We decided to go inside since the parking and space for the drive through is so small and there were two other cars in line which would've made us stick out in traffic if we had gotten in line. Inside was dirty and run down and just gross. A better word for it is disgusting. Don't look at the seat cushions- they're supposed to be a reddish color and are practically black from dirt and people touching them and food splatter. The walls have chipped paint and the windows are dirty and the sills gross. The table we sat at was not stable and wobbled a lot. They didn't give us napkins. Waiting to ask for them at the front took way too long for a restaurant that only had one other person inside besides us. We will not go back here, I could barely eat my ice cream seeing the filth around us. Do better DQ. read more

As a former fast food employee, I understand the anger that comes with customers coming in so close to store closing. However, there are certain standards and quality that is expected by said customers. The Dairy Queen in Harker Heights disappointed us tonight. We ordered a steak finger and chicken finger basket. One of the reasons we chose this drive- in over others in the area was because we wanted the gravy that is advertised as being in the baskets. Imagine our surprise when we got home and there was BBQ in the box. Aside from this disappointment, the bread inside the dinner was not toasted. Food - no problem. Dessert - no problem. Service - ok. Timing - horrible! ALRIGHT... the hubby and I went here to get dessert for the kids. JUST for them - TWO - no more... so WHY is it that we're FIRST in the drive-thru and we waited for about mmmm.... 20 freakin' minutes??!?? It wasn't a hard order. It didn't seem to be that anyone was training to learn their new craft of taking orders. The place wasn't packed - maybe about 2 average-sized families and 1 or 2 individuals and they all looked like they were eating and had their stuff. So uh, yeah... WHY in the freak are we waiting for that long? Two small blizzards - one with m&ms and one with cookies. Soooo was it a challenge? Did we stump them with a really hard one??? Not sure. We would've left but they held on to the hubby's card and couldn't flag anyone to come over and give it back. By the time we did, they had already charged the card. So great... yeah... Ordered 4 piece of chicken strip combo Sprite was flat, requested a sweet tea to replace sprite, and got tea with no sugar at all. The strips were over cooked, french fries and Texas toast was wilted. They tasted like they were made first and placed in the box before the strips were dropped. Make sure to check your order. Got home with a to-go order. My 14 dollar combo is missing bacon. I live in Florence so I called them up. The woman I spoke with wants to replace the meal. She asked me to call back to speak with the "manager" or I can be called backed. I can't get back there for a few days. Yesterday I returned to get this issue corrected. The manager explained that I needed to drive back to Harker Heights from Florence with uneaten food in order to get it replaced. She also claimed that she was there when I called about this issue. Honestly, I didn't believe her. I was able to get my money back for the bacon I paid for. No compensation for time lost or poor service. This DQ has been alive for at least 10 years. If people spent their money wisely, this place would be closed. Between a forgetful cook and a manager who throws the policy at you; this location is not worth your time. I went through the drive thru, bad Dairy Queen service experience, they are very very slow and they charged me 54 cents for sauce. I had several people helping me and none of them were polite or helpful at all. I wanted to express my appreciation to the service I received from the staff at this particular DQ. Jasmine and Ke'Antae were excellent!!! When I walked in Jasmine welcomed me to Dairy Queen with a smile and a friendly attitude. I ordered 2 banana splits and I noticed when she started to make the first one that Ke'Antae jumped in to assist her with the second one without being asked. I have been here handful of times, and every time is a great experience. As an avid blizzard fan for years, and over several states...I can say hands-down these are the best ones I have had. Must avoid, service time for cooked food is unacceptable and food it self is very poor.

This have to be one of the worse restaurants I've ever encountered. Many of the employees are incompetent, lazy, and unsanitary. Most of them just don't seem to care or be aware of customer service. You or food or ice cream (it doesn't matter), it takes forever. True management, especially at night, is non-existent. I live in Harker Heights, but if I crave anything from DQ I will drive to Killeen. I feel management and all the staff needs to be trained not retrained in customer service and the running of a restaurant. read more

I had lunch at this store today and I haven't received customer service on that level of awesome in a long time. From the man that waited on me to the lady that just came out of no where to hand me my drink cup. And last but not least after I got my meal I started eating and realized I needed a napkin and I turned to look for them and the manager was there with napkins for me.
