Stopped in one afternoon for a bite to eat recently. Kind of tried on the inside, dark paint and interior makes the place feel dated and depressed. Our server was absent, she showed up and got our drinks then disappeared? It was another ten minutes or better before returning. She seemed to be preoccupied, one of the other servers actually helped us with a couple things because ours was nowhere to be found. Fried green tomatoes to start. They were good, well prepared and nicely seasoned. Red snapper grilled with a loaded baked potato, pinto beans, and hush puppies for my dinner. It was okay, the fish was overcooked a little. The spud was baked hours well ahead of service and was hard in spots. The pintos and puppies were okay and pretty decent flavor wise. It was an okay meal, not great not bad. Okay. Everything about this restaurant has me saying, never again. I've gone twice. Almost a year apart. It was absolutely terrible. I was running to the nasty bathroom before I even left. Everything we were served was dripping in grease. It's so dark, you can't see the dirt. When you go to the bathroom, there's a sign that says outhouse, you don't go through those doors, you turn at the sign. There was a hole in the floor that I think was supposed to be covered. But wasn't. There's a changing table that looks like it's never been cleaned and honestly I wouldn't put my baby on. The bathroom is dirty, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. I have no idea how people eat in the place. I will never go back. I paid $50 for 2 meals, an appetizer and 2 teas, FOR LUNCH. read more

The chicken tenders were chewy, the lettuce was brown, and the steak was supposed to be rib eye but I only had a bit when I decided I wasn't sure what it was. This is the Burger Man, a member of the Best Burgers in America Association, and I was invited to come and score their burger. It was a good burger. The Meat little tough and leaned toward the Dry side. The Toppings were good and blended well. I suggested they use Iceberg Lettuce instead of romaine. Overall, all it was a good experience. We had an amazing dinner last night! The food is absolutely delicious. I don't know how they do it, but their fried food is exceptional. It's crispy and melts in your mouth. I especially loved the catfish, hush puppies, fried okra, and fried squash. The salad bar has lots of options and everything was fresh. Our server was extremely kind and even let my son help feed the fish in the aquarium. I highly recommend this restaurant and next time we are in town we will 100% go back. read more

Haven't been in a long while, thought we would give them another shot. They were not very busy for a Saturday night. The server was good. The only reason why they got 3 stars is because of the way the billing is done. The server read us the total off of his machine, without giving us a copy. He printed out a receipt and we realized he had not charged us for the dessert, and let him know of the error. My husband paid and made sure to click " no tip" as we like to tip in cash. As I reviewed the final bill, a 20% tip was already added to the bill, without our permission. As I stated earlier, we had issues with this place a while before and believe in second chances. Sorry, we will not be back. I know now why they were not busy on a Saturday night. read more

This was our first time in, and I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food choices were varied, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. My father-in-law and wife got the hamburger steak with gravy, peppers, and onions. I got the crab cakes. All the sides we ordered tonight were delicious, and we especially loved the fresh salad bar with over 40 items available. If you're looking for a reasonably priced restaurant in Centre, Alabama with a great staff and ownership, we feel we can recommend the Fishin' Hole. This is a quaint little truck stop type diner that is vintage in many ways. Friendly wait staff, super sized salad bar, great menu offerings and very clean. At first appearances you may be tentative about going in but believe me, if you have the chance, take it. Three of us visited for dinner and each had grilled fish with various seasonings. The food here has always been consistently good. But ever since the beginning of covid-19, the quality of the dishes seem to have gone downhill just a little. I don't know if it's a change in vendors or a change in cooks. The food is still good, of course, but I wouldn't say it's outstanding. We had three people, two got the buffet and one got the shrimp Alfredo. It was the worst food any of us had ever had. The service was fine, the waitress was nice. We were not certain that the inside was clean and the buffet was in horrible condition. They never restocked the buffet and there were only two burnt pieces of chicken when we entered and left thirty minutes later. We will never be back. read more
