If you seal it, a Red Cedar fence can last for 25 years.) Many of the pickets/boards are split and separating. The nails are coming out. The rails are split. The posts are split. To say I shopped out the quoting process would be an understatement. Jeff's quote was very fair, easy to understand, and on the lower $ range due to not having the overhead of most other companies. In the end, I decided to go with Archwood for my project and I'm so glad I did. Unlike most other contractors who over quote and rush through the job to maximize profits, Jeff will take whatever time is needed to do the job right...period. Here is the thing that is pretty rare: he listens AND is patient. Any concerns I had along through the project as I'm anal when it comes to details and perfection and any changes I wanted to make during the project, he not only listened, but he made sure my concerns were completely addressed each and every instance. I can't speak highly enough of the character of this young man. In my case, he underbid my job with the time it took for him to complete this big project and because he went over and above on getting the job done right to my satisfaction, I gave him a 60% cash bonus because he flat out deserved it. The deck looks incredible. In sum, Jeff and Archwood was not the fastest option as he does the majority of the work himself, but if you want the job done right by a man who is meticulous with details, with integrity and pride of doing great quality work (as if it was his own home), Jeff is the man for the job. Sounds like 5 starts so far. About a week later I was in my yard with my dogs and noticed one got out and was on the other side of the fence! I looked and saw a board that they didn't bother to even nail in. No big deal mistakes happen. This prompted me to check every single board on the fence and found they did this for at least 10 of the boards! I also found a bunch of other issues with cracking boards, incorrect scalloping, 2x4s cracked and warped. Ugh. The fun part was trying to get them to come back out. I had to call for literally two weeks. I never once got a response. I reached out to my sales guy, and he did come out to report the complaint. So I waited a week and once again i ever heard from them. I had to follow up again, and they told me "the guy that does that has been on paternity leave".... Who cares? I'm not asking THAT guy to come, I'm asking your COMPANY to come. Let the guy spend time with his baby, but it's your job to have a plan for that as a business. This isn't some small rinky dink operation. Eventually I turned into a big enough jerk to them that they came out,l to shut me up, but It was overall a pretty crappy experience in the end. But I do have a fence, so i guess that's why they get an additional star. I would however never recommend them to anyone.
