I still haven't found any bb to come close to Hudson hickory house in douglasville ga im still having to drive over an hour to get good bbq now this was just ok I ate it but I won't be back. Sorry but not sorry it was not smoked it was from the oven. No real bbq im from the south we grill with wood. This was not. So I could have made it at home. read more

Didn't eat inside, so I don't know how service is. But I did order to go and the young lady working in that area was really nice. Onto the food. I got a BBQ plate with Mac N Cheese & Potato Salad. Ribs were cooked well and had flavor, but mostly it was more bone than meat. Both sides lack huge flavor and just very bland. read more

Without a doubt the worst Barbecue I've ever had. Pulled pork had no flavor, and the sauce was no good. Mac and Cheese was stouffer's, baked beans were plain, cornbread was dry, burnt, and inedible. My friend ordered ribs and couldn't even stab it with a fork, that's how chewy they were. Service was rude and unwelcoming. So how do you know a place is great......?????? 430pm on a Wednesday and the parking lot is full that's how.... We came up to visit the CMP shooting park and after a 9-hour ride, we were pretty hungry. This place is a no-frills southern gem. Ordered up chopped pork with fries, okra, and cornbread along with BBQ chicken half, okra, green beans, and cornbread. Oh, man ......OH, man...OH, MAN!!! The food was delicious. The chicken and chopped pork were moist and flavorful....add the homemade BBQ sauce and it was epic. Okra was very good and the beans tasted of the bacon they are cooked with....but not greasy. Fries were crispy and good also....only miss was the small cornbread muffins....dense but still had a good corn flavor. Check out the prices.....almost make one want to move to AL. read more

I went to Brad's when they were located in Central City and decided to meet a friend a couple of months ago. When we walked in the host did not greet us and seemed to have an attitude. We sat down and I was shocked that she was not friendly. I know the owners and I know their family are really good people. The host should put herself aside and make sure she is friendly to all customers. The server was pleasant and did her job. The place was full since it was lunch time on a weekday. The food was good minus the macaroni. I was expecting more. My friend said she enjoyed it and she would return with her husband. The vibe was a typical lunch vibe. Wow. So, we stumbled upon this jewel of a place while driving through oxford...& boy am I happy we did! It was a total of 12 people in our group and everyone enjoyed their food. This hardly ever happens so, I think this speaks to itself. Some in our group had the BBQ, chicken, and even salads... I had the fried whole catfish and Ohhh my gah. #amazing I was surprised because good catfish is hard to find.. let alone whole! I had a side baked potato and fried okra.. that was good too! My daughter and I stopped at Brad's tonight. We were in town for the week and were looking for some authentic southern BBQ. Not only did the food at Brad's knock our socks off, but the service was amazing. We enjoyed the pork platter, which was piled high with smoked pork and drizzled with a tangy sweet bbq sauce. We could smell it when we pulled into the parking lot, and it turned out to be as good as it smelled!! The sides at Brad's are as good as it gets. We enjoyed the collard greens (best I ever had), hush puppies and mac and cheese. We found out that the owners mother makes the collards and the potato salad. That gave us a reason to come back tomorrow and sample the potato salad. Needless to say, this is the type of restaurant where the service makes you feel at home and the owner takes personal pride in his business. We got to meet him on the way out, and it confirmed to me that Southern hospitality is alive and well in Alabama. Next time you come through Oxford/Anniston....Brad's is a must stop. Terrible is really the best definition I can think of! They completely mixed up the orders and gave us pork instead of chicken and baked beans instead of okra. As just two examples. The baked beans were mush, corn bread muffins dry and over cooked. The pork was as average as the sauce! All around disgusting!. So I happened to be driving though Oxford the other day, and of course....I got hungry. I spotted a barbeque place and instinctively, without a single thought, just made a u-turn and swung into Brad' s BBQ. So here's the deal...the server was absoutely perfect. Kind, welcoming, and had good knowledge of the menu. Excellent service overall. Fast, accurate, polite, and did a great job of anticipating the needs of my friend and I. Couldn't have been better. The restaurant itself was spacious, rustic, but a bit dated. I won't hold that against them. It wasn't bad at all really. But a little updating of the interior would go a long way in creating a better ambiance, but hey...its a country BBQ place, so who really cares about that? The reason for 3 stars instead of 5 was the food. It wasn't bad. It was certainly adequate, but nothing about it would make me want to stop in again. The onion rings, according to my friend were outstanding. I had some hush puppies that were the highlight of the meal for me. We each got the pork plate, which didn't come with any bread. I found that odd. A slice of white bread would have been a big addition and it wouldn't be hard for them to do. They only had 1 kind of sauce, and it was the thick brown kind that I'm not really fond of. I prefer an option to have a vinegar based sauce, similar to what you get at saw's BBQ, or the Carolina sauce and Jim and Nicks. If that's not an option, I usually just eat the pork with no sauce, which isn't an issue unless the pork is dry. So yeah...the pork was a little dry. Not bad bad, but not really something to write home about. That being said, the prices were very good. 2 people ate for around 20 bucks, so nothing to complain about there. But I still would have rather had a better meal for a few more bucks. If they had vinegar based sauce and a slice of bread, it'd be 4 stars for sure. I may go back if I'm in the area and give them another shot when its busier. Maybe the pork wont have time to get so dry during peak times when they're cooking a lot. All and all, a decent meal, but just decent, at a reasonable price. Don't take your foodie friends, but if you need BBQ and you're in Oxford, its worth a stop if for no other reason than that its a good value, a decent meal and a clean place with friendly people. read more

I eat at Brad's whenever I'm on I-20 in Alabama. The Bar-B-Que is topnotch; and the Catfish is to die for! Don't forget ALL the 'trimmins'. What I most like about Brad's is the down home atmosphere. Why just the other day, a nice young fella spotted a widow lady eating alone and sat to chat with her a bit. Eleanor was celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary without her recently deceased husband. So, Jamario Howard invited her to join him and his two pals, JaMychol Baker and Tae Knight at their table. I've been by this place dozens of times but never stopped. It's attractive but BBQ places are a dime a dozen in my neck of the woods. But, I was looking for somewhere different to take a relative so we pulled in. Spacious and clean but nondescript, we were greeted and seated promptly. Servers were polite and friendly, if not overly-attentive. I had eaten BBQ for lunch that day so I thought I'd try something else from the menu. I opted for chicken fingers. I had collard greens as a side and honestly don't remember the other side. The greens were as good as I've ever had but the chicken fingers were obviously the frozen, school cafeteria kind, served with packaged sauce. I was very disappointed with the overall quality of my meal, however, my relative really enjoyed his burger. Don't really see myself coming back here unless I can't get in anywhere else. read more

The owner is very very rude, my co-worker and me had lunch at this location, we order ribs and one of my coworkers found hair under her ribs. We asked to speak to the manager and my coworker told him that she found hair under her ribs and showed him the and he stated hair flow and it could be my other coworker. My coworker stated the hair was founded under the ribs. He than told us to pay and leave. I never in my entire life been treating that way before. read more

Good ribs fall off the bone or comes off easy, these were tough and this opinion came from the 4 out of 4 that were at my table. The greens and beans were obviously canned. Although i have yet to visit Brads bar b que, i saw the interview this morning on CBS Sunday Morning 4 28 2019! The bar b que looks great on t.v but this mornings interview was all about an older lady eating alone and how 3 friends who were having dinner there asked if she would like company and she said she would! A heartwarming story of how 3 young men were concerned enough for an older person dining alone, that they asked if she would like company while enjoying her meal and from that day on they have had additional meals at Brads Bar b que!! If you want a good smoky flavor BBQ pork sandwich or plate this place is not for you. The pork plate we had tasted like the meat had been cooked in the oven. The sauce was to sweet for me. Meat was also tough even though it had been chopped. The sides we had were very good. Mac and cheese, fried okra and collard greens. Grew up in the south but have lived in New England for more than a decade. I miss and can't get in the northeast items such as catfish fried on the bone, fried okra, collards with pork fat, and other southern delicacies (often from the incredible African-American cooking tradition). Brad's did not disappoint. Fabulous food and great service. Couldn't have asked for a better version of the meal I had, and I already listed items I ate previously. Someone at my table had onion rings and they were exceptional too. Hush puppies were the second best I've had in 57 years. Next time I visit this part of the US to see family, I plan a return visit and probably will eat the very same food items. Brad's, thanks for putting the taste of the south in my mouth. I don't really understand ANY of the good reviews for this place. We stopped here on a business trip, and while the folks were nice and the cole slaw was decent, the pulled pork was not good at all. The other sides were also not good, with the exception of the slaw (and it was only good, not life changing). The meat was dry and had very little smoke to it. Maybe if we could have tried some of the other dishes they could have salvaged the visit, but I'm not sure I'd assume that. They really need to think about combo plates. But next time I'm in town, I'll try somewhere else. Even the locals I was meeting with told me to go elsewhere. I wish I'd have talked to them first. read more

We got our food for our family reunion from Brads and it was delicious. They delivered it right on time and the bbq, mac and cheese and baked beans were warm and the Cole slaw was cold. William, the owner, was great, personable and friendly as was their delivery man. I would highly recommend Brads BBQ. Great family business! read more
