Wow, the outlets are a ghost town! But Dairy Queen is still kickin', and that's why I was here! I needed a Buster Bar after a long work day...unfortunately, this location didn't have any! Super bummer. The employee working was super nice and she even suggested the Peanut Buster Parfait and said that adding the cone dip would give it that little crispy chocolate shell that makes the Buster bar so satisfying. I ended up just ordering a little Oreo hot chocolate Blizzard. That was a great choice! It tastes pretty much exactly the way you might expect; chocolate ice cream with Oreo pieces in it, and a little cap of whipped cream to top it off. 3 stars for Dairy Queen, and for not having the item I wanted, but I will add an extra star for the employee! Nothing better than DQ on a beautiful day in the outlets.. I haven't been to a DQ in FOREVER! My boy hasn't been to one since he was even smaller, so this was a nice treat for him after an A+ on his dentist visit. I figured he deserves a lil something sweet after saying no you can't until your dentist appointment lol. He got his chocolate dipped cone (Medium) and we ended up getting a Reese's Extreme Blizzard. Man oh man the actual Reeses candy that's in it is life changing. I don't mind the pieces, but when they throw those candy bites in there, it doesn't get any better than that. This place is the size of a shoebox, don't even try and come in here if you have a stroller. We were lucky to snag a table as people were leaving, but my baby stroller literally blocked two other tables but neither family sitting there seemed to mind. We put in our order, 3 chicken & waffles, #1 burger combo and an upgrade to mini blizzards was way over $50! When I checked the receipt after, it was $13.99 for the hamburger combo and upgrade! Our blizzards we asked for first came out relatively quick and the employees kindly delivered them to our table. Very disappointing as two were already melted. We were drinking them like milkshakes in a matter of a few minutes. The food followed quickly as well, but they got our chicken & waffles order wrong and gave us toast instead. My oldest goes up to inform them and they had the nerve to take the toast back (probably to recycle for another order, but gross) and we had to get up and go back yet again to get the corrected order! The burger was a joke, it was a tiny mess that looked like you could get off the dollar menu at a fast food joint. The older Asian man (I'm assuming the owner since he was in plain clothes) who screams your number over and over really grated on my nerves and it was obnoxious. We love Dairy Queen and regularly enjoy the Burgers, Orange Julius drinks and varied ice cream treats in many locations. First visit to this DQ located in a fairly deserted mall in Lake Elsinore, but an unusual and quite disappointing experience however. DQ is currently running a national ad campaign offering your choice of two listed items for $5, or a featured combination for $7. We entered the small, but apparently well-maintained facility and were immediately greeted by a friendly counter person. I ordered the two cheeseburgers for $5 advertised special. The counter person replied that this DQ does not participate in the nationally advertised programs, but would sell me the two cheeseburgers for $6.99 each. Thats $13.98 for what should have been $5. I replied that we wouldn't be getting the two burgers but would like two Orange Julius drinks to go. The counter person said that this DQ has chosen not to offer Julius drinks here, but had other beverages available. I said we will eat somewhere else and left. Dairy Queen corporate needs to reign in these rogue franchises that want to operate under their own guidelines and make their participation in national promotions a requirement to keep their DQ franchise. An unfortunate visit to a subpar DQ location that will not see our return. It comes with toast and sauce and it's actually pretty filling. The ice cream is great as usual. But the manager is an idiot. I asked him for a banana split on a waffle. He said he couldn't do that cause the franchise doesn't allow him to. So I answered they sell waffles by themselves he said yes OK can you take a bit out of split and put it on that wall fall pay for the extra waffle. This place is my guilty pleasure. I'm a sucker for a good blizzard. I always order a Reese's blizzard with butterfinger and boy do they hook it up with the amount of candy they put in it. Literally every single bite is full of chunks of delicious peanut butter and chocolate candy. The employees at the register are always pleasantly polite and accommodating. I absolutely LOVE their cheese curds too! I don't know any other place that sells actual cheese curds and gets it right! Their other isn't that bad either for a place that mostly just sells ice cream and sweets. My only complaint is the prices. You're gonna pay over $10 for a chicken strip meal which is kind of insane. I also wish they were open later than 6pm but I guess I kinda understand it's because they are located in the outlet mall and I'm assuming 6 is when most other stores close.
