We have always enjoyed beans and greens.It is a country cooking buffet.It has a salad bar,hot food bar(meats and vegetables),and a dessert bar.I had the plate with the shrimp and catfish .You pay at the door and a waitress will seat you and fix what you drink.All in a nice rustic building out in the country.If you are in the mood for some country food give Beans and Greens a try.Check out the next The Working Man Review. read more

If you like country food....this is it. People drive all the way from Georgia to eat here. The food is real food not that processed food crap you get at most buffets. The chicken fingers are wonderful. They always have chicken fingers, chicken and dumplings, chop steak, and some kind of roast; when we go. It is all better than you can get at home. The fried green tomatoes are great, but a little spicy. The dessert bar is wonderful....try the banana pudding. I always get the little blonde waitress with the tattoos. She is real nice and doesn't let your glass get empty. The price is very affordable. My husband and I eat for about $25 and its all you can eat. The only problem is they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Sunday its so busy you'll need the jaws-of-life to get in. We always go on Wednesdays. My husband and I were headed home to Mississippi from Atlanta following a business trip. We were approaching Gadsden & both craving some comfort food. I ran across reviews of Beans and Greens with a few noting "Like Grandma's Cooking". We knew it was located in a Rural Area and we actually enjoyed the drive to it which was serene and "small town America". A welcomed sight after traveling around Atlanta for 3 days. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady outside. Upon arriving inside, we were not greeted but the servers were busy running drinks and tending to others. No big deal. We saw a sign that directed us to seat ourselves which we did. One of the young ladies saw us and grabbed our drink orders and off we went to the buffet. They had a variety of meats and vegetables, a pretty good looking salad bar and several desserts to choose from, one which was labeled as Sugar Free. I tried the Chicken Tenders which were seasoned and appeared hand battered, chicken and Dumplings, some sort of meat that was in chunks (possibly Turkey?) and in gravy, cabbage, green beans, pinto beans, collard greens and mashed potatoes. The tenders were very good but a little dry. The Chicken & Dumplings, cabbage, pintos, green beans and potatoes were very good. They weren't really seasoned like my Granny would have made but with a little salt and pepper they were pretty good. The greens had a smell and taste to them that was just not for us. Maybe it was the brand? My husband had pretty much the same vegetables and his opinion is the same. He also tried the pork which he said was ok, just a little dry. He did mention that the BBQ sauce tasted homemade. Was it the "Grandmas Cooking" we had hoped for? No, but We left with full bellies and the price was reasonable so it was a win. read more

"If Heaven Aint Alot Like Beens & Greens I don't Want To Go"... This might be the best buffet I have ever eaten at. The chicken & dumplings and meat loaf is Heaven sent. The banana pudding is a diabetics nightmare....you just can't stop eating it (sadly I'm diabetic). The salid bar is fresh and nice...if you are into that (I don't eat rabbit food). Served buffet style we enjoyed catfish fillets, meatloaf, fried chicken, cornbread, turnip greens AND collard greens. Peas, beans, corn and good sweet tea. Very casual lunch crowd. Great service. The vegetables were on point & very tasty but the meat selection wasn't great. The ribs are a bit tough. They have fish and shrimp on the buffet as well as chicken tenders. I think the timing of when they come out is key because they can be a little chewy however the flavor is very good. The price is unbeatable at $24 for 2 and that includes the drink! read more

As the British say, this place is in the " arse end of nowhere". We didn't actually realize how far out of Gadsden till we'd gone 12 mi. But on the bright side we found they had very good country cooking. Buffet style , all u can eat($10 including drink & dessert). Went on Fri so fried catfish ( very good) popcorn shrimp, chicken fingers and ribs on the menu. Very well cooked and seasoned vegetables ( not the usual straight out of the can variety). My husband & I both commented on how good and creamy the Mac & cheese was. Good homemade desserts as well. If you're wanting to get away from it all and have a nice little buffet with down home style foods then this is it. We've heard about this place and wanted to give it a try. Little did we know how far out this place was located and how much more distance the detours would add. The buffet had several of the favorites: meatloaf, pork chops, BBQ with most of the usual fixings (green beans, corn, mac & cheese, etc.) and a mini salad bar. If we lived close by, then this might be a place we would frequent. With the distance and detours, we will probably choose something a bit closer next time. Didn't stay because of the crowd.came back Thursday 10/13/2022 got take out from the Buffet everything was flavorless, and taste like can food. Wasted $30.40 my dogs ate good. So, this is a destination restaurant - there's nothing near here and this isn't on the way anywhere. Its a steam table place with a fairly small selection, but what's there is delicious, and I mean every single thing is good. We enjoyed the homemade chicken fingers, chicken and dressing (my personal favorite), and the signature kidney beans with the mixed greens. Naming the restaurant for this last dish is quite apt - the beans are savory and rich, the greens have the perfect mix of tangy and porkiness. In addition, we had barbequed ribs, a tater tot and ground beef casserole, macaroni and cheese and green beans. The desserts were banana pudding, apple cobbler and a chocolate pie with a shortbread crust that was heavenly. The salad offering is meager, but that's okay - everything else deserves your attention. The only issue I saw was that the steamtable didn't really keep the food hot. I'm not sure why this was - perhaps the water wasn't hot? IDK - but if you served yourself something that wasn't hot out of the kitchen, it was definitely lukewarm. I bought the $10 for $20 Yelp deal and the cashier wasn't sure how to key it into the register. She rang the owner who talked her through it, and it was super easy. I very much appreciated her accommodating me, especially since we made a special trip. All in all, most definitely worth the trip - super casual, and delicious food. read more

Hubby & I ate here last night for 1st time. Disappointed. We arrived around 7:30. There were tons of people everywhere (Santa was in residence!). Did not have to wait too long before seated. The restaurant was a mess which I guess can be expected on a rainy Saturday night after hordes of people have gone thru. What is not expected is cold/ luke warm food on the buffet, that was the disappointing part. If we try it again, we will go early, on a weekday, but this experience will have to be way in the distance of our memories. read more

Only good on Sundays, we went on a Tuesday night, I didn't like anything on the buffet so me and my son ordered chicken and fries, it was uneatable, I took it home to my dogs and stopped at mcdonalds on the way home, but as far my husband who likes everything he said the buffet food wasn't good either, he could only eat on bite of the pork chop, and he picked around on the rest, only thing he ate really was a salad... but we have been on Thanksgiving as a huge family and food was good, the chicken and everything I ate was perfectly cooked, and it's usually quite decent on Sunday's when we have been! read more
