a hand holding an ice cream cone
    Meg B.

This ice cream just hits different on a hot summer day. Especially getting in Fremont, where it's located in the town square, it feels like I'm about to order at the window and then have a meet cute with a local farmer and we got ride a tractor. *starts writing Nicholas sparks type novel* But really, the ice cream tastes as good as it photographs. Whether in omaha or Fremont, stop and pick up a dipped cone ! It's rich and creamy and the chocolate is sturdy in the cone but melts in your mouth.

Zesto is a landmark in Fremont. They close once it gets cold and open again when it gets warm the next year. My favorite is the vanilla cone dipped in cake batter. They also mix it up with a flavor of the week. The fried pickles are great.

Their food is very good just a little pricey. Ice cream is also good just expensive as well.

Doesn't get any better than this. I've been coming over 50 years for chili dogs and crunch cones.

We were sad to see the Zestos by the zoo close so we were quite excited to find this little place.

Let me start of by pointing out the obvious, this restaurant gets good reviews…read more I am not sure if it is from all the friendly Woodcliff locals who dine here nightly, the ambiance of the rustic brick and lumber building , the friendly staff, or the great food, but the reviews don't line. This is a MUST TRY kinda place if you find yourself anywhere close to Woodcliff Lake. Being that it was our first visiting here, our server Ainsley was very patient with us and gave us time to look over the menu. We both opted for the house salad to start. Very good!! Being that it was Thursday and every Thursday is burger night, we both ordered the house special the " I dip, you dip, we French dip". It's an all beef burger topped with roast beef , grilled onions and Swiss cheese. Served with a your choice of sides and a bowl of as Au Jus . I'm going to go out on a limb here and honestly say that I cannot remember a time that I had a better burger than this. It wasn't all the French dip toppings that made it so memorable, it was the beef patty that was cooked and seasoned to perfection. This lends us to believe that all their burgers are going to be amazing. We will be going back.

Given the recent storms hitting the Fremont area nonstop, we figured we'd support this local mom-and-pop spot for lunch this weekend. We walked in and were quickly seated at a booth near the kitchen window and the lunch counter stools. The greeting was prompt, and drink orders were taken--iced tea and Coke Zero. Yep, this little diner is proudly a Coke Zero establishment. Classic! I usually get the club sandwich, but this time I took a moment to consider if I should branch out. But, I ended up sticking with my original choice. I went for the club with tots, crispy of course. My husband opted for the Big Bopper Burger and crinkle fries. While we waited for our food, we chatted, checked our phones, and had a little people-watching session. One memorable moment was watching a toddler trying to feed boogers to a teenager. Classic diner experience! I couldn't help but overhear the servers gossiping at the lunch counter while rolling silverware, occasionally letting out a few choice words. I'm not one to judge, but it is a business, and I can't help but wonder if that might bother other customers. On top of that, I overheard them questioning whether a to-go order looked right before boxing it up. Makes you wonder... After what felt like an eternity, our food finally arrived. My tots were supposed to be crispy, but they were more like soggy, sad little bites of disappointment. I could tell they'd been fried crispy and sat around too long. The club sandwich was good, as always, though I wish the toast had been a little crispier. I get it, though; that happens when a sandwich sits in the window for a bit. My husband didn't have complaints about his burger, but there was one odd thing. The fries on his plate were barely there. He had just a scattering of a few cold ones. The server then mentioned they were making him a fresh order of fries, which left me wondering: did he get leftover fries from a previous order, or whatever was left in the fry basket? It seemed a bit off. He said the fries on his plate were cold, so I guess the mystery of leftover fries remains unsolved. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing meal we've ever had at Mel's. I'm not sure I'll be in a hurry to return next time I'm in the area. It's still a cute spot with a lot of potential, but it fell short this time.
