We were out that way so decided to finally stop to see what all the buzz was about. We ordered at the outside window along with others in the long line. While waiting to order I noticed that they had many toppings to choose from for your cone along with getting them dipped . I am sure it's hard to choose from but with other Yelp reviews giving me advice I decided to get a twist with crunch topping. Waiting for my number to be called which did not take very long. We found a seat in the shade which was nice . I ordered the medium cone which was quit big. This sucker started melting super quick even though it really wasn't that hot out. Not sure I why this was the case , I didn't notice a many others having the same problem as they were eating away while mine was dripping into a puddle . Cone was pretty light and a little bit of pressure punched a hole in it ( next time I would settle for a dish). I ate it as quickly as I could which took away from "enjoying" but at that point it was becoming a huge mess. Ice cream was good and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I couldn't finish it all so while finding the trash I did notice water cups attached to the side of the building wish I would of seen them sooner as I would of put the cone into it . We go to Dairy Chef weekly. Excellent ice cream and service. Due to Covid we order, and a staff member brings it out to our vehicle. I went today 8.16.2020 with masks being Mandatory. Every employee had on masks! Kudos to you. NOT 1 CUSTOMER HAD A MASK ON or was SOCIAL DISTANCING OUTSIDE! There had to be at least 20 customers. This is illegal. I truly hope the Owner of Dairy Chef is aware he could be fined and closed down! read more

What's better than a locally owned ice cream and burger shop?! They serve much more than just burgers too. I personally love their chili dogs and hand cut french fries. This place is by far the best ice cream in the Omaha area. It's a classic place with a window to the outside for orders and an indoor option as well. We got there a bit before they closed and they took everyone who was in line which was nice. The prices may seem high for ice cream but they give you so much. I ordered a mini Oreo storm and it was huge and tasty. Their sundaes are also delicious. Their basic cones and dishes too. You really can't go wrong. Wow, just amazing!! The ice cream here is is the best soft serve in the metro area. Creamier than Dairy Queen, but harder than Culver's. Plus thier food menu is legit. My phone's camera doesn't do the giant twist cone justice. It was a work of art. I thought it was too beautiful to eat but quickly changed my mind. The dude said if he knew I was going to take a picture of it, he would have made it 3 or 4 inches taller. Nice little ice cream shack has plenty of parking and a covered sitting area. I noticed the big Mo challenge on the menu which I think is a sandwich with a pound of roast beef, pound of fries and a big thing of ice cream. HOLY WOW!!! So I can't even begin to tell you how great our experience was. My medic partner and I drove to grab some burgers found this place and were like yep looks good lets do it! THE BURGERS ARE AMAZING!!! The meat was perfect! The shake was so good my partner went back in line to get his own bc one wasn't going to cut it for the two of us. I got the strawberry shake with the jalapeño pop burger and fries My work partner got the garbage burger with a cone at the last minute!! Everything was amazing and the service was PERFECTION!! Fun small town feel icecream stop. Don't be surprised that this place is busy all the time, but they have lots of picnic tables all around the building to accommodate the crowds. Nice local ice cream spot in Elkhorn. It's always busy in the summers, definitely a great spot for families and kids. You order at the window and wait for them to call your number- then they bring out your order. You sit down at picnic type tables. I went with family and we all enjoyed our ice cream cones and storms (their version of a blizzard). I'll have to come back and try the burgers and fries because they looked good! read more

It was a beautiful evening for ice cream. I had pretty high expectations considering the 20 minute wait in line. Wow, did I come crashing down. The turtle sundae I ordered had a nice presentation built very high covered in pecan pieces. There was very little hot fudge and caramel. What there was combined with the rapidly melting soft serve vanilla. It was probably the worst turtle sundae I've ever had. Maybe the food is good, I don't know. I went with the Big Mo burger today and it was easily one of the best I've had in Omaha. Their ice cream is incredibly fresh and the atmosphere is great. Places like this are very nostalgic for me, as they remind me of the stands I used to visit as a child growing up in a smaller town. This place has probably lost a little bit of its original charm since 204th Street is now a busy 2 Lane Highway, but that isn't dairy chefs fault. There seems to be an overwhelming desire of people in Omaha to continue moving West West West which is something that I don't understand, but I digress. They have a pretty extensive menu of made to order items from specialty grilled cheeses, burgers, roast beef sandwiches and more. Plus they have a phenomenal selection of soft serve ice cream's and malts. Today I tried the jalapeño Poppin burger and It was great - you can't go wrong with cream cheese and jalapeños on the top of a juicy burger and I found the spice was just the right amount. I also couldn't resist sampling one of their chocolate malts which brought back memories of my childhood all over again. The service definitely left a little bit to be desired, as I had to correct my order with the gal who took it and then still ended up with the wrong thing, but overall it seems to be a pretty well ran shop.
