The inside dining room is closed so only the drive thru is open. We tried going through the drive thru but we were told they are only serving hot dogs! If this is all they have then they should just close down until they can solve the problem(s). We won't be back as there are many nicer restaurants in the area. read more

This place was hopping when we stopped to get some ice cream to cap off our evening. I was absolutely floored with how early places close in this beach town, especially on a weekend. Since the first time I had seen this location and it was closed I decided to give them a try. There were 4 people in front of me when I got in with my toddler with 1 person running the registers. I ordered 3 of the mix and match specials as they would be a good set of options for everyone. Ordered and it took over 12 minutes to get it out to us. During this time frame an older worker who smelled like onions or something was hovering around me and the baby saying she had nice eyes and trying to touch her. I kept her at a distance and we kept moving around the restaurant. She kept asking if she wanted a mini blizzard to which I'd said no to already. After a few more rounds of this i relented and said what ever. She went to get it and comes back saying you need to pay for it. Meanwhile she pats my kid and tried to kiss her hand. Here I was thinking that it was just a small cup like a sample. I go and pay for it and it's $3.99 while the small is $4.99. WTH! I should've just left without it, but the kid had already seen it and was wanting it. May or may not go back and hope the wait isn't long. I stopped at this location because it is near my doctor's office and I just had an appointment. It was rather busy, especially the drive-thru, so I parked and walked into the store. There were 4 others at the counter making their orders for take out. The line moved fast. When it was my turn, Timothy was behind the counter and rang up my order for Dilly bars and Peanut Buster bars. He was friendly, fast and efficient. I went thru the Drive Thru & ordered the double cheeseburger with onion rings and wanted Ranch instead of ketchup. When I got my order, I was told " we charge extra for the ranch". That is NOT good customer service since I am paying for a whole meal and should be able to get any condiments or dressing for free to go w my order!! When you go into restaurants and have a meal or a large salad, you're not charged extra for the dressing! Its not the price, its that you are cheating the customer. Absolutely the most spectacular meal I've ever been served and had the privilege of eating. It was like fine dining but fast and cheap. Rude employees & management that exhibited a total lack of common sense & customer service courtesy. During a sudden downpour the inside of my car became drenched while attempting to place a large order- after my initial item I said I'd finish my order at the window. The girl & her manager said they do not take orders at the window- I had to persist & call back the manager for to inform the "trained" non-thinking employee that she could take the rest of my order after all. They lost out on the food portion of my order due to their attitude, which would have been an addl. $50. At the time of my order there was only 1 car behind me, by the time I finished there were 4 more. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we've experienced poor service here. read more

Went inside the DQ to eat. Food was good, but every table and surface including the floors and the red trays to bring out your order were filthy. The red tray had ketchup caked all over the sides from a previous customer. It looked as though no one was assigned as janitor or table cleaning. Everything was sticky and where you can see the area in the back, there was food all over the floor. It looked like the floors and tables had not been mopped in WEEKS. Excellent site with both food and ice cream. This review is strictly for the ice cream for we did not eat any food on this visit. I loved the custom blizzard I requested and it was done exactly as I wanted. The service here is excellent. They actually ask you if there is anything else you might like. Imagine?!? The service was absolutely atrocious. There was an old man in the kitchen screaming and yelling at the poor teenage workers. He has a rat tail and a disgusting "coke" fingernail. He came over and when he took my order, he was very rude asking "what do you want". I can put that aside, but the food took forever to arrive and when it came out it was cold and my meal was wrong. I asked for no ketchup and no cheese on my seven dollar meal deal burger but it came with ketchup and cheese. While me and my husband were waiting for our food, we could hear the man yelling at the other workers. He was really picking on this one girl with the red hair and pigtails. He was yelling at her so much I could hear it from across the store. She was working the hardest out of everyone too. I'm only giving this rating two stars instead of one because she was trying her best and working very hard. A great DQ (but not the absolute best DQ I've ever been to, hence the deduction of a star). Every time I've stopped here I've consistently received great service and great ice cream. On my last stop, we ordered ice cream treats only: shakes, cones, ice cream blended drinks. Each was superb. All were delivered quickly and exactly as ordered; each was very tasty and oh, yes, quite refreshing after a sizzling day on the beach! Conveniently located with ample parking and very friendly employees, this is the spot we hit after our day at the beach prior to a nearly hour drive south to our home location. This is a very poorly run DQ. The floor is sticky and dirty, and the service is slow, (the young man totally forgot about my order). He left me there waiting a long while so I had to ask for the simple plain medium ice cream cone. So bad... Also, two employees that served us didn't have their masks in place. On another visit, the young woman at the drive-thru pushes her head out below the plexiglass barrier (so much for the barrier) and tells us stuff that has nothing to do with our order. This is the cheapest place on the planet. Up charge you for just asking for whip cream on a Ice cream sundae. Their banana splits are anemic as the plastic bowl wasn't even filled with ice cream. Also their employees need some serious training on how to speak to customers. I guess cherries are on the endangered species list as you will never get one from this DQ. Waited in the drive thru for over ten minutes with no cars in front of us. Then got to the window and two young males were hanging out talking . And we're more interested socializing with each other. We ordered two blizzards and waited additional ten minutes while they carried on with a conversation. They finally handing my husband the blizzards and one was the new pumpkin one and it was completely melted and my husband asked him to re-make it and he told my husband it was totally ser able with an attitude! I came in for a quick bite to eat and a treat this weekend after a long day at the beach. The food was average but the ice cream was phenomenal. I ordered a Oreo blizzard, I very much recommend. Although the food was alright, the service was outstanding. A young man named Aiden took my order. He was very patient, polite, and a very nice conversationalist. After I made a compliment on his hat, we talked for a bit about life, school, and about his truck. Chicken tenders are always over-cooked and too hard to eat. The toast and fries were stale and tasted like old oil. My guess is that the fryer oil isn't changed regularly enough. We don't have Dairy Queens where I live - not good ones, anyway, or at least not ones that are located conveniently. Oh, sure, there's that one off the 405 on the way home from San Diego. And while the signage is clearly visible from the freeway, you just never know exactly which exit to use to get there. And still, that's - what - sixty miles away? Forget it! There's a handful of others around the LA area, but mostly teeny-tiny places in mall food courts, poorly run, and never with a full menu. I found one some time ago in Simi Valley, staffed by a surly teenager who somehow succeeded in screwing up dipping a soft-serve cone. How do you screw up dipping a soft-serve cone? So I was thrilled when I saw this place. Huge, stand-alone building. Clean. Very clean. Great vintage photos of old DQs line the walls. Ya gotta love them vintage photos. Their longstanding mascot Dennis the Menace has disappeared. There's nary a reference to "Brazier." And the Mister Misty has been rechristened the Arctic Rush. None of this matters: Dairy Queen's - or in this case, DQ Grill & Chill's - charm not only remains intact; it's better than I remembered it. The food's great; the ice cream of course is even better. No review of this place would be complete without mentioning the staff: Friendliest bunch in all of Venice; possibly the nicest employees among DQs everywhere. They were, even more so than the food, the main reason I kept coming back during my stay in Florida. I presume much of the credit belongs to the friendly manager who likely put this team together. Not on their menu board, so ask for it: Peanut butter sundaes. Thanks to the gal behind the counter who recited all flavors, including the phantom ones, on an early visit there for getting me hooked on them for my stint in Florida. Delicious. This was my first time ever trying DQ and went to the drive thru to get a burger, fries and try the chicken strips. First and best thing I want to say is that the young woman working the drive thru was absolutely terrific. Patient as she waited on me while I was looking at the menu, friendly and professional. She even asked how my day was going which was very nice. That said, the food was fair. I ordered a double original cheeseburger meal. The burger was kind of tasteless which was odd to me. I tasted the cheese and the bun but the burger had zero flavor. It was strange, and the consistency was not what I was expecting. The french fries were good, definitely the best part of the meal. The chicken strips were not good. They were rubbery and didn't have much flavor. Overally, I'd go back and give the place another try thanks mostly to the service I received. But I'd probably limit my visit to fries and desserts. read more

This location is always clean on the inside but the service can be hit or miss and there tends to be confusion when using coupons. The employees are generally pretty friendly but not always on the ball and can have a problem when you make a custom order or when it comes to putting lids on things. If I order something through the drive thru and it comes in a cup I probably want a lid on it because I'm driving and most likely not going to eat it right then. I don't see why I have to ask for a lid every time. Anyhow I prefer coming here to most fast food places as the prices are fair, they offer a variety of items to order including Orange Julius drinks, a chicken marinara sandwich which is actually really good, most of the food is generally decent, and the drive thru is pretty fast. I will say though that they seem to be pretty skimpy on the fries by not giving very much compared to other fast food restaurants. Definitely a suggestion. read more
