    My Receipts for the Experience

Food was cold... They gave Me the wrong burger so I have to Wait for $38.00 to be refunded a couple days...Staff seemed like it was a Big Inconvenience to correct their Mistake...By far the Worst Dairy Queen I've ever been to and I will Never go back... Take Your Chances if You like, but I wouldn't!!

The Burger Monarchy: A Paradox of Plenty in Miesville In the…read morequiet, pastoral stretches outside Eagan, there exists a roadside institution that defies the modern trend of curated minimalism. King's Place in Miesville is a relic of a different era, a burger joint that functions less like a restaurant and more like a high-volume assembly line of Americana. The menu is not merely large; it is an overwhelming, multi-page manifesto of beef. With roughly 80 to 100 variations on the burger--many named in tribute to the local Miesville Mudhens baseball team--the experience begins with a bout of genuine decision paralysis. For the average diner, the sheer volume of choices feels like a dare. It is a place where you can find almost any topping imaginable, which makes the absence of a simple fried mushroom all the more jarring. It is the one note the kitchen fails to hit in an otherwise exhaustive symphony. When the food does arrive, the logistics are the primary entertainment. The floor staff at King's Place perform a nightly feat of athletic grace, weaving through the crowded, character-filled dining room while balancing five or more burger trays at a time. It is a spectacle of efficiency that puts the sterile, automated nature of modern chains to shame. However, one must navigate the side dishes with a discerning eye. While the temptation to "upgrade" is always present, the seasoned waffle fries are an investment that yields little return; they are best skipped in favor of the standard fare. The real value here lies in the core product and the refreshing lack of pretension. Despite the fame and the daunting menu, the pricing remains stubbornly reasonable, a rare feat for an establishment that has transitioned from a local secret to a regional landmark. "Life is too short to miss out on the beautiful things like a double cheeseburger." -- Channing Tatum For those seeking the predictable polish of a franchise, King's Place will be a confusing sensory overload. But for the traveler who values soul, speed, and a price point that respects the wallet, this is a kingdom worth visiting--just don't expect to find a fried mushroom on your plate. WIN #360 Over Labor…read moreDay Weekend 2024, Barney's Drive-In, located in Waseca, Minnesota, was offering their "All In" burger challenge. The challenge consisted of a one pound burger, 4 strips of bacon, 4 slices of cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, & ketchup on a hoagie bun. In addition, a pound of fries + a quart of root beer were required to be finished within the 15 minute time limit. I finished in 6:26 minutes. For winning, I received a tshirt. This challenge is a pay-to-play, which costs around $30. For winning, the restaurant also gave me a free pint of their homemade cherry chocolate marshmallow icecream. I was the first person to attempt & defeat this challenge. I believe three in total successfully completed the Barney's challenge over the holiday weekend. A large amount of their food is locally sourced. The beef is from a local cattle ranch. Their fries are fresh cut.

They also offer igloo dining, which you can reserve ahead, such a fun touch & especially in colder months. The standard chips that come with meals are just bagged, which was a bit of a letdown...I was at least hoping for something house-made. Still, overall a really solid spot!

We shared the cheese curds appetizer, which was great. For main dishes, my son created a meal by combining the appetizer chicken tenders with a side of fries. It was a LOT of food, and very good. He brought about half the tenders home. I had a chunk of a tender, too, and really enjoyed it. My husband had the southwest burger with tots. The tots were huge, like little barrels! I had the weekend special, a winter grilled cheese. To grab the description from their social media: "Brie, bacon, apples, hot honey, and white cheddar on cranberry wild rice bread." It was extremely good. I had potato salad on the side, and I have to say, it was probably about the best not-homemade potato salad I 've ever had. Incredibly fresh. I had an apple cider mule to drink, too. I really loved the woodsy, homey vibe, too. As we were there in December, there was lots of Christmas decor.

We stopped by on a Saturday as we were looking for a good family lunch spot and the other Yelp…read morereviews were good. The whole experience seemed flustered. The host originally seated us in a space that did not fit our party. Then he moved us to a center spot in a long, family-style table with people on either side of us. We had a five year old with us who was overly tired and very spunky and we had to try to keep her focused on us and not our neighboring patrons. Was really not the most appropriate seating for children but we didn't want to ask for yet another table. Soon after we sat down, we discovered that the parties on both sides of us were upset and looking for any employee so they could express their frustration. Seeing as we were all so close, we could hear them complain to others in their parties about the service. We learned shortly that we should have written up our losses early and moved on. We didn't. We ordered our beverages and immediately got water. The rest (2 soft drinks, an iced tea, and a milk) slowly trickled out one by one. The waiter apologized every single time he came to the table about how slow everything was from us being seated to getting our drinks to him coming to take our order. Once the food came out, he was apologizing again for how long that took. He wasn't wrong. As for the food, it was fine. Portions were average to smallish for the price. It wasn't as special as we had hoped it would be based on the descriptions. We each got something different and all said that we wouldn't order that item again. Not that it was bad. It just wasn't good. The best thing we had was the pretzel stick appetizer. That was pretty good but for the price, we wouldn't order it again. Nothing was super memorable except the decor which was super fun to look at. Oh and the very apologetic waiter. Our food came out hot. Turns out that was not true for the table to our left. The table to our right got the wrong food so half their group was done while the others were just starting. Apparently one of the cooks had called in. So, over all, I gave them an optimistic 3 stars. It was like a participation award with the assumption that if they were firing on all cylinders, it could have been much better. Personally, i wouldn't try them again but as the only Irish pub in the area, it could be a neat happy hour hang out. It just was not a family lunch spot.

We visited here mostly because their online menu, and their menu inside, said they serve Kilkenny, one of my husband's favorite beers and one that is rare to find. Unfortunately, we were informed right away that they no longer serve it, either, as the distributor was struggling to get it. Alas. That is the only complaint we have, though. Service was great, busy as the place was on a Saturday at lunchtime. I had a Magner's cider while my husband made do with Schells Octoberfest. The cheese curds were absolute artwork, some of the best we've had in ages. I had the beet and goat cheese salad. It was huge with very fresh ingredients, quite filling without an added protein. My husband had a burger and fries and really enjoyed them.
