fatigue on the employees, service came with a smile and when there was a snafu with all of the meals showing up at different times, they took care of that too by comping one of the meals that showed up after the rest of us were nearly done eating. (not an ideal situation) But having been in this industry for so many years, I know that sort of thing happens...they didn't need to comp it...I didn't even ask but when it happens, it's nice to see they care enough to make it right...even if all I do is add the cost of that meal on top of whatever my tip was going to be. Because honestly, right now...with the way everything is...that's the right thing to do! These folks work hard and I'm not going to slight them because an order got missed. We've got to take care of each other...it is the way! We were in town visiting from Phoenix Az, decided to Yelp seafood and Capeside Fish Company popped up! So glad we chose to eat here. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Their fried green tomatoes were thick slices, so juicy and the cream sauce is perfect on top of the crunchy coating. The shrimp and grits was really good. The smothered salmon and smothered red fish on their special menu was the business! Both had crawfish sauce and popcorn shrimp which satisfied our Cajun seafood craving. Presentation was A+ . Dinner at Capeside Fish Company. I had blackened snapper with Cajun cream sauce and cheese & andouille grits. Delicious! Benilda had grilled mahi-mahi with mashed potatoes. Loved it! Sue had a barbecue salmon BLT. Yum! Great dinner, waiter was great, another great visit to one of my favorite places. Another dinner at Capeside Fish Company. Benilda had the Salmon Blue Plate. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the fresh vegetable medley complimented it nicely. I had the Blackened Corvina with a Cajun butter sauce and dirty rice. I go out to eat because I like food. Why else would you do that? So, I go to the places I like. This one I love! This place would have to on an oil rig on the gulf to be any closer to fresh! The fried shrimp is superb every time! The staff are very knowledgeable and always ready to recommend something good! This place is easily better than a lot of seafood places on the gulf coast with half the menu price! They have some excellent choices here and you can even catch them with fresh mud bugs during the week! If you're not sure what those are just go on by and tell them you want a plate full! You'll have a Cajun accent once you get done eating! I can tell you that the place is kinda small and the parking is limited, so get there early. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own if you'd like. There is also fresh fish and shrimp available to purchase if you'd like to stop by on your way home to cook some up for the family.
