I had them pack my things they threw things boxes no wrap. These were collectables that I can not replace, They were in such a hurry they my $300 vacuum behind, be careful if you have them. Moving is stressful.. I'd rather hang out at the DMV then move I hate it so much, however, these guys were amazing. The office person made everything so simple. I was able to complete paperwork ahead of time so it made it easy to just sign off and pay the movers. We had three movers and the guys were careful, efficient, and helpful. Patient too because we waited for a 1/2 hour for the person with our keys to arrive. They worked fast and certainly handled everything with care. Avoid Daley Movers at all costs! Our experience moving from CT to NC was beyond horrific! Many undelivered items including electronics, crystal, garden tools, 2hedge trimmers, and even clothing! Smashed china. Broken ceramics. One slashed painting. We did, however, receive 3 cartons clearly marked FLORIDA. We called twice to report the mistake. Calls were not returned. Our attempts to contact the company go unreturned. Letters go unanswered. The post office attempted delivery of a signed receipt requested letter three times. Daley refuses to accept delivery of the letter. Be forewarned. Daley is not a reliable moving company. For your own peace of mind, take your business elsewhere. We wish we had ! read more

Daley did a terrible job in moving us from Connecticut to North Carolina. It is hard to believe how much Daley lost and how much was badly broken . Some of the broken or slashed items appeared to be the result of malicious (internal?) vandalism done while the goods were in Daley's custody . After our unfortunate move , Daley would not return phone calls and refused to accept Certified mail regarding our move . Goods belonging to a Florida bound family were delivered by Daley to our new home . We quickly advised Daley that we had received several moving boxes clearly marked "to Florida" . No response was made and three months later we still have somebody else's furnishing carefully stored in our house waiting to be claimed by Daley. At the very beginning of our move one of the Daley employees asked if we had taken their moving insurance . We foolishly replied , " No , we trust you ." His reply, "You shouldn't ." I wonder what that lad was trying to tell us. After hearing this reply, I must assume that I was not quick enough to recognize that something was very wrong with this move and this mover. read more

Sometimes local isn't good -- if they are thieves. Very difficult to get money back from the estimated amount, which you have to prepay. They overcharged me by more than a thousand dollars. I had to fight via American Express, the Better Business Bureau (worthless), and the Department of Consumer Protection. I had to prevail -- again -- on friends who had helped me pack to attest to their assistance because Daley claimed packing time and boxes -- neither of which were used. They also attempted to charge me -- @ $240 per hour -- 2 1/2 hours of truck time. When they submitted their "proof," the GPS truck log, it proved that what I said was correct. They charged an hour while their truck idled before it left that morning and then another 1 1/2 hours after it returned to Daley HQ. Avoid this company. read more

I recently had a special moving need for some family heirloom furniture. I called Daley Moving & Storage to see if they could help me out. This is going to sound over-the-top, but I can say that Daley Moving & Storage exceeded my expectations in every way: they were communicative; they made the delivery ahead of schedule; they were cool and flexible in accommodating an address change; and the price was entirely fair. They have my highest recommendation. I wish that there were more hard-working, good people like Daley Moving & Storage in this world. Seriously. (When I got the the Yelp webpage to leave my review, I was surprised to see some negative comments. Some of them read as if something unexpected happened, and that Daley Moving & Storage was timely, communicative, courteous, and in the end they worked it all out -- but then the reviewer leaves a one-star review. As an example, one alleges that Daley dutifully wrapped his furniture for the move, but that some things unfortunately broke and he concluded that Daley used CLEAR packing tape to HIDE that something broke? Are you kidding me? The one-star reviews seems entirely unfair to me, and I have got to question the reviewers' judgment and lack of common sense. There are loads of movers in this country that actually deserve a one-star or worse rating because of the way that they treat people and because of their tactics. Daley Moving & Storage certainly is not one of them. Don't use Daley Moving & Storage of Torrington Connecticut. We moved to Florida one year ago in October 2020 and used Daley Moving & Storage to move us out of our home and put our furniture and belongings into their storage facility while we looked for a permanent home in Florida. We asked Daley if they shipped to Florida, and they told us they make frequent trips. Six months later we bought a permanent home in Florida and contacted Daley to have our belongings shipped down. They initially told us that they don't deliver much to Florida anymore because "no one is moving to Florida". After repeated calls, they finally agreed to ship our furniture and belongings down in several weeks. We were told that payment had to be made prior to the move, so we paid them in full at that time. When the truck finally arrived several weeks later in June 2021, approximately 1/3 of our furniture and belongings were missing. I called Daley the next day and was essentially told that I was a liar. I continued to call and finally reached someone who agreed to look in the warehouse. Lo and behold, they found that the movers in October had put some our items into an unmarked storage vault. Again, after several additional phone calls, Daley agreed to bring them down. At the end of another month, July 2021, the truck arrived with some, but not all, of our things. We are still missing pictures, most of our kitchen supplies, and family heirlooms that are irreplaceable. I have continued to call and write to Daley over the course of the last year to request that our belongings be returned to us. I wrote to Gina, the president of the company, on August 27,2021, at her home address, to request that our things be returned. She responded by email on September 20 stating that she would get back to us within a few days. She did not. I emailed her on October 11th and November 1st but did not receive a response. I emailed on November 3 with a suggested review and received a response informing me I would "absolutely" hear from Gina or a Krystle by the end of the day on November 5th. At that time Krystal told us our missing items were delivered by mistake to someone else. Krystal said and they would pick them up around Thanksgiving and arrange to deliver to us. Repeated calls, emails and letters go unanswered and we have not received our possessions. They have no concern on getting us our lost possessions. We have asked them for the location where they are located so we could retrieve the items ourselves with no response from them. Daley has no integrity. To date, we have spent over $1,500 to replace items that were not shipped down when they were supposed to be as well as items that have not been shipped down at all. If there was a rating of negative stars that we could assign to Daley, we would do so. Dealing with them has been a nightmare. read more

I thought initially that this was going to be a great company to deal with. I found the actual people on the trucks to be great. However, the office had no clue as to who was doing what. One hand did not know what the other was doing. I found myself calling them to find out the status of my move since they picked me up and brought me back for storage until they could move me out of state.There was little coordination and little communication , they kept me guessing.They also could not explain one of the charges to my satisfaction. After they delivered, they were done. No call back to see how it went, I guess it made no difference to them.They were courteous and treated me with respect, but that was the extent of it. Absolutely the BEST CREW EVER! I have some experience with moving; as a kid the USFWS moved my family just about every two years. Most of the experiences were stressful for everyone. Daley's, however, made what I expected to be a nightmare simply a piece of cake. From being available for me to come get boxes (we were downsizing and needed to purge so was doing a mostly self-pack) to sending incredibly efficient packers when I called "uncle" on packing the kitchen myself. On moving day, the crew was on time and had my 2700 sf home out the door and on the trucks in just over three hours. Same day arrival, and again, three hours to unload. I wish I could give this company 10 stars instead of only 5! First, they are affiliated with the Susan B. Anthony Project in Torrington, CT. which provides crisis & support services for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. The Daley Moving and Storage Company will move furniture from your home to their warehouse for these women for free. This tells you that the owners and workers at Daley Moving and Storage care for the people of their community. Second, we had a two day move because we were leaving the state. The Daley Movers arrived at our home at the promised time. They were professionals and knew exactly what they needed to do to protect our furniture and the home we were selling from damage. They carefully wrapped my antiques and breakable items such as lamps and a large curio cabinet. Seeing them work as an expert team, made my husband and I feel very confident about the move! The movers also had wonderful personalities and worked hard. The next day, the same men arrived on time, after their 4 hour drive out of state. Our furniture and belongings were in perfect shape. They were courteous and very skilled at their individual jobs. I especially got a chuckle when they rolled out the red carpets all over our new home so as not to get our floors dirty. It was raining so they positioned the truck at an optimal location to minimize water exposure. This meant they could not use the ramp so they had to do more manual work. The Daley Movers did this with pleasure. Thank you Daley Moving the storage! I don't think we could have had a more stress free and pleasant experience. Because Daley's office staff was very knowable throughout our move when we called their office and their expert movers made us feel relaxed and confident during the two day move out of state, my husband and I highly recommend this moving company! There are numerous better options. The office is completely disorganized and lacks professionalism. Follow-up is virtually non-existent. They quoted on the job twice because they couldn't find the first quote. We ended up using them only because we had no other option and were on a deadline. They forgot to pack an entire kitchen cabinet. Furniture was not properly padded and damaged during the move. Boxes were sloppily packed resulting in broken items. When it came to the move itself, they wanted to change everything at the last minute to accommodate another client. The guys who actually did the move were a decent group. The ownership and leadership are the issues. The few times that I actually spoke with the owner, her conversation revolved around her employees being sick and personal issues. Stay away. read more

DO NOT USE!! We hired them September of 2021 for a move from Connecticut to North Carolina. We had a fairly large move as it included two households combined. They filled 4 of their large trucks and had additional items in a box truck they used to move goods from a barn to their big trucks. They loaded all of the household items over 2 full days, numbered stickers were assigned to every box, tub, item they loaded. We were told 2 trucks would deliver to N.C. on Sept.16th and two additional trucks on Sept. 19th. We were also told, once our stuff was in the truck it would not be unloaded and repacked. LIARS!!! 2 Deliveries of 4 plus trucks became 5 deliveries of 3.5 trucks over the next two weeks. At this point we realized we were missing a bunch of items. The furniture was filthy and smelled like cigarettes. The company NEVER communicated any changes of delivery or items that were lost or missing. I had to repeatedly call and email them about our missing items and damaged that we incurred to a fair amount of stuff. They were very RUDE. My family actually had to unload one of the trucks because the driver showed up without any help. When i told them I didn't want to pay in full as the truck was only half full and we were missing so many things, we were told that if we didn't pay, he would stop unloading the truck and leave. AT end of October we submitted an insurance claim with an itemized list for the lost items and the damaged furniture we had to repair with all the receipts. They kept telling us they would look for the missing items. They never actually looked, as when I contacted again in January, they told me they had set a day that month to look for our stuff. This was months after the move. I repeatedly asked about the insurance claim and never got an answer. We have now contacted a lawyer to at least recoup money from the insurance claim to replace some of the items lost and what we had to repair. Please DO NOT USE, extremely unprofessional and accepted a job they could not handle. read more

This company is a nightmare. They have held my items in storage, refused to allow me to see them prior to final payment and threatened to call the police if I showed up to see my items. The they provided me eliminated 4 televisions, my grand piano, china cabinets, media center items valued over $10,000. My collectibles including fine jewelry, 3 ten speed bikes, clothes, shoes, high top maple table as well as my dining wood table. I have been duped. We have paid over $5.300.00 and they tap on an addition $2,000.00 before I can see my stuff. Their quotes are a joke. read more

Moved from CT to SC. Stored our things for about 3 months prior to the move. Then, called to have all of our things delivered. Most arrived, some did not. A week later, they found our things and scheduled another delivery. Even then, everything did NOT arrive. I PURCHASED insurance for a situation like this from THEM. The value of the lost items is approx. $7K. They sent me a check for $350.00. FIND ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY. The rating of a 1 is being generous. read more

I have mixed emotions about this company. The overall move went ok. The problem I had was they broke several items and did not inform us. They waited for us to find them during the offload. They actually used clear packaging tape to hide the broken wooden bench and again used clear packaging tape to hide a broken leg on a antique sewing machine table. Also, a large scratch on a bedroom dresser. A "Professional" would have owned up to the damage. The repair they promised was sub par and unacceptable. After 2 months of trying to resolve the issue - the owner sent us a check for $200. I would never recommend using this moving company. Please take time to read this prior to hiring them: Here's why: About a year ago I hired Daley's Moving and Storage to move my belongings into their storage "crates" while I found a new home. I had three major problems which equals three strikes in my world. 1) I was told by my saleswoman to move as much stuff into my foyer as possible to help reduce costs and make it easier for the moving crew, so I did just that. During the move one of the crew members accidentally dropped a bed frame and put a large hole in the wall. I was told by the worker "don't worry about it, they will take care of it". I sent an email with pictures explaining what had happened. A week later I was informed that they would not stand behind the hole because I had moved items into the foyer resulting in the accident. STRIKE ONE! 2) During my initial move I had a recliner dropped off at another location. Prior to them leaving that location I noticed they had mishandled and broke the recliner that I paid close to $800 for. Again the crew member said "don't worry about it, I'll make a note on the paperwork and you'll be reimbursed". A week later I was notified that I would receive a $50.00 reimbursement check for my $800 recliner. Fast forward almost a year and I still have not received the check for $50.00 and to make matters even worse they say they have no record of it ever happening. STRIKE TWO! After this I sent 2 emails to owner Gina Bunch asking for her help and did not even receive the courtesy of an email back. After the first two incidents I would have NEVER used this company again... however they had my stuff in storage so I was committed. Enter situation #3: 3) During the final drop off of my belongings in my new home I had yet another incident. While unloading my belongings 2 out of 3 crew members continue to ask me questions about my 65" Samsung TV that I had in storage. Trying to convince me to find the plug and test the TV prior to them leaving to make sure it worked. Finally the lead mover pulled me to the side and said: "listen, while we were loading your TV this morning we saw that it was damaged significantly" he proceeded to show me multiple scratches as well as a huge BOW in the entire TV from being strapped too hard. H went as far as to say the manager even noticed it and took pictures of it at the warehouse prior to loading it into the truck. Again, he made notes in his paperwork about it and told me "don't worry, they will make it right". Fast forward 5 weeks. After refusing to reimburse me for my $1,800 TV I asked to speak to the owners. In the past 3-4 weeks I have placed 4 calls into the office asking to speak to one of the owners. Each time I was told "they are working on it and will call you back". Not a single email or phone call. STRIKE THREE! My thoughts on this place are mixed....I called and got a quote right away, but when my plans changed (and they had my deposit $) I couldn't get a straight answer out of anybody in the office for a few weeks. I was about to call and say I was going to fight the deposit charge on my credit card and report them to the BBB, but luckily they called me back before it went that far. They scheduled my new move that week. BUT by far, the best part was the actual moving crew. Rob and his crew were fast and professional and exceeded my expectations. This was by far one of the worst experiences of my entire life. Moving out of state is hard, moving out of state with Daley's is even harder.We were told by Jeff that there would be consistency in this move. A mover and a driver would be the same person. We were told by Jeff that the dismantling done by his staff would be reassembled by his staff at the destination. Jeff also informed us that the wardrobes would be unpacked and that they would be taking the boxes home with them. This is the service we thought we paid for. The reality was there was no consistency, the mover and the driver were not the same person, and there was no unpacking of the wardrobes and The only piece of furniture that was put together was one bed and that took two hours.I realize it is in a moving company based out of Connecticut and we were moving to South Carolina however the company informed us that they do this all the time. Gina,the chief scheduler of the moves, got angry with me because I would not accommodate their schedule because of our schedule at that point was not flexible. We had been discussing this move for three months prior to it even happening. This company was well aware of what we wanted and expected. I wish that I could give a rating less than one. Used Daley Moving & Storage on a move from CT to Minnesota in August. Their loading truck was too small to load everything so they had to use a U Haul to finish loading everything. Daley didn't consolidate loads in Torrington so made 2 separate deliveries to MN. Movers offloaded everything in our garage and propped up and buried an antique 1760 Queen Anne table with only 3 legs (one leg was missing and broken off) in piles of boxes so we didn't discover damage for weeks. Movers never informed us that the leg had been broken off. After a number of unreturned calls and emails they finally informed me that they had found the broken off leg in their warehouse and would send it within the next few days. Finally got the leg with a settlement check for $70.00 weeks later. The table is probably unrepairable given the extent of the damage. They also broke an antique quilt rack and lost several boxes of household items. Sue in Daley's office was always prompt in returning our calls but otherwise calls/emails to others in the office were never returned. Stay away from this company as the owner appears to take no ownership and responsibility for managing the business or the actions of her staff. I know that there are limited options in moving companies when if you are joining the rush out of Connecticut but using Daley will likely not end well if our experience is any indication. read more

I tried my best to use Daley moving but I could never get a quote or call back in any timely way. My first contact with Daley was in March for a move that had to be done by the end of April. The office is definitely disorganized when it comes to call backs. I spoke with 3 different people and no one seemed to know what was going on. I do know that one of the guys was Having a surgery and I can understand the stress that can be caused but there needs to be better communication with potential customers. read more

Just finished moving with Daley today. We presented quite a challenge for the Daley team -- moving my 85 year old Mother (who's thrown nothing away for 60 years) from Connecticut to Massachusetts. I can't say enough about our team -- they packed and loaded two 18 wheelers with all my mom's crap and they were incredibly efficient, friendly and patient (critical when moving an 85 year old!). I would use them again in a heartbeat (although if I have to move my mom again, I'm fairly certain my heart will stop beating). read more

We used this company for an out of state move. We were assured that they could handle an 1800 mile whole household move. The packing crew that came in were overall good. Problem was with their office girl who may have had a scheduled they're employees a little lite and keeped calling and moving some of the packing crew back one forth to other jobs. They managed to pack up our home and load their truck in two days. The driver stated that he would arrive at our new home state in 4 days (Tuesday) and would be unloading the following day (Wednesday) Being that we were planning on taking 3 days to get to our new home this was going to time out well. I contacted the driver when we arrived at our new home to advise him that indeed we were here and ready for his arrival when we were informed that the truck had broke down and he was running a couple of days behind. Being that I'm in the automotive business I understood "things break" and we would able to secure a hotel room while we waited for our things to arrive. He did call when he arrived in our new city and he told us that he was going to stay at his brother in laws overnight and will be at our home in the morning. He arrive at our new home mid morning the following day. Prior to arriving he managed to secure to guys to help in unload and set up our furniture in the new home. Things were put together wrong, lots of scratches, dirt and damage. I've used major moving companies in the past but this time we decided to use this local company because they supposedly are known for be careful with your possessions. I found them to be the exact opposite and no care at all was given to our possessions in transporting, unloading and assembling. I learned to stay with the larger companies and only use a company like this one for small local moving in the Torrington area only.(That provided you don't care if your items get damaged) read more

Horrible owner! She is a nightmare to deal with. I'm leaving my name anonymous in fear that crazy woman will contact me! All of my items were damaged while in storage. I was later notified that NONE of my items were in the "vaults" they claim to put your items in. They were left on the floor of an open warehouse room with everyone else's belongings. There was water damage and appeared that mice were also in my boxes. They have two warehouses and you never know where your items will go. There was no "climate control" as they stated either. This Family owned business is a bunch of thieves! DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUFF. I moved, stored and moved again with this company in 2015. The owner Gina only cares about Gina and not the customer. we filed an Insurance claim for missing and broken things that were gifts bought off our registry fro our wedding and they tried to under valued everything. They broke dishes, lost glass table tops, audio equipment cloths, pottery barn rugs, and other belongings. They claimed it was our fault things broke yet they packed an moved it from one house to another. I would never recommend this "family business" as they are the worst moving company I have ever used. Thieves and a bunch of liars. One of their ex employees warned of this and said it happens frequently and they hope people don't take notice. read more

Definitely not the company you want for a long distance move! Showed up on moving day with a truck that was waaaaay too small and a crew that was way too big and completely unorganized. No one appeared to be in charge. At one point, one of the crew that was standing around decided to ride my exercise bike in the driveway out of boredom! I bought them pizza for lunch and they left it all over the place and I had to run around cleaning up after them. (Found dirty plates in the bathroom, on my deck, slices left in the microwave. Water bottles everywhere.) Didn't call for another truck until most of the crew had left and half of my family was already on the road heading south. Truck arrived over an hour later. Daley stored my items until they had another truck heading south, a month and a half later. At that point, they showed up with many of my items damaged or lost -- and moved other people's items into my storage unit. They folded my king sized mattress in half and wrapped it tight like a taco, forcing me to replace the entire set. Rude driver and crew. Completely careless. Management unwilling to discuss or compensate me on their gross negligence. A total nightmare!! read more
