The inside is clean and relaxed, the kind of place where you actually want to sit down and take your time rather than rush through a meal. We showed up fairly close to closing, which I'll admit gave me a little hesitation, but any concern went away the moment we walked in. The owner greeted us warmly and there wasn't a hint of "please wrap this up" energy the entire time. In fact, while we were there, new customers came in after us right as closing approached, and they were welcomed just the same; orders taken, no visible frustration, no attitude. That kind of hospitability is genuinely rare and doesn't go unnoticed. The chicken momos came out fresh and had great flavor. Pricing felt good for what you get. Pro: Hospitality here is the standout. Owner clearly cares about the experience, not just the transaction. Con: Nothing. Adorable hidden gem in Iowa! Stopped by Mayalu with my dad while road-tripping from the East Coast to the West, and we were both pleasantly surprised. We each grabbed a large cold brew--mine with a splash of 2% milk and sugar-free caramel--and they were delicious and refreshing for the road ahead. The cold brew was on the lighter side, but still smooth and enjoyable. The baristas were so kind and welcoming, and the interior? Even better than I expected. Cozy seating, cute decor, and a peaceful ambiance with some unique touches (like floor seating by the window!). You can tell a lot of thought went into creating a warm and inviting space. The spicy chai was as advertised. Many times chai is sweet without any spice. This was is spicy and not overly sweet. It is also piping hot so take your time to enjoy the aromas before taking a gulp. The Savory Sunrise sandwich was also very good. This is worth a stop read more

What a sweet spot! Partner and I stopped in for coffee and breakfast. Staff was nice and eager to tell us about the menu for being our first time. The breakfast sandwiches were hot and delish. We stopped in around 10am on a Saturday morning and the person behind the counter explained the menu, offered recommendations, and was super patient with us newbies. I opted for the masala cold brew and the Gourmet Clucker to eat. We also split the Samosas and they were very tasty and warm when they came out! After just a few minutes, I had both items in hand and sat down at a table. There are plenty of seating options and even an area in the front to take off your shoes and sit at a table on floor cushions which is a great option! The cold brew was very tasty! I liked the caramel drizzle and the spice from the masala was excellent. It actually reminded me of autumn in flavoring which I personally really loved. The Gourmet Clucker was delicious and hearty. It's chicken sausage, egg, gouda, served on a brioche bun. Again, well seasoned, hot when it came out, and the bun was pillowy! We sat for awhile and played a board game while people came in droves! Just stopped by Mayalu coffee for the first time today. The Mexican Mocha had just the perfect amount of sweetness to it and the curry puff was handmade right there in house and oh so delicious! I will definitely be back for the blackberry white mocha and to try some other food or maybe the chicken curry puff again cause it was just that good! Service was super fast and the employees were super kind and helpful. The seating area is cute and has comfortable seating. They even have a drive through if you need something quickly on the go and don't want to get out of your car. It has tasty notes of saffron & honey! I also ordered the Samoich, a flattened samosa sandwich w/fresh mozzarella & spinach. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what a delicious combo of a warm moist bun, gooey cheese, and the savory taste of a samosa! Highly recommend!!! The inside of the store is so cute! We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon, about 5pm. The door advertised they close at 5 however the barista confirmed they are open until 7pm. The interior is clean with a modern cozy vibe. There is plenty of seating within. The girl behind the counter smiled and greeted us as we looked over the menu items. We landed on our usual order, hot Americano. I decided to also order some sweet treats. We shared the chocolate avalanche, warmed and dusted with confectioners sugar. The pastry was buttery and the chocolate inside was perfectly sweet. We also shared the strawberry cream cheese Danish. "Strawberry?" he said, "that's my jam!" The strawberry filling tastes like real strawberries and the cream cheese complements beautifully. As for the Americanos, the coffee is extremely hot, just the right amount of bitter, and a generous size. We recommend this gem on the busy south side and will absolutely return. read more

This is a great local coffee shop! The coffee is great and the employees are nice. I've gotten a chai and a mocha from Mayalu and they were both the best versions of the drinks I've ever had. The employees were really nice and the interior of the shop is beautiful. It would be a great place to sit and do homework or catch up with friends. If you are going grocery shopping in the area I highly recommend stopping here instead of starbucks- it's cheaper, faster, and better coffee! read more
