Great place overlooking the water. The Docks has a very large outdoor deck right on the water. For me, it doesn't get much better having a meal with the water to gaze out onto. There is also ample room inside. The food is outstanding. In particular, the sushi grade tuna bites were excellent. Also, the shrimp and grits--although rich--was very good. We made reservations for 6 and had a table waiting outside in a Saturday night. Yes their service is slow. Has been that way for 30 years. But everything arrived with a smile and was quite tasty. Went for my birthday dinner. Everything was good ordering drinks and appetizers. Come time to order dinner and husband ordered hamburger and I ordered shrimp Caesar salad. Waitress asked how I wanted shrimp cooked. I said grilled. Little while later food comes out. Husbands is right. I got grilled shrimp with fries.....not what I ordered and when I pointed it out to her she talked back and said that is what I ordered. I didn't accept that and she said she would get a salad. It came...we ate...was ignored with no offering of getting another beer. Bill came. Was charged for shrimp Caesar salad and also a side Caesar salad. She blamed the mix up on others. Got it fixed. The longer we were there the colder we got. The place is really designed to be on the water and more pleasant in better weather. We really wanted to stop in and try it on our way back from Charlotte. The food is amazing. I had the Pecan crusted Tilapia. My wife had the Tomato Basil Soup and Herb Chicken. She's really adventurous with her choices. It's a running gag within the family. This place has a view we all would want. Panoramic view of Lake Guntersville. You really have to try it. Looks like an old covered dock combined with a bar. Wait time exceeded one hour for our party of three's food when the place was half empty and we walked out. Median age for customers is like 70. Waitress was nice enough and the view is nice. Actually the view is the only thing this hot mess has going for it overall. Go elsewhere. Manager couldn't be assed to apologize for the wait and charged us for the soda we had. We were seated immediately, which was very nice but it took over 30 minutes for us to even get water. Then the waitress never came back. We had to pretty much flag her down in order to place our drink order. My white wine finally showed up warm and he never got his beer. Finally, about an hour after that, our appetizers showed up. The oysters were inedible and our friend got food poisoning from them. My fish tacos were also inedible, came out cold, and I had one bite. Also, they said the fresh catch was mahi-mahi, which we all know is not fresh in northern Alabama. I told the waitress that they were not good. However, they were still on our bill. They did not even take off the oysters from my friends bill after he said they were bad oysters. He had one oyster and sent them back and they wouldn't take them off bc they said he had a bite of them. Please don't waste your time going to order food at this restaurant. This was one of the worst experiences at a restaurant Ive had. Me and 9 of my friends decided to visit The Docks on guys trip based on the reviews we saw online. I ordered the Jerk Wings, which were floating in a bowl of oil and had zero flavor. I also ordered the shrimp and grits, which came out cold and no flavor. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits, which were also cold, and he sent back. The proceeded to microwave the shrimp and grits, which you should not do. When he tried to have them take it off his order, they refused to allow it and made go pay for it. This is such a bad location for food, so please avoid if you're ever in Scottsboro. We also waited about 30 mins before a waitress ever acknowledged us in her station even though she walked around us 20 times. We finally had to stop her and request to place our order. We were told upon arrival that they were short staffed but had no idea our quick date night dinner would turn into a 3 hour ordeal. The staff was very nice but not fast. This is a little hidden Gem of a place!! You have to know where you are going to find it! It's right on the beautiful tranquil water!! If you go at the right time you can eat and have a cold drink and catch the sunset!! The prices aren't cheap but the food is rather excellent! By that time, we were cold, tired and ready to go home. I asked for our food Togo because honestly, the food could've been spectacular and it wouldn't have mattered. The night was ruined and we got to pay $200 for a shitty experience. Overall, the food is good but the management practices leave a lot to be desired. Basic principles: if your back of the house can't keep up with the front of the house, stop seating people. We would gladly have dined somewhere else, spent a lot less, and been happier. read more

At this point, what did it matter? 30 minutes later, a table of 6 (ours was 7) received their food order. Their orders had been placed AFTER our order. Within that same span, a local wearing a "Let's Go Brandon" t-shirt ordered to go, and his food arrived in 20 minutes. A full 2 hours and 10 minutes after our reservation, our food arrives. We had to remind our server that several of the orders included salads, and we had to remind her what they were because they had taken so long. Nothing like getting your salad at the same time as your entree. If we hadn't mentioned it, we likely would not have received the salads. Moot point, as they were completely tasteless. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food once it had arrived. They blamed staffing shortages on the long wait. Here's a f*cking clue: DON'T SEAT IF YOU CANNOT SERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is certainly not what one would expect. It sits way off the beaten path back behind a marina with an awesome view looking south at Guntersville Lake. I was somewhat hesitant about my order of coconut shrimp, but was pleasantly surprised. I've had bigger and I have had better, but I certainly could not fault the looks or taste. I had the coconut shrimp entree, with onion rings and mashed potatoes. I would definitely go back and reorder the same items. My friend had the "local" ribeye, with red potatoes, and mixed vegetables. He said the steak was delightful, very tender, and tasty. When we got there they seated us pretty quickly. It just went down hill from there. We got drinks relatively quickly but food took a while to get out and those were just out appetizer. We ordered food and then TWO HOURS LATER they brought the food we ordered. We had watched a baseball game up till the ninth inning. Abd the food was not worth the wait. This place was highly recommended by our hotel clerk. Definitely take the hotel directions with you because the GPS won't get you there. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had reservations. We didn't, but said we would like a table for three on the deck. She seated us beside the largest, loudest industrial fan that I've ever seen. Our table was also beside the part of the deck that the patrons seated inside used for their smoking section. (There were at least six tables outside that were empty when we arrived and stayed empty). We sat there, in the tornado fan corner of the deck, and waited for a server. It was over ten minutes before a server, who approached a table seated after us, came by to see if we'd been helped. I asked for a drink menu. She replied that they didn't have a drink menu, just beer and wine. I found that odd since tables around us were getting mixed drinks and even shots. Hmmm. Okay. I guess she didn't feel the need to upsell us on some libations. My hubby ordered a beer. When that finally came, we ordered our food. It took over 45 minutes to get our dinner. It seemed as if they were under-staffed. The scenery is nice, but the timeliness of the food and the lagging service are hard to look past. I had wanted a drink and dessert, but I didn't want to spend another hour of my life waiting around. My hubby's grouper sandwich was pretty standard--same with the Alfredo. My shrimp and grits were tasty, most likely among some of the best I've had, but service is a huge deal-breaker for me. read more

We sat there for 25 minutes and no one ever came to our table to get our drink orders much less our food orders. Many groups arrived after we did and all were seated and served timely. A gentleman arrived 20 minutes after we did and within 2 minutes his server was at his table taking his drink and food order. I don't what was worse, the service or the live music that sounded awful and was begging for free beer the whole night. We made a reservation coming in from out of town for 6:00. We arrived at 5:58 for our reservation and were sat promptly. After that it went downhill. We sat at the table for 25 minutes and finally flagged down a waiter to ask if we had a server, he replied he didn't know and ran off. Shortly after a waitress returned with the excuse she didn't know which one of them was supposed to take care of us. We eventually ordered after another 30 minutes. After being there for almost 2 hours our food finally came. 3 of our orders were cooked incorrectly and one came out completely wrong. We again had to flag a waiter down to tell them about our food and she argued with us about the food. The scallops were ordered all grilled and they all came out spicy with blackened seasoning. She proceeded to tell us that we were wrong and that the cooks said the grill was probably just too hot (So they were burnt?!). She also told us she couldn't take it off our check because we had eaten some of the food, the only thing she could offer was $5 of a $22 meal)!! We asked to speak with a manager and she said the owners refused to come out and speak with us and we could just leave. I have never seen such disrespectful behavior from a business owner, a simple apology goes a long way. Unfortunately they decided to make poor business decisions and in return we will absolutely never be back and will make sure to tell everyone we know to avoid this place! Also if you're worried about social distancing and Covid beware. Very few people had masks on and most of the waiters that did have them had them pulled under their chins. read more
