The service is SUPER slow!!!! They ran out of soda and various dips. We stopped by on a Sunday at 2. The wait was ridiculous and standing out in the heat of the day waiting to order was horrible. Rather buy a hot dog from Maverick. I'd at least get out of the heat. This place is a mess. read more

As a worker at Dairy Queen, I know we can be slow at times, but when we get busy, we were trained to get orders out in the number they came in. And the reason why we open the chicken strip a tiny bit is to make sure they are not raw. I get sometimes we can be slow, but as stated before we get orders out in orderly fashion. read more

TERRIBLE experience!!! Took over 40 minutes for food to be completed with only 2 orders ahead of us. While waiting for our food another person walked up to order and was ignored for over 10 minutes. When we got home and opened our burger half the toppings had been tossed next to the burger, there was 3 tiny shreds of lettuce. My son's chicken strips were ripped in half. Used to be one of my favorite places but has very much gone down hill. Only went there 3 times this year and each time was a very less than ideal experience. read more

I accidentally grabbed napkins off a food order sitting at the pickup window (It had been sitting there for quite awhile so I thought it was a display with napkins on top) and a long haired male cook told me straight to my face "If I want fuc*ing napkins, ask next time". Absolutely shocked I walked away without saying anything. Judging that reaction I figured if I made a scene he would spit in my food. Maybe he still did, but I don't know. read more

The change in ownership has been a game changer! Food side is quicker than in years past. And the customer service is amazing!

Call me a city slicker or what have you, but every DQ I've been to around the country since the 90s you walk in and it's a proper storefront with seating and etc. This one is some sort of old walk-up style with only a tiny amount of outdoor seating. And there are two different windows (actually four counting the two just for pick-ups), with food on one side and ice cream on the other. You can't even really see the people on the food side and nothing is labeled, the windows don't even look like they're manned for orders unless you see someone else at them. Turns out it's the ones facing the parking spaces nearest the building center on each side, and the two pickup windows are in the little covered walkway with the tables. Ordering and eat-in inconveniences aside, the place is OK, though the menu also doesn't list prices and it turns out they're about $1 more than in Utah or more populated nearby areas. The chicken strips basket isn't served with toast here either apparently despite being more expensive. Now that I list all this out, maybe it really wasn't OK? Ah well the girls working were nice (once you figure out how to communicate with them) and the food was normal DQ and fine, so I'll stick with 3 stars, but the whole style is kinda a time warp to the 50s I didn't enjoy. read more

I haven't been to a walk up DQ since we last visited Minnesota. What a nice throw back to years gone by. This particular DQ has hot food on one side and cold on the other. In the middle of the two with a portico covering it is seating and a few tables. The side with hot food had closed and the cold side was still open. We pulled up and got in line for ice cream. Just like Minnesota it is only open during the summer months. I thoroughly enjoy and like DQ ice cream. I think that they make the best strawberry milkshakes ever. My husband and daughter wanted a twist but they were out of chocolate ice cream so they ended up getting a vanilla cone. My son got a hot fudge sundae. He said it was the best one he ever had. I got a small strawberry milkshake. They do make the best strawberry milkshakes. read more

This has to be the oddest DQ I have ever been to. There are two separate lines for hot and cold food, and there didn't seem to be a shred of social distancing. Cold side took a bit and there is no drive thru, so hope you like standing in line. read more

There really needs to be a manager on site. Three young teenagers working and all they do was giggle and play instead of helping customers. People got upset and left due to the long lines and taking an hour for ice cream. I mean come on really. Teenagers are wonderful but need guidance! Not left alone! read more

Soft served ice cream on a stick, dipped in chocolate. Apparently this is too hard and they have to come from a factory now :( The ice cream doesn't taste normal, the chocolate doesn't melt in your mouth, they're half the size as normal and NO curly cue. Instead of wrapped in paper, which recycles, they're wrapped in plastic to pollute. Thanks corporate for ruining dessert night. read more

Me and my family went to dairy queen and they were closed but they closes the windows and had the lights on still. Dairy queen closes at 9 o'clock they told someone in a truck that was next to us that they were closed. They had the menu lights turned off and then they told another person that they cones but were out of cups. The Elko Dairy Queen sucks come at 8 o'clock or they won't serve you blizzards etc. If I could I would give our Dairy Queen zero stars. They should be more considerate of their customers they need to have an extra supply of cup for blizzards. I don't recommend the Elko Dairy Queen. Keep in mind that you need to come an hour before closing I will never come here late at night. They should be open on Saturday nights and have enough stuff for blizzards and so on. Keep up the good work of ripping off your customers Dairy Queen you should close at the hours on the internet or edit them. Maybe you should keep up with your shipments of the supplies. I expect better than what I witnessed tonight hope you can do better. Maybe keep up with stuff and you'll get more customers especially on a Saturday night so people can enjoy ice cream after a long week. Asked for a lid and the little Hispanic lady wouldn't give me one so i asked for a large empty cup and she refused AGAIN and said she'd only give me a carrier ?!! The staff is quick and nice, and the blizzards are delicious. You can order food and ice cream at either window which makes it convenient for pick-up. The food came fresh and hot and has consistently been good. I would definitely recommend going here for a treat. read more

One thing to know right off of the bat, this place is only open from about March to September/October. There are no indoor places to eat, but a few tables outside. The left side of the the DQ is the ice cream side and the right side is the food side. I haven't gone to try the food, but go for the ice cream. Even though they are a bit smaller than most DQ's, the ice cream was still the same. However, do expect to wait for awhile when you go. There have been times I've waited almost 15 minutes just to order and another 5 minutes for my ice cream to be made. It's very popular, but they are also pretty slow when making whatever ice cream concoction you order. Overall, it's your typical DQ and a good place to go when looking for ice cream in Elko. read more

EXPENSIVE ICE CREAM/ NO RECEIPT. We were there around 11:45am to get desserts for 3 there was no one else in line. It was a while before anyone addressed us. We ordered a medium Oreo blizzard, a small vanilla iced cone as they were out of chocolate, and a medium caramel shake I pay with a $20.We got our food and the change. We sat at the outdoor tables and I go to check my change I got $3.67 back I got to ask for the receipt and the lady rudely asks what our order number was. Which she never mentioned while we were at the window. She said she only had an order for $16 in food and I tell her we had just been there, and she said she wouldn't find it, she needed the order number. I just left because her rudeness and attitude was just too much. As I sat in front of the establishment I saw the receipts print out for other customers orders and she ignored and didn't give a single one. I did the math and was obviously over charged/ given the wrong change. Never taking my family here again. read more

Went to DQ tonight to buy dilly bars for a Friday night treat. WOW what a disappointment. Apparently it is "too much work" to make them in the store and now they come pre packaged and made god knows where but not made locally anymore. I guess the next time I want an ice cream bar I'll go to Albertsons and buy Hagen Daas They are better tasting and also not made locally. So sad. DQ in Elko and maybe the nation doesn't make them on site. read more

This took me back to the 70's. Hubby stopped for gas across the way so my son and I crossed the busy Idaho street easily and walked up to the ordering window. It's outside, lol. Got some ice cream cones for the road! So good and brought back lots of memories for me. Definitely a good place to stop while traveling. read more
