    Garbage... pure garbage!!!

First of all I got there and there's a hostess stand and no hostess, but a chalk board inviting me to the bar area. There was no one in the bar area. A walked the entire restaurant and had to go in the back to find someone. Told to sit in the bar area. I Ordered a steak medium, mash potatoes, the Brussels sprouts (the family fav) and some grilled shrimp. The steak (ribeye) wasn't just an awful cut of meat, super fatty and waaaay over cooked. It was oily/greasy too. I mean this thing must have been cooked in the left over breakfast grease or something. The mash was served cold... and it was tasteless. The Brussels were an attempt at boiled cabbage or something like it. They were gross to say the least. And to top all that off, the grilled shrimp had some legs and shells on them but were served on the plate ready to eat. This was the worst plate of food I have had in a very very long time. And I'm a truck driver and practically eat out of dumpsters. At this point I'm seriously just hoping I don't get food poison. And I'm not joking, not even for a second. DO YOURSELF A FAVORE AND PASS THIS PLACE BY. IF WERE LUCKY THEY WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS. I MEAN WAFFLE HOUSE WOULD BE AN IMPROVEMENT TO THE DISGUSTING FOOD SERVED HERE. And just a note. The price for my ribeye, mash, Brussels and shrimp was a wapping $50 dollars! The employees kids were running all over and to the owner if you're reading this... SHOVE THAT FKNIN DOORBELL RIGHT UP YOUR ASS! Have a nice day!

Discovered Barney's while driving from the Shrine to Chattanooga and looking for a late lunch. Great stop - friendly service, delicious food. We enjoyed the fried pickles, daily special - pork chop, chicken Alfredo, Stromboli steak sandwich, patty melt, and Avocado Bacon Burger. The standouts were the Avocado Bacon Burger and Stromboli Steak sandwich. The burger was double patty with a good mix of flavors. The Stromboli had this onion mushroom gravy that was pure comfort food with a thick hamburger steak and buttered toasted bun. Both burger and sandwich were huge portions. The fries were delicious. We're happy we stopped and would come back if we're ever in the area again.

This place is hard to review. If you wanted to come here after church on Sunday you would probably not be out of place. Atmosphere: would be better if not for the fact that the music is way too loud, could not even place my order with the bar keep, and way too Christian. Three tvs. One playing that garbage music. Two playing a Billy graham show... perfect for church people. I intended to stay longer and would have done so, spending more money, if not for the horrible music. I even had headphones on, as did other patrons, and couldn't stay longer due to this. Food. I ordered fried green tomatoes. Tomatoes were undercooked, breading was decent, just barely over breaded. Seasoning was average if not slightly below average. I also ordered blackened catfish with shrimp. Basically it was a few pieces of jumbo shrimp and a few pieces of catfish fillet, you know, the prices most restaurants throw away, drowned in cheese and grease. Seasoning was very absent. Unless you consider cheese to be seasoning. Fries were inconsistently cooked, read various levels of overcooked, and over salted. Service. Barkeep was good. I'm not a fan of bars that require the bar keep to also be a waitress, but in this case the place is so slow that most of the staff wasn't near busy anyway. Despite that, she was attentive, and efficient. Housekeeping. This alone is enough to make me reticent to come back. The bar was built poorly, with deep grooves that aren't cleaned on a regular basis. If I were employed here I'd refuse to work the bar for this reason alone. If you do choose to eat here I would strongly recommend a table. Though admittedly, I didn't inspect a single one on my way out. Overall. If this were a church I would give it three stars. Two deducted for the lack of hygiene and seasoning. For a bar, I think giving it one star is being generous. That might be different if I had gone to the restaurant side of the house. But it was a poor enough experience that I'll refrain from returning. I'll just have fast food next time and save myself about $60. Alcohol selection. Beer. Average selection. Liquor. Slightly below average selection. Scotch. Well below average selection.

We were sat immediately seeing as on a Saturday night there were only 4 tables being used and three people at the bar. Now, being next to a truckstop and knowing that truckers spend enough time eating fast food they'd love a restaurant nearby, you'd expect it to be busy and crawling other people. Nope. It was so empty we echoed. The restaurant itself is very plain, no personality, the cable for their tvs wasn't working so don't expect games playing while you are there either. We were sat at a table that no longer had a server, so the girl behind the bar got our drink order and supposedly put in an app order. Then we sat there....and sat...and sat. 20 or more minutes later, Finally, our actual server came over, had no idea what our drinks were and then put in our app and took our food order. The fried pickles were so overdone, they literally crumbled, and I don't mean the outside. The pickle itself crumbled. But, the few I dug out that weren't overdone were actually good. The flavor of the batter was good as well. The "wagyu" steak was $40 for 14oz of pure fat. My son who eats everything pushed it away and I'll be giving it to the dogs. If that was a wagyu steak I'll kiss your foot! So after we finished, we waited and waited and waited some more for them to finally offer us to go plates, but when they were brought out the check didn't come with them. I stood up put on my sweatshirt and gathered my stuff up, hoping it would signal the fact we were ready to go. Nope. We finally had to ask for it when the new girl in training came by. Then $78 for mediocrity all around. VERY SLOW service (even at dead empty), being forgotten, terrible steak, good country fried chicken though. I overheard another customer who only got dessert say it best "it won't be long before they close too. The was terrible." I feel ya, my guy. I'm surprised they're open this long if this is what it is. DONT GO!! You'll get better food at Waffle House or Applebees even, than here.

Weeks in advance, reservations were made for six persons at 4:30 p.m. in the main dining room…read more When I arrived, I was shown to a table in a small room adjacent to the service area; nevertheless, the table was too close to a naked wall for my visitor to gaze at throughout supper. "Well, if you want to wait, I can seat a table in the main dining hall at a much smaller table," the hostess said after asking. There goes the first item. I had boasted to my guest about how the restaurant was decorated. Then came the seating. No server, no server. Finally, STOPPED two of the many servers rushing past just to ask for water. The first server told us it was not her area. The second server rushed through, saying, "Yes, I will get you drinks." We asked if wine or cocktails were available; the response was that she would need to get an "adult to help." No adult ever came to help. No information/greeting of any type to welcome or on how to proceed with getting the food. Now for the $40 food. The appetizer of boiled shrimp tasted mushy, as it had just been poured from a container of water. Buffet: Did not know it would be an almost attempt at a country-type food buffet. Failed at that attempt, and not what would be expected from a fine dining restaurant. Black-eyed peas tasted like they had just been poured from a can, with no flavor. Dressing and mashed potatoes were good, and BBQ ribs were good. The ham had a large bone and gristle, the turkey was thick but dry, and the grease was starchy and had no flavor. The dessert was good, but we did not believe it was made at the restaurant; we ate some from Costco, and it tasted and looked the same. Very rushed and chaotic atmosphere. Staff running past 5-foot aisle along the back of our table and not once looking our way, without us waving them down to help. Used plates on the table were picked up much faster at other buffet restaurants. Maybe just a bad day for their business, but the customers paid for the fiasco. Not sure we will return; it was very disappointing and embarrassing for me to have guided my guest to the restaurant. Made me look and feel embarrassed. Do not believe this is the fine dining restaurant the Mashburns had intended. Classic on Noble Street in Anniston, Alabama, is closing permanently at the end of 2025 after 30 years in business. Goode fried food is hard. The fried menu items I had here were the best I've had in years!…read more The setting is far off the beaten path, but I found out why as we were leaving. Service was quick and cheerful from all the staff. I had the fried catfish, baby lima beans, fried okra, and hush puppies. Spouse had shrimp basket, hush puppies, and homemade potato chips. As you can see, multiple fried foods. Fried okra is how I test "country" cooking. This was the best fried okra I have had in years. The catfish, shrimp and hush puppies were all excellent. It seems like they use a very light oil, but however, they do it the results are crunchy, non-greasy and bring out the flavor of the food. The way frying is meant to do. Very light breading but just enough. The baby lima beans were excellent. So many times I've had side orders that tasted just like they were scooped out of a 5 gallon can of Sysco product. I could be wrong, maybe it was the very very mild seasoning, but these did not seem commercial. A few caveats. There was a single catfish fillet and it was quite small. I recall getting the catfish fillet meal at the old Gibson's on the Parkway before it burned down. Two large fillets. But actually they could not compare to this. Hush puppies were excellent, I like more onions in them. But that's my preference. But for me, this does not takeoff from the overall five star rating, which I rarely give on a first visit. If you like country food, by all means go here. We will be back.
