Enjoying our blizzard
Doug S.

The cashier greeted us with a nice smile. Our Blizzard came out quickly and how can you beat an Oreo Cookie Blizzard? I don't know, but this place does it. Can't wait until my wife allows us to go back.

The service wasn't what I expected for an order of 2 original cones. It took quite some time for them to be ready. The cones were great once they came out. Can't beat the flavor of DQ original, it definitely hit. However the establishment itself was in a horrible state. When standing on the right hand for my order it started to smell so bad.

DQ staff is amazing, the lady named Michelle who works there who answered the phone both times on memorial day that i called, she goes above and beyond helping others and serving with a great attitude. I've been at DQ and she is always cleaning, working, serving, greeting with a smile and warm welcome. She has been there for as long as we've been going there and she insures orders are well made and accurate. The food we ordered was ready quickly, the issue was the Door Dash driver took forever to bring it to us, accepting other orders etc. Thankfully DQ had it packaged well. And the driver brought it in good condition, it was just cold because it took so long getting to us, not at all DQ fault. We had to put food in the oven. The blizzards were some what melted but it was fine, we ate it all without much issue. So we did not complain about it because this is just the way it is, door dash workers need to get as many orders as they can to provide for themselves, and i'm glad to be able to get food brought to my home, especially from our favorite DQ store. I sure hope the lady gets a raise, she cheers me up just stopping in at DQ with her welcome.

Free cone day!

This dairy queen is located near The stand in Oceanside. Parking was challenging. They don't have a parking lot. It's all street parking. We came on free cone day. It was about 230pm and there was only 4 people ahead of us. I was expecting a long line. They were busy. The staff were great considering how busy they were. We only got the ice cream cone. We had to wait about 10 minutes.

I was craving some ice cream and came in for the Oreo Blizzard. Service was fast. The young lady held it upside down before handing it to me which was cool. The restroom could be a bit clearer though.

I placed my online Door Dash order on their app this morning at 11a.m. I was in the mood to order a different kind of burger from the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill Restaurant. I love this restaurant and I grew up eating out at Dairy Queen Grill and Chill with my parents and my younger sister.

There just aren't a lot of Dairy Queen locations in California, so when I have the opportunity to stop in one, I often do so. I really enjoy their soft serve ice cream, and I found this particular location serves chocolate as well as the traditional vanilla. That's not always the case at many other DQ locations. My absolute favorite is a chocolate soft serve with a chocolate dip, and you can get that here!

So, whaddaya do in Oceanside (aka: "O'side", to me at least), after a nice lunch with a Yelp Friend…read moreyou met in person for the first time? Ya knock around on the O'side Beach, making your way slowly toward the famous Oceanside Pier, THAT'S what ya do. I absolutely love The O'side Pier, and try to make time for a trip there, anytime I'm in Escondido. It doesn't make it more difficult that it's the closest place to get to the Pacific, driving from E-town. Google up The Oceanside Pier; it's got quite a history. Ya know how they say: "There's always room for Jell-o"? Well, the same could be said for Italian Ice. Similar to Ice Cream, it contains NO Dairy (in case you're lactose-intolerant), and is simply DELICIOUS! You're not "delicious-intolerant", are ya? Which brings me to Skweezrz New York Italian Ices. "Italian Ice Joe" is set up right at the base of the ramp you walk up, to get onto The Pier itself. Great location; even greater fare. Joe's a really cool guy; I hung around long enough to see how great and easy he is with people of all kinds, be it kids, surfers, the ladies, or that annoying guy that talks your ear off, and just won't LEAVE (uh, that'd be...me). He offers every passer-by a free sample, and I warn ya; if you sample, you WILL buy! Of course, Joe offered me a "free one" (no not "that" kind). Sadly, he was out of my favorite fruit flavor (Cherry), so I had to "settle" for Strawberry; it sure didn't feel like settling. I may eat more Ice Cream than Italian Ice (as a general rule), but I really don't know why. The flavor was AMAZING! Couple that with the fact that it's gotta be lower in calories (something I could do with less of), and has a MUCH fresher finish. Compared to Ice Cream (or even frozen Yogurt), it's a way healthier choice. And it seems to quench your thirst, at the same time it's soothing your mouth with sweet, fruity coolness. Joe's got every flavor under the Sun (tho there was no Sun itself today); all the expected fruits, plus a chocolate flavor Joe sez tastes just like a Tootsie Roll. Or if ya can't decide, have him mix ya up a "Rainbow"; I can't remember if that's what he called it, but you get the idea (I posted a pic of one). Joe's got 'em ALL! It's NOT just getting a cup of frozen stuff; no, it's a whole "experience", it really is. The cool Italian Ice will soothe your mouth and cleanse your palette, and Joe's perpetual good mood is infectious. If you don't leave with a lighter spirit just by hangin' around the guy, you're a lost cause. The Italian Ice will cost ya (tho not very much at all); the uplifting spirit is FREE. If you're in Oceanside, you gotta take a trip to the O'side Pier. Take a walk all the way to the end and have a chat with the Pelicans, but don't get too close (they WILL attack, and I'm not kidding). And above all else, ya GOTTA stop by Skweezrz New York Italian Ice cart, say hi to Joe, and have a cup of frozen cheer. Tell him Larry sent ya! larrythediner .

This is probably THE BEST Italian ice cream place I've tried! They are located on the Oceanside…read moreBoardwalk/Strand right below the pier in front of The Tin Fish a great seafood joint! You cannot drive to this location, but there is tons of parking and you can walk the boardwalk and enjoy some Italian refreshing ice! Their Italian rainbow (cherry, lime, lemon), blueberry, coconut and mango ate all flavors I've tried or sampled and all taste DELICIOUS! Went yesterday and they had something new! Diablito Rica for just $5 and that includes; 3 scoops of mango ice, chamoy, tajin and a tamarindo stick, it was happiness in my mouth! I opted out one scoop of mango for Italian rainbow ice. They didn't skimp on the tajin and chamoy either and you can add the extras to any scoop(s) of Italian ice, if you don't like mango. If you ever find yourself in Oceanside on a hot day and are looking for a refreshing treat, try this place, I promise you won't be disappointed! They are super friendly and their samples are very generous! Enjoy!

I like Taiyaki ice cream and have come here for years whenever we visit Oceanside. I was just there…read moretonight. My order was taken promptly and the gentleman who took my order had excellent customer service taking my order, then...there was the wait to get my order. There were 3 employees and two were standing around while one worked. A customer who came in after me got his order, and all employees were just standing around. I went to the counter and asked if I had been forgotten. 2 of the employees got to work on my order. The only young woman working there was on her phone and handling food with the same gloves. I said excuse me, to her and pointed out that she had been on her phone and handled food in without getting new gloves. She looked at me and said, "So do you want me to change my gloves?" I replied "yes, it's a sanitation issue. I have worked in the industry and taught restaurant management." She changed gloves, cut off the edges of the Taiyaki waffle she had touched with the other gloves, finished my dish, and slid my finished dish across the counter. She said nothing as she slid the dish of taiyaki towards me, and turned and walked away from the counter. The restaurant had an "A" rating, but the cross contamination issue of handling personal phone and food with the same gloves, is not "A" rating behavior. It was close to closing and I do understand that it was getting late. It is still very disappointing. The restaurant did appear to be clean in the customer area. As I watched all 3 employees, the gentlemen working showed safe and sanitary work behaviors. I hope this cross contamination behavior by the female employee gets corrected.

I promise you it's really that good, please try both. Our cocktails were PERFECTLY made. The staff was on it, I mean you can tell they work as a team. Different ppl checking on us (but not in an overbearing way) clearing plates, making sure the food was to our satisfaction. Always filling waters. Very friendly. I haven't had this good of a restaurant experience in years. Idk if we just got lucky or this is how it always is here since today was our first visit, but we will definitely be back and hopefully capture this magic again lol Ambiance was ok, the other patrons were a little loud but I expect that on a Sunday late at night. Decor was interesting and place has a cool lounge area. Big bar! :) Highly recommend this place! :)

We started with some appetizers - my favorite was the crispy brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Everything was perfectly roasted and there was a great kick with the habanero jam feta. The fly basket was pretty good, but keep in mind that the portion size is small - 3 of each of the hush puppies, fried shrimp, and fried green tomatoes. My husband ordered one of the specials which was a short rib pot pie - one of our favorite dishes of the night. The short rib was so tender and the dish was rich but in the perfect way. I ordered the tri tip sando. It was loaded up with meat and grilled peppers and onions. I upgraded my fries to truffle fries and those were really flavorful! My mom ordered the cioppino. She was a little disappointed by how many mussels there were in the dish - she had been hoping for more fish and shrimp. She said the flavor was good though. For dessert, we did opt to try the beignets. Honestly I could have done without them. They weren't as light and fluffy as they could've been. Overall, it was a good experience with great accommodations for our toddlers and great service.

glad I gave ODIE's PIZZA a second try. much better experience this time…read more ordered a 16" New York-style, BENNY and THE JETS: aged mozzarella, soppressata, hot honey, sea salt, whipped burrata, and fresh basil and subbed vodka sauce (instead of EVOO) for the base. the whipped burrata (stracciatella) comes separately so you can top your pizza last minute. burrata's wet and if added early, you'll wind up with extra soggy slices. still not a fan of floppy (giant Neopolitan-style) pizza but that's personal preference and shouldn't be the only standard for the entire experience. also, not wild about their AI-assisted phone ordering system. gets seriously janky when you want to change sauces. the offset is without exception, every live person I dealt with was amazing. even though the dough's cold fermented for a couple of days, would say it's a stretch to call it sourdough if there's dry yeast and not sourdough starter for the rise (which I'm guessing is the case). yeah, more nitpicks. anyway, enjoyed the pizza enough to bump the rating from three to five stars.
