Husband and me wanted to watch football and we wanted a nice atmosphere, great cocktails and food. After extensive research online we landed on Food + Beer - Florida Sports Bar in Venice. I'm so glad we chose this restaurant. We were immediately welcomed and when I requested a different table than originally offered so we had a good view of our preferred football game we were accommodated without hesitation. Tory was our server and she was very efficient on a busy football Sunday. I had the Paloma cocktail and it was delicious I just wish the bartender would have a nice black salt rim it was watered down. And I received a grapefruit segment on the first Paloma no lime wheel. No grapefruit or dehydrated lime wheel sight for my additional Paloma. Husband asked for a blackberry mojito but was told they couldn't do it. They offered a strawberry mojito instead which husband enjoyed but I was annoyed because their "Let's get Ready to Bramble" cocktail features blackberry. That was the only letdown. The menu was the draw for us we ordered from their regular menu tod. We will be back to try their bru ch menu the Hot Brown and Shrimp and grits and more... Today we started with Grouper Nuggets and Nashville Gator bites. The Grouper nuggets were well seasoned and grouper delicious. The Gator bites were better than expected. The pickle and sauce served with the Gator bites were yummy. We were watching football and enjoying cocktails. We decided to try the Crab Rangoon mozzarella sticks. These were very good and true to Crab Rangoon flavor. I couldn't help thinking that a little chili like Jalapeño or Poblano in the cream cheese mixture would have been excellent but crab Rangoon does not have a very chili so... Finally reshaped the Birria Tacos. This was my favorite dish today. The taco shells were crispy the braised beef filling was so good. The thing that put it over the top is the Consommé Dip. OMG! The food and service were great! The chicken parmesan was delicious. The drink options were good as well.

We were in the area and decided to have lunch. My son in law had been there before so he drove us there. We were sat quickly and received menus. Drink order was taken, after that our waitress was missing in action. Not sure if she had too many tables, I didn't think the restaurant was very busy. We flagged her down because my son in law said his water tasted soapy. Once she returned we placed our food order. There's a lot of spicy dishes on the menu, which I understand it's a place to drink and get something to eat. The food was well executed and came out hot. Two of us had wings which were well executed. The beer was cold, mixed drinks were good and the food really hit the spot. We started with some Mexican street corn that was loaded with creamy toppings and feta cheese and added some house cut fries loaded with chili. But the surprise item was the "walking taco" that literally loaded a taco ingredients into a bag of fritos. Wow! We gotta try this at home. Service is friendly and efficient. Terrible price and I had to make my husband food at home bc it was a nothing "burger". Very disappointed and will never order grouper there. Go with wraps, salad, wings or cheesesteaks. Fun atmosphere and tvs for sports are a plus! Our server was fantastic and recommended the wrap and it was delicious. She was really busy but she took great care to come back and check on us several times. Will go back but never for over priced grouper. This has a great atmosphere lots of specials for happy hour which is 11 AM to 7 PM. We've only been here once and that was for brunch. They have reasonable prices high-quality food and the service was very good. My daughter had bottomless mimosas with a variety of different flavors, I had a bloody Mary, which was also very tasty. we shared the breakfast nachos, don't knock it till you try it. We are on the Carnivore diet and came here for Buffalo wings. The wings were FANTASTIC, however as we discovered, about halfway through, the Buffalo sauce contains brown sugar. This place was new. Rebuilt where a old local restaurant used to be. The name is exactly that, Food & Beer. Name that simple, might as well check it out. The decor and interior was both open and welcoming. Server was very friendly and attentive. My sirloin was great, cooked tender. My only detraction , would be the amount of potatoes they put on the plate. Wayyyyy too much. I would still pay the entree price, with half the potatoes. Wife got the wedge salad and chili. She absolutely loved both and she is a very picky eater. Definitely a new place to frequent, when we come back. We visit the area 3-5× a year to see my parents, who live here in Venice. We arrived in time for their brunch menu which had tons of tasty options. We tried the following: "Drop it like it's hot" benny- soooo delicious! Nashville hot chicken benedict. The heat level (spice) was spot on! Down the hatch burger- good burger, also with spice. Birria tacos- these were my fave! Succulent and juicy. Must try! Buffalo wings - nothing wow.
