The barista is a pretentious prick. Won't give you their undivided attention while taking your order because he isn't finished making the prior customers order and then screws up the order. He then tries to claim that a flat white is the same thing as a cappuccino whilst making an insulting comment towards Australians. I should have went to vibrant coffee around the corner. And to my guy here: when someone orders two different drinks, don't make the same drink and try to play it off like your some superior barista; your job is to serve coffee as it's ordered, that's it. Was looking for a new spot to try out coffee and I went on here of course to see which place to pick from. I saw great reviews about how amazing the coffee and honey is here. Needless to say this spot deserves all its flowers because the coffee is phenomenal. I was greeted instantly by the people behind the counter. They were friendly and it was full of people who were also super friendly. It is a small cozy space with tons of other drinks and cool products to pick from. I had a hot pistachio honey oat latte and I savored it for a few hours because it was really that good. The coffee had a fruity and nutty taste that made my taste buds so happy. Daisy Chain has become a regular stop for me when I'm in town for work. I believe it was initially recommended to me by a colleague to meet clients near our office, but it's turned into a morning landing even on personal adventures in Des Moines. Seating is limited and when it gets busy, the line clogs up between the tables. I don't find it to be a good working spot for this reason, but that hasn't stopped me from meeting folks here to chat. I believe all the artwork is local and much of it is for sale, so keep your eyes peeled. The attention to detail extends to ingredients including local honey and canned drinks. I've really enjoyed the chai or miel with a chocolate croissant. The staff are usually really friendly. I tend to get lucky with parking - it's downtown, metered street spots out front with some public lots/ramps nearby. read more

Amazing spot that ended up being 3 or so blocks from my hotel stay on a work trip. I was able to avoid the hotel coffee situation and have my fave morning pick-me-up, an 8 oz. red eye!!! I also purchased some of their Ethiopian beans, which I like to do at shops when I am on a trip. The owner is very warm and chill and friendly. It was fun to find out they sometimes serve and often sell Wonderstate beans from the Madison area. 10/10 would recommend and go again and again!!! read more

Time and time again the awarded Daisy Chain is my 10/10 coffee shop. As a WFH (+ espresso enthusiast), I sit and work as dozens of coffee shops monthly. By far, Daisy Chain has the BEST espresso. Absolutely loved everything about this place. Raygun was full of really cool little trinkets & all that, but the coffee was the star. I wish I had gotten the name of where the pastries came from because wow that scone was probably the best scone I've ever had. It was a season cranberry scone of sorts, and I'll think about it until I visit again. Now back to the coffee. Holy cannoli, they have done it right. The balance of flavors, not too sweet, is stellar. You can tell that each drink is made with love. The barista (and im assuming owner?) was so funny. We were staying nearby and were walking around in the morning looking for coffee. We did the touristy thing and stopped someone with a Daisy chain cup and they directed us here. We went into this little store and stood in a long, but quick-moving line, and ordered an espresso and cold brew. The staff were really nice and easygoing. There was a nice, relaxed vibe about the place. I really like my espresso, however, the cold brew was terrible. It wasn't a bad brew or anything, we just really did not like the coffee itself - just personal preference. But, that might just be us. I recommend you try it for yourself. read more

I love Daisy Chain in DSM! The Miel and the Pistachio latte are wonderful. The coffee is one of my favorites in the US. Very kind staff with quick intentional chats and the line is fast paced if there is one. The wax mini sculptures are very fun and unique. A must go to when in DSM! Everything here is super tasty. Shockingly good pastries in the morning (seems like they go fast), great coffee... and they serve local honey-infused items that (I've heard, haven't tried) are great. Why 4 stars? They only serve pour overs if they happen to have an open bag of single origin going. It's not even on their menu. It's AWESOME that they were able to make me one! But... why not just have one going all the time? Or better yet, a couple of beans available? Maybe pour overs aren't popular enough in DSM to make it worth it, idk. The pour over was SOLID though. Also... there seems to be a sewer backup/smell going =/ hopefully they fix that soon. The pluses here are so good that they deserve 6 stars (fantastic local food/drinks, very friendly people) but the negatives need to be addressed (pour overs are an afterthought, sewer backup, spotty wifi). If I come back to Des Moines will DEF stop in here again, and can hopefully give them the 5 stars they deserve. read more

This is a great coffee shop that offer both decaf and oat milk. The oat milk seems to be oatly which is the best brand and tastes the best in coffee. I have had a great experience with Dan in terms of conversation, quality of drink and service. I came in on Saturday and the person working seemed very distracted. There was a line of about 4 people including me and it took over 20 minutes to just reach the register. Then another 5 minutes for the coffee to be ready. I have lived in busy cities and never waited this long to have someone just take my order. Out of the 4 people in line 1 stormed out and seemed irritated with the wait time. Safe to say I will not return on weekends and potentially during week if this person is working as I don't have time for a wait time like this. read more
