Salads, deserts, hamburgers, cat fish, steaks (usually very good. There's not much I could write about that this restaurant doesnt do well. However, if youre going to get something fried. Tell them to get it out of the oil when it floats. Sometimes the fried food looks like its a sacrifice to the fryer God's. Speaking of which. My friend ordered a chicken fried chicken today. It is massively big. Great value for the price. I ordered chicken fried steak. It did not disappoint but I thought surely they have improved on those. Its a favorite sandwich of mine to eat anywhere I know there good. Well this is the 3rd chicken fried steak sandwich I've ordered from Dakotas in about a 10 or more knowing I was going to get the same thing. I ordered it today again. Like I said. It did not disappoint because I figured it wouldn't be very good. Well, darned if I was right. It was the size of a hub cap. Impressive right? After I pulled all the breading off that stuck out from under the bun. The real meat and breaded chicken fry was about the size of his hamburger patties. No, he doesnt use hamburger. However, I do believe who ever he buys his meat for his chicken fries from completely misses the boat. Today mine was so bad. I took two bites and I was done. I didnt/couldn't eat the toughest flavorless way the heck over breaded and as usual the worst i ever had. I told the waitress, she said she tried to eat one a few days ago and it was the same way. It wasn't very good. I just couldn't eat mine again today. Its the last one I'll order. This is a very successful restaurant. Great food if you dont mind the over cooked fried foods. Otherwise everything else is great. Average ticket price is at least 30+ $s for two people. I eat there often just not their chicken fry. read more

What a surprising find! We were the first diners to arrive for lunch and there were no other cars, so our expectations were not high. HOWEVER, that changed as soon as we walked through the door. First, having a meal at Dakota's Restaurant is like sharing a meal with your grandma - excellent food and beautiful souls serving you. The ladies (and I saw a gentleman in the kitchen) are all sweet, hustling, kind, and attentive to your every need. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger, 100% Angus Beef, and when I saw "chips" as the side I was anticipating a bag of chips - but these were homemade and DELICIOUS! I had their sweet tea, which I could have drunk a gallon. I had a bit of my sister's Chicken Fried Steak sandwich (she got it sans bun) and it was HUGE and so tasty! Her baked potato was loaded and baked to perfection. The ladies serving were plentiful and touched base to make sure we had everything we needed. They said that they appreciated our visit and hoped that they would see us again. I have to mention that our bill was beyond a great deal! I left feeling wonderfully full - my tummy and my soul. What a completely delightful experience and I will be back soon. Oh, and the entire parking lot and the dining room were full to bursting by the time we left. I guess the word's out! read more

What a Gem of a restaurant when it comes to home cooking this is it had the chicken tenders with homemade gravy homemade mashed potatoes. A little side salad action waitress was awesome places immaculately clean highly recommend this place will definitely be back. read more

I know that the over all rating for Dakotas Restaurant is a 4 star and came highly recommended. My family and I went to enjoy what was supposed to be a good night out with great food. This place seemed at first to be a good popular destination for locals, but the food was sub par and it took almost 45 mins for us the get the food. Once receiving the food parts of our meal was cold, undercooked and some even over cooked. We had dessert and this was the one part of the meal that was supposed to be great, but once again disappointed. If you want to wait, wait and wait some more then you'll be going to the right place. If you have a couple hours to eat, coming here might be a good option if you're local. The food is decent, nothing special. The service is friendly. It just takes WAY too long to get your food. If you have children, eat somewhere else, trust me. They don't really think out where they seat you. We need a high chair for our young child, and they sat us across the small isle from a different table that had a chair sticking in the isle, making it almost impossible to walk through. We ended up having to take our food to go due to waiting too long for the food and our child's clock ran out. Well, I have to admit I was thoroughly disappointed when my friends and I tried to go here to eat last night. First, it says they close at 9. We showed up at 8:08 and stood in the doorway to be seated. There were 4 waitresses, one going to bathroom, two behind the register and one delivering food and checking on current customers. Everyone of them made eye contact at least three times, but never came over to seat us. The sign said wait to be seated. After 5 minutes of waiting and never even being told, give us a second and we will seat you, we just left. This is one of my favorite places to eat, but it will be awhile, if I ever, go back or recommend this place to anyone. Complete disappointment. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. People are so friendly. The portions are just huge. Had chicken fried chicken , mashed potatoes, salad and potato skins. The chicken was some of the best I have ever eaten and way to much for one meal. Me and my wife shared and still had leftovers. Gravy excellent. If I had to choose best part of meal it's potato skins. This is a must order. Our waitress was super friendly too. Decent local diner. People are really nice, the food is really pretty good for what it is. They are in the rotation. Go there probably twice a month, sometimes more. Small locally owned diner with an interesting menu and good food. Service has been very nice. Open only Wednesday through Saturday right in Blanchard. The ribs surprised me for a non-BBQ spot. One of us loved them and one didn't. I guess I have to have a great dry rub to be really happy. But they were super tender and not too fatty so I ate them. The pies...the pies!!! I do not even likes pies! But, these homemade wonder desserts have turned my tastes! ALL of the pies are HOMEMADE AND EXCELLENT! The chocolate and coconut are Out of this World delicious! IF YOU CAN EVEN GET A SLICE! They sell out. Whole pies must be ordered ahead of time because they sell so quickly by the slice. This is very much a small town diner. The quality of the food is top-notch for very reasonable prices. The only downside that I could find if I had to put a con, is that due to the limited hours of operation, the wait for your food can be a little long. However this factor can be turned into a pro in that you walk in a stranger, but you walk out feeling like you gained some friends. Pros: Very friendly staff Food is fresh and wonderful Very appealing specials i.e. unlimited ribs, all you can eat catfish, etc. Very good pricing, first visit was a party of 6 adults and a baby and the whole check was right around 50 dollars.
