People say that this is the best burger in Venice, but the meat didn't have much flavor. I felt it was kind of overpriced for what it was imo as well. Also you can taste the oil wasn't good anymore on the fried food, and the batter on the onion rings also wasn't seasoned :/ Our server was also mid haha she didn't warn us about any upcharges on anything, we asked for ranch and didn't realize it was an upcharge of $.75 each! We got 3! Ambiance was good I liked that part but everything else was just mediocre ‍

First of all I have been going to the Pelican Alley each season for the past 8 years…read more Have always loved their food, especially their world famous Sea Food Chowder. The best anywhere so I find it very hard to give this review but I have to say what I feel. We were there on Tuesday, 04/14/26, at 6:00pm with a group of 4. Two of us had their Mahi special and found it to be fantastic (I agree) and one had their fish and chips which were also great.. I had the Back Alley Bake Gouper and I have to say it was a disaster. First the grouper was so over cooked I could only eat a out half of the portion. The shrimp on top were cooked to the point that they were crunchy and the crab meat was actually cold. No idea how that did that. The asparagus was cooked to the point that is all shriveled up. The baked potato was really good. When I told my wife about my meal she said that I should have sent it back but since the rest of our party were already enjoying their meal they would have been done by the time I received my selection. I will go back because I love their chowder but I think I will stick to their fish and chips in the future. I don't know if the management ever reads their reviews, I hope so, and maybe they can watch how they make this dish.

Albeit this visit was for the second purpose, Pilot House seemed like the perfect spot to stop in my cargo pants and work shirt :) I enjoyed a cold brew coffee (gotta have that caffeine for the drive back), bacon cheeseburger and fries. The lettuce & tomato tasted fresh, and they customized the onions away. The cheese was only American cheese and the bacon had a nice crisp, plus I added bbq sauce. Besides pretty solid beachfront burgers, Pilot House doubles as a souvenir shop with Venice FL branded merch such as koozies and sweatshirts when you want to bring gifts for the folks back home. The building itself is pretty cool with its high pitched concrete shell roof (yes I look at those things). Plus, again, it's steps from the beach and next to free city parking.

I've actually seen employees yelling at customers at this Burger king including us one time. Always a rude staff. Today young girl working the window (Friday, May 22nd, 2026 3:40 Pm). She asked us to pull forward to pay at the first window. Only two cars in front of us when we pulled up. We waited literally Five #5 minutes at the first window no one ever showed up even after all the other cars had left. We finally pulled up to the second window where she was just standing and handed us our food and chastised us for not waiting at the first window. I told her we waited several minutes and we got the "Eye roll". I also saw the guy behind us move us because no one came to take his money he went through the drive through same as us. When I suggested putting a sign in the first window that someone will be there eventually she has some smart butt reply. She also said the guy behind me was somehow different after I said he also left the first window. I literally saw a manager in tears at this location one day. Very sad, it's a nice area but this Burker King doesn't fit it's horrible service.
