I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. This whole experience felt misleading and dishonest. Stay away.

From the first conversation with the representative when I called, I knew I was in good hands. The conversation was calm, every step was explained, emails and communication was fluid thru moving day. The truck was much bigger than I was expecting as well as the ramp placement at the side of the truck vs the rear which made me nervous, but luckily we were able to make it work in my apartment complex. Sully and Kenan were friendly and understanding overall. Asked questions along the way as needed, and took some of the stress away from what typically comes with a moving day (especially when it comes to this being my first time moving things into a storage unit). I do have to note that the move may have finished sooner had one movers not been out of commission by his lunch choice longer than expected... Also, seeing the feet of my couch during the move has me a bit nervous about how they'll look when I remove my furniture from the unit. From a few feet away when I saw them on the cargo elevator and being placed into the unit, they seemed like they were angled and scratched a bit from positioning during transport. The email after my move stated that I can inform them if I notice any damages, whenever it may be, so I'll have to do a thorough check when I next access or move-out of the unit. Other than that, I would for sure use them again, possibly even for when it's time for that move-out. Beau, the owner, visited us and gave an estimate that was very competitive. Throughout the move process they had very good communication. Before the move, we packed up most of the things ourselves, but Phoenix offered to have some of their office staff pack up the fragile items like dishes and art work on an hourly rate. This really helped! On the day of the move, they were on time and they brought in 10 people to pack the van and get us on our way quickly. When they moved us, they did not consolidate and transfer our things to another van, our things stayed in the same van until it reached its final destination. When they unpacked, they were very professional and efficient. To summarize, we had a great experience moving with Phoenix Express and I would highly recommend them for anyone to move with!

For some reason, this time I was assigned movers who seemed to have absolutely no sense of urgency. Roughly 90% of my furniture was Ethan Allen, and unfortunately, around 75% of all pieces sustained visible damage during the move -- scratches, dents, and more serious harm to structural parts. Now, I expect Hawk Movers may respond that I "knew" their liability was limited to $0.60 per pound per article, since that is the industry standard. That's true -- and it was in the contract. But let's be clear: a liability limit does not give a company license to mishandle a customer's belongings. The limitation only defines compensation, not the level of care they are supposed to exercise. Hawk Movers advertises that they have a 96% no claims record. After my experience, I suspect that number reflects how pointless it is for most customers to file a claim. Why? Because at $0.60 per pound, the payout is so tiny compared to the actual loss that it's simply not worth the paperwork. Here's part of the email I received after asking for a claim form, quoted verbatim: "It is our goal to make the claim prosses a fast and transparent as possible. Hawk Movers does not provide full coverage moving insurance for your move, as stated in your contract and also in the 'Your Move Is Booked' email that was send after your move was booked. We are governed by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. As a House Hold Goods Carrier we are liable for up to .60 per pound, per article. Hawk Movers LLC. also has the right to deny any or all claims." This response reinforces the problem: they openly acknowledge they don't provide full coverage insurance, yet they market themselves as if claims are rare because they take better care than competitors. My experience shows otherwise -- the "no claims" statistic may be more about the futility of the claims process than the quality of the service. If you are considering Hawk Movers, please read the fine print carefully. If you value your furniture -- especially high-quality pieces -- know that even catastrophic damage will leave you with pennies on the dollar. More importantly, no liability waiver should excuse a company from taking proper care of your belongings in the first place.

All documentation was provided on time, and the movers arrived as scheduled. I had my items moved from Los Angeles, CA to Dallas, Texas in a POD. Unfortunately, my TV was damaged during the move (unclear if it was from the POD, but I doubt that since the TV was against the king size mattress). One of the movers later stated that he had noticed damage to the TV box when he unloaded the tv from POD but did not bring it to my attention at the time, which was very disappointing. However, the owner Joey, took the situation seriously and handled it with genuine empathy and accountability. I was extremely frustrated from the move (it's really a lot to handle) and Joey was kind and patient as he listed to me explain what happened. He suspended the team member involved, made it clear that he wanted to put the customer first, and worked with me to make things right. After I provided the original receipt for my TV, he sent me a check for its full original purchase price and did not waste time to go through insurance. I didn't buy additional insurance, so at most if Joey had went through insurance, I would have received $40/$50 back for my tv at $0.60/lb. He said he wanted to make sure we reached an agreement that felt fair. I truly appreciate Joey's customer first mindset. Although the damage was frustrating, I greatly appreciated how Joey responded. He's been in business for 25 years and stated that accidents happen and what he cares for the most is customer satisfaction. His integrity, compassion, and willingness to stand behind his company ultimately left me with a positive impression. I would highly recommend Eagle Movers and I will definitely be using their services again in the future!
