Below is a letter I've just written to Daiso headquarters. I'll be sure to provide an update if any favorable response is received: I bought a product from my local Daiso store less than a week ago, but I do not have a receipt. The product did not meet my expectations. It was a small sandwich toaster contraption. I spent time in the store trying to figure out how to use the item, but the instructions on the back are partially in foreign language, and also in small print. When I used the item, the contraption burned over my stove top. It also became too hot for safe use. Until till now, I have been a raving fan of your store. However, I have been informed by the assistant manager that no return will be accepted without a receipt. This is the first return or exchange I've ever tried to make in your store. Bear in mind that this product is not sold in any other local store. (It is clearly a product of your store.) I asked to speak to a higher up, but the assistant manager said that the general manager will say the same thing. The item cost approximately $5.50. I am very disappointed, and I do not plan to ever shop in your store again. I am also inclined to let other people know that there is little guarantee that products will meet their expectations. I popped in here out of curiosity because my sister has shopped at one in Carrollton. It's like a bright, absolutely gleaming cross between Dollar Tree and Five Below except more organized, cleaner, cuter and brighter. And when I say gleaming I mean that literally. I bought a nice gray and white striped apron for less than 5 bucks. I really like this store and will definitely shop here again. read more

The workers are very nice but don't buy any food here. I found bits of mold in every piece of a bag of hi chews, and saw many items on the shelf that were out of date. Be careful with their food. Probably has been sitting on the shelves for a very long time. Gross. read more

The best store ever! Everything there is very high quality, and affordable! Almost everything in the store costs $1.50. I love Daiso! This place is dangerous but I mean that in the very best way possible. They have so many things I never knew existed much less needed in my life. I've been to several of their locations across the DFW area and they are by in large pretty much the same. That's a good thing as you tend to know what you are getting into going in. In essence, it is a Japanese dollar store. The stores are always bright, clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. What more could you possibly want in a store? I'm a huge stationery fan. This store has some really amazing deals in this area. My tip would be to be aware of where the products were manufactured. Buy items that are actually made in Japan as my experience with other countries have been a mixed bag. They have amazing products across the store and I could certainly see myself going overboard with my purchases here. My understanding is that my hometown of Houston, TX has a Daiso store though I have checked it out yet. I need to remedy that soon. read more

I went in today and I was surprised at how bright it was in there...shockingly sterile. But besides the aesthetic, I walked around looking for a cosmetics organizer but all I found was that I was being followed around. I was offended to say the least. It just seemed like an unwelcoming place. I didn't feel comfortable so I left. I saw a few things I wanted to buy but I don't spend my money in places where I am followed around. It's the Japanese Dollar Store ya'll. There's one in Carrolton too, but this one is close to one of my offices. They have the most random stuff here. Bento boxes? Sure- you get OCD about your lunch. Anyone who shops at DAISO needs to understand their NO RETURNS-NO EXCHANGES bizarre policy. I was at the counter paying for my items when I realized after using my credit card and process the sale that the candy I was purchasing MORINAGA DARS CHOCOLATE was not the type I wanted so while still standing at the counter, I asked the sales cashier that I had chosen the wrong type of candy and preferred the white chocolate of the same brand over the dark chocolate. The clerk grimaced when I asked him if it was OK to switch items and at that point another clerk standing by said rather sternly, "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN OR EXCHANGE ONCE YOU PAY FOR IT!' I have heard of store policies that protect the store over the right of the consumer, but this attitude and the manner in which it was delivered to me was absolutely crazy! I could understand if I had opened it in line and realized my error or even leaving the store and trying to come back to effect the trade, but to basically tell a customer with NO EXCEPTIONS while the customer is standing at the register that the store policy takes precedent over the customer being a satisfied one is really creepy! I am only glad I was allowed to leave the store without my name being addressed over the store intercom system that my transgression was worthy of being banned from ever shopping at a DAISO again. Let's say next time a customer tries to change his mind about something before paying, only to be told that once again the policy is etched in store under penalty of death! Fun! I used to go to the Daiso store in Carrollton but that was really far out of my way. I was excited to see that one was opening much closer to home. I had never been to a Daiso before. When I went inside I felt transported. I originally went there because I wanted to see if there some inexpensive toys or stickers I could buy. They have some stuff but not as much as I hoped. However, there was a lot of great inexpensive home goods products, and school supplies, and organizational products. I think some of the Stockers were Japanese and were talking back in forth. Was like a mix between Target, and a Dollar store with a Japanese twist. I will be back. read more

This is a great place to go if you don't want to spend a lot. The prices range from $1.50-$10, but mostly are $1.50. They have a variety of great products that are cheap but last a long time. I'm so glad they opened a Daiso near me! Not only the location, but I was very excited they opened one period! I shop at Daiso in Japan whenever I'm there visiting so I couldn't be happier that there is one here now. They have pretty good items here for the price and I stock up on the ramune drinks every time I come.
