Came here yesterday with my friend for a coffee date. I got a iced matcha and she got a iced coffee. The cashier was really nice and we ordered quickly to grab a seat. It was popping in there but we were still able to find a area to sit in the back. The matcha was great and my friend enjoyed her coffee. We enjoyed each other's company for a few hours and when we left we grabbed another drink to go. She grabbed a matcha and I grabbed a decaf tea made of cherries, apples and cinnamon. I forgot the name but it was really good. Reminded me of a traditional tea we have in México called ponche also made out of a bunch of fruits and cinnamon. Also the glass jars you get to go are so cute and I definitely will be reusing it for my drinks. Recommend for anyone to come here. I think it's one of my favorite coffee shops now!

Horizon Line Coffee delivers on all fronts! Comfortable space with lots of natural light, great service, and exceptional coffee. I ordered a Flat White with a touch of maple syrup and sea salt, and my hubby got a cortado. The beans they use are smooth and balanced, very enjoyable to the last drop. Baristas were friendly and even brought our drinks to us. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Des Moines.

Wanna feel cool? Get a drink here. I was really hoping some of the coolness sitting in the tables around me would rub off on me. I will let you know. Just the right amount of coffee and tea options. Love that they trust customers to take glass containers and return when you are there next. Loved it.

Wanting to look for more coffee places to go, I saw that Horizon Line Coffee was somewhere I have never been to before. Going in, the place was packed with many people studying and in meetings. There was a good amount of seating available for those dining in and the aesthetic was nice. The only thing I wish was added was more lighting in the back of the shop, as it feels a bit dark, but other than that the space was nice! The person checking us out was very sweet. Ordering our coffee was simple and quick. They had their espresso menu on the wall, but if you're a person who is not a fan of coffee, they have non-espresso options to choose from as well. I would also like to mention, the price for the coffee here is so affordable when comparing the price to other places I've been to. Receiving our order, I got a beautiful latte art on my matcha latte! My friend got a chai latte which was nicely spiced up. Both tasted great and were smooth to consume! If I were to get more from here, I am sure everything else would taste just as good. I am excited to come back again and share this location with friends and family.

Great experience all around! Fair amount of space with a nice, relaxed ambiance, and friendly service. I got the seasonal peppermint sugar cookie latte and it tasted exactly how it sounded and was very good! Also tried the match which was very good! *Cool extra thing they do is they serve to go orders in glass and you can rinse it out and return it when you come back and it'll get recycled.

Love love love this coffee shop. If I lived in Des Moines I would go here all the time. So happy I made this discovery while visiting. Love the glass reuse program. Such a smart concept. And the drink I had was really delicious. If you live in Des Moines or are just visiting, this is a must try.

Espresso: As an avid espresso drinker, horizon line is the best in class. They take care in their espresso. The espresso is always unique and interesting Service: Attentive and quick. They always mention where the bean is from and truly make the espresso drinking experience impeccable. Ambiance: The coffee shop is often packed and can be a little loud at times. I think they need to get a new space as they seem to be very popular and could use a bigger and better sound dampening environment. Overall best espresso in Des Moines, could not recommend enough if you are in to espresso

I'm honestly surprised I haven't made a single review for this place yet because I've gone here numerous times already. They're a local favorite coffee shop that is well-loved by the locals. Sustainable packaging, openly inclusive, and the staff wears mask in 2023. The seating is fairly limited on a busy day but I haven't had a problem so far. They have a clean aesthetic, and the noise level isn't loud so I see many people hanging out and reading. Ok so what did I order? They were on their winter menu so I got "Ill give you the moon." The sea salt and tahini was a combo I've never had in a latte before but definitely enjoyed. Also the Colombia pour over came to us with a second container for refills so that was a nice surprise too. I'll keep coming back to this place of course :)

I was in town just for a day so I wanted to make sure I at least got one nice cup of coffee and Horizon Line definitely delivered that ! The inside of the coffee shop was well lit with a minimalist look with greenery added around. Plenty of seating and space in between. Greeted by the friendly staff. I'm always thankful when the service is kind and open! When arriving I pretty much had my order made up but then I saw they had a summer menu and decided to order from there. My partner and I decided on the cherry Coke latte and Thai tea latte both iced. For to go I didn't expect that we got these cute reusable jars that I'm happy to have. As to the coffee, I surprisingly loved the cherry Coke it's hard to explain but it pairs well with coffee. And if I could I would actually order it occasionally. As for the Thai tea it's different from what I've had in a sense of Thai tea and coffee being mixed. Unique in the way that I like how subtle the tea is to the coffee as it compliments the coffee instead of overpowering it and for that I think that's impressive. If you live in Des Moines or just passing by like me - I'd definitely grab a cup of coffee from here :)

The coffee and the pastries are awesome! I was traveling through Des Moines on business and stayed about 1 mile away. I wanted to get a little bit of a walk in as well as a coffee so I chose Horizon line coffee. In this picture, you'll see a decaf, coffee, a drip coffee, and the best pumpkin chocolate chip cake/bread/muffin I've ever had. (Don't tell my wife) I was able to get a drip coffee that seem to be about a medium roast. Coffee was very good. The decaf coffee was also very good. They only offered it in an Americano. It was also about a medium roast and very smooth. This is the first place that I've gotten a jar and Coozie as a to go cup. It definitely will keep your very hot Americano Very warm for you! I do like the no waste idea and the very next day I stopped at a coffee roaster in Kansas City and they also used glass jars. I could get used to this. Highly recommend horizon line for your next cup of coffee.

I absolutely love this place! We are on a road trip and decided to stop in Des Moines for the night. We grabbed coffee here based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint! The coffee is delicious and the employees are very friendly and kind. They use reusable dishes and silicone straws (not paper, so you can actually drink from them and not metal so it doesn't affect the taste of your drink), which is great! There are some things that I wish were different: 1. The seating isn't very comfortable. They have metal stools and wood benches, without cushions. No problem if you want to socialize for a little bit, but not great for long periods. 2. They are very socially inclusive (which is fabulous--their bathroom signs alone made me want to applaud), but they aren't very inclusive with dairy choices. I wish they offered non-fat and 2% milk. They only offer whole milk, oat milk and almond milk. I love oat milk but I only use Oatly Barista Edition because it's very creamy (they use a different brand that I have found to be too thin). Almond milk is too watery for me, so I went with whole milk. My stomach will hate me, but oh well. 3. I wish they offered 18 oz. drink sizes. When we ordered, we realized they only offer 12 oz. portions. Not a crisis, but if you want to enjoy an amazing cup of coffee to wake you up, you'll need to order two drinks (maybe that's a "me" problem!). Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to come back here. Highly recommend!!

Yes they have hot teas. The oolong is my favorite.

Had good seating and some cushioned seating against the wall. I checked out their website before visiting so I was looking forward to grabbing a muffin, however their display case was empty so I wasn't sure if they had some in the back or aren't available at this location, but my introverted self was too shy to ask. I ordered an iced "Caramelized Almond Latte", it was okay, however I like my drinks more on the sweet side, so if I were to come back I would ask for some extra caramel or something. The coffee shop itself was clean but after a while I got a little chilly. Bathroom was nice and clean. Overall nice coffee shop and would recommend if you want something with a similar but calmer Starbucks vibe.

Shop is cold and has an industrious feel. Ordering menu is large! Overwhelming. Food is served here. Glass case located next to payment area has traditional pastries. No plant based/vegan options. It looked as if there were no pastries. Visited a couple times already and it looked the same. Service was stiff. Nothing extraordinary. Was hoping service would be better the second time around. Ordered a medium oatmilk latte and large iced chai tea latte. But received a medium instead. Asked to have drink size corrected but they wanted to charge for the correction. Total came to $11.xx Upcharge on the oatmilk. I appreciate plant based milk options. Lots of open seating inside and outside. 2 employees were working and were masked. Every patron entering were masked. Masks are required to enter. Ok to drink w/o mask. Drink cooler needs to be handled by an employee. Noticed the in-house roaster. Roast is slightly smooth and made with good flavor. Recognized shop is a franchise. I might come back if I was in the neighborhood. I may recommend if I come back and try again, but I will have to be aware if better service is provided. Other than that, drinks were Dunn...but just ok.
