Service was excellent as well as the ice cream! Efficient even with a line going through the drive through.

With my job, I eat out quite a bit so it takes a little more to impress me. First, the staff was great! The owner even came around to make sure all was good. If you are within an hour drive from Palmyra, you need to try this place. Not really for families with young children, but it would make a wonderful date night. (or apology meal. LOL) I will be going back here for sure. Especially this summer when the outdoor seating is open.

They took one of the classic homes on Main Street and turned it into a restaurant, with lots of outdoor seating on a patio out front, a bar and high top area in the main room to the right, but quieter dining in the back and upstairs. It's bright and clean, but still keeps that old feel. They have a full menu; this visit I was in with a friend and we both opted for steak dinners, which are served with choice of sides and sauce. Prices are reasonable for the area and quality of the food, but definitely higher than a typical meal out in town. They also have a wonderful beer list, with lots of local choices and fresh kegs. Service was great, we had a friendly server who was attentive all evening. I can definitely see why this place is still around and as popular as ever; if you're looking for something a little more special in the area, this is worth the trip.

The menu immediately caught my eye with its local flair, and it did not disappoint. They happened to be hosting trivia night, which was such a fun surprise and gave the place great energy. I ordered the chef's special crabcake sandwich, and it was outstanding--perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Easily the highlight of my night and exactly what I needed after a long day. Kelsey and Kristen were absolute standouts--warm, engaging, and incredibly welcoming. Even as someone from out of town, I was treated like a regular, which made the experience even better. Between the food, atmosphere, and people, this will absolutely be a regular stop for me on future work trips. Highly recommend.

There are two of these in the area, we weren't quite sure which one to hit, so we opted for the one closer to our hotel in Hershey. We arrived just as they were opening at 11:00 am for lunch. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender and the server. They were the only two working up front, but it was fine; our entire time there, only one other table came in (this was on a Friday). The inside was nice, and we were seated by a fire. The only gripe I have is that the chairs seemed to be the wrong size/height for the tables. But other than that, the place looked good. My wife ordered a beer flight with an assortment of sours and a wheat. I went for the Annville IPA Bold Cask. It was a really, really good beer. Smooth, fully-bodied, and with a good amount of hops. Plus, it's 9.8%, so if you ask me, that's a great way to start off a lunch! The beer flight was decent, but more my wife's thing. Now onto the food. There were a lot of great choices, and we were starving, so of course, everything looked good. We always order for our six-year-old first so they can eat while we relax. We ordered him the hot dog and tots. For our apps, we ordered the Tator Tot Nachos: house cheese sauce, fresh pico, scallions, jalapenos, cilantro lime sour cream, and chicken. And also the smoked wings with hot sauce. I'm always a fan of tator tots, maybe it's because I never had them as a kid, or they really are that good. But these were perfect on a cold day in central PA when you're hungry. The right amount of salt on the tots, crispy exterior and creamy inside, plus the toppings (I love fresh jalapeño). The wings were okay, but this was to be expected. They're smoked, and as much as I love smoked food, you never get the skin crispy (especially on wings). They had a slight smoke flavor and a good sauce, but I'm a "well done" wing guy, so these I would pass on next time. By the time we were going to order lunch, my wife realized she was already full, and we still had a decent amount of food left. So she just picked at the appetizers. I was getting there myself, but I wanted to try a burger. I ordered the Pub Burger: 8 oz, Cooper Sharp, red pepper-bacon jam, dill pickle aioli, lettuce, brioche, and fries (because who can resist more fried potatoes). It came out perfectly medium rare as I ordered and seasoned well. I was apprehensive about the red pepper-bacon jam; I'm not a fan of sweet, but in this case, it worked. It was a great burger (although I only ate a quarter of it). The service was good, and she was very personable and polite. But one thing that was strange. She was on the phone almost the entire time we were there with whom she said was the owner (or maybe a manager). We heard her discussing the reservations and large parties coming in. This was a long call, and while I know there wasn't a lot going on in the restaurant, we felt at times we needed something, and she was busy talking. I'm not blaming her; if it were the owner or manager, they should certainly know better and keep it short. But when she was there, she was great. All in all, a great recommendation from a friend that we are happy we stopped to try. We will be back again, maybe sooner than our annual trip to Hershey!

They have a big menu, lots of beers on tap, and some really good specialty cocktails. The only thing to note is that when it gets really busy it can feel a little congested and noisy, but overall the atmosphere is comfortable and has a really good vibe. I can't remember our server's name, but he was super friendly, personable, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. Prices are reasonable for the area and a night out. I've been many times but recently came for a family meal that was on bingo night. We all had meals, tried some craft beer, and played bingo. Our server was new but tried her best and we had a great experience. My only slight disappointment was a lot of the beers I wanted to try were out, with nothing to replace them. I ate an autumn salad with Brussels sprouts and loved it; other family had fish, soup, and cake. All the food was a hit. If you're looking for a family dining experience with quality food and ingredients, plus a good beer selection, this is a great option in Palmyra.

The place has a very casual, come-as-you-are bar-and-kitchen vibe, which fits the area well. Nothing felt overly polished or fancy, and that is not a criticism. It seemed like the kind of local spot where people can just show up, relax, and get a solid meal. The problem was the service on this visit. We showed up right around the breakfast-to-lunch transition and thought we had made it in time for breakfast, but apparently not. We got seated pretty quickly, which made it seem like things were moving along, but then we sat there for about 20 minutes with water glasses and no water, and really no meaningful attention at all. By the time someone finally came over with the water, we were already done and decided to head somewhere else down the street. It was also getting fairly loud while we were sitting there, and the staff seemed tired or stretched thin, so I would not be surprised if we caught the place at a bad moment, maybe during a shift change or just an awkward transition between breakfast and lunch. The restaurant was busy, which usually says something good, and the food we saw going to other tables looked pretty solid. That is why I landed on 3 out of 5. This was not a bad experience in the usual sense. It was more of a non-experience. We never got far enough to judge the food, and I do not think it would be fair to hammer the place over one oddly timed visit. But sitting that long without even getting water was enough for us to leave.

We didn't make any special reservations for this particular visit, but decided to go in on a whim around 7:30 p.m. After a short wait for a table, the hostess, waitress, and manager had asked me if we had a problem during our last visit, which was back in February. To be honest, I hardly ever have any sort of problems when it comes to this place, but I found it quite odd that that was the big question of the evening. Our food was prepared accordingly, and honestly tasted heavenly! My only beef is the portion size of the meals. It seems that because of economic twists and turns, some establishments are cutting back on loading up people's plates with fries and sides. I think my platter had a total of 15 French fries, and the size of my 6 ounce sirloin was 30% fatty, especially in the middle of the steak. I left the last piece on the fork for the staff. My kids complained that they're Jr. Ranger meals were, in a word, measly. Had I known that, I would have ordered a bigger portion for each of them. We went down the street to Dairy Queen for dessert. Our waitress was really nice, and was very helpful while we were there. I look forward to our next rendezvous at the Roadhouse!
