This place has been around for ages... i remember seeing it as a kid in the 80's when we'd travel thru Canton, the burgers are fresh and big and really delicious and their fries are so good! They pride themselves on serving Blue Bell Ice Cream and honestly, in Texas, that's about as big of a badge of honor you could get! I rated 4 Stars because the building itself looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80's either! It's not that is unclean or dirty or anything, it's just old. This is the best place! The people here are helpful and friendly! I've never eaten anything I didn't like here. I usually forget to check in. Their burgers are amazing, breakfast fantastic, homemade chicken fried steak, one of my favorite things here (besides the fountain coke) is the chicken tender basket and mozzarella sticks with The Best ranch dressing! They have fried pies, brownies, blue bell ice cream and all kinds stuff! If you can't find some thing you enjoy eating here, you don't like good food. One thing I really appreciate is they have free wifi. Today, with the tornado having torn up electric and phone lines, I was able to come here and sit for 3 hours to do my invoices for work while I munched on some great food and drank iced tea . Firstly we were greeted by the smiling face of kornpop who is an entertainer during the trade days. He was such a delight as we waited in line to get food (I see why they have him). It takes a while to get up and order. Once food was ordered it took a while to get it but from my understanding the food is made fresh which would be a factor. Great interstate food gem with something for everyone! The exotic burgers were great. We tried the Elk and Bison. The counter service was very helpful and friendly. The wait for the food was reasonable. Our only issue was not marking the boxes in the bag to make it easier to know which burger to eat, luckily only one had mustard to make it easier. On the way to Caddo Lake, we stopped off in Canton for a bite to eat. First sign we saw was for "Dairy Palace". We pulled up to their "World Famous Burgers" signage and went in to order. The have "Exotic" burgers...Venison, Elk, Smoked Duck, Bison, Catfish, Wild Boar, Turkey and SPAM! We ordered Elk and Duck. The Elk was gamey and juicy. The Duck was pastrami-style slices of breast, smoked and moist. The buns were STANDOUT and both sandwiches with a housemade plum sauce! The food here is the absolutely the Best! I have been stopping in here for 21 years with my son. The chicken strips are awesome and the yeast rolls melt in your mouth!!! A true hidden gem! I stopped for lunch on my way to Greenville, tx and was highly satisfied. Ordered a 1/2 lb burger with cheese and bacon along with a 1/2 order of onion rings. The burger was delicious and reminded me of an old fashioned restaurant back home. Onion rings were hot and delicious as well. Definitely worth stopping here instead of the big yellow arches accross the street. One drawback was that it was a little pricey. $13 for the meal and drink. Also viewed improper food handling with regard to handling cash. Before smart phones and yelp, I used to pass this place all the time on the way to Dallas, but I never stopped because I thought it was a Dairy Queen rip off. Then, one day, I was filling up at the gas station next door, and I noticed the place was packed with locals, and so I realized that they knew something I didn't know. It has been part of my itinerary ever since to stop when on I-20. The burgers are solid and there are Blue Bell ice cream shakes if you want to splurge. The fries aren't the best--usually need salt and pepper--but good. They Serve breakfast food 24 hours a day, and my kids usually go for that no matter what time we stop by (pancakes and bacon, sausage biscuits). It is all good. One of my favorite stops along i20 between Dallas and Shreveport. Decent but overpriced burgers (try the Elk or Buffalo), great BLTs (I get mine with crispy bacon & light on the mayo) and handmade onion rings (avoid the regular fries; if you must have fries opt for the curly ones) and good breakfast (go for the Texas Five Star with biscuits and you won't leave hungry). Wife ordered a 1/5 th pound onion rings and tea . Burgers were burnt , onion rings were burnt and sweet tea would give you diabetes.
