This is in a fun area with a lot of bars and restaurants and maybe some live music. Not sure we were on a Saturday night and I stay open pretty late but during the week it seems like it might be a bit quiet there is a taste of New Orleans restaurant it's attached to so don't be fooled if you're looking for taste of New Orleans and the lights are on. It's probably just ice cream late at night. Lots of homemade ice cream flavors that they changed often but you can mix in a lot of different toppings. Check it out.
I love the marshmallow party and the peanut butter chocolate oreo together and I love the machine that we got to see and the old vending machine
We dropped by Ted & Wally's to grab some ice cream, and my wife absolutely loved the Ozuo Oreo flavor! The black licorice flavor was immediately front and center, while the Oreo tasted more like eggnog and was a bit suppressed. Prices are definitely higher than I remember, though a small dish ran us over $7. Still, it's an awesome Omaha classic with a great vintage vibe.
Polite staff to start the experience. Allowed us to sample different flavors. The Nebraska Corn flavor was spot on. Unique and perfect flavor for NE. The vanilla bean was also delicious so had to get both! Plenty of seating inside and out.
Omaha famous for a reason!! Locally and family owned shop, made with locally sourced ingredients and ice cream made of 20% butterfat. You can instantly taste the difference. The butter brickle praline ice cream was so rich and creamy. It was hard to choose just one flavor, they had so many great ice cream options and mix-in's!! Besides just plain ice cream, they also have shakes, malts, freezes, floats, sundaes, coffees, and treats. There's a decent amount of seating and it's a great place to relax and have a sweet treat. This was a fun experience and totally worth the trip
They never disappoint with flavor. You can tell their ice cream is made fresh. Love that you can sample the flavors first too!
A wonderful addition to the original location in the Old Market. The larger kitchen allows for food beyond the home made ice cream that is their hallmark. A converted gas station allows for a cute, creative, and quality establishment now in the Benson neighborhood. Serving the best ice cream in Omaha the shop offers indoor/outdoor seating as well as packaged for takeaway delights. We are always pleasantly greeted and served. A wonderful stop anytime, but particularly good on a hot summer day!
Stopped into Ted and Wally's when visiting family in Omaha and was very impressed! I ordered the Malted Mint Oreo ice cream and it was so creamy & flavorful! My 2 year old also enjoyed his ice cream very much! I loved the look of the shop as well-very vibrant and colorful. Plenty of indoor seating and even had a cute little patio outside. In addition to homemade ice cream treats they offer delicious eats from A Taste of New Orleans. I didn't get a chance to try their food but will for sure be stopping back next time I'm in town to try som food! The staff were super warm and welcoming. 5/5 recommend this place!
Of course Ted and Wally's is an Omaha staple, and yet I rarely visit! Tonight my mom and I went in and splurged with four scoops. The service was awesome. Maddie helped us out by reccomend us her favorites, giving us options to meet our cravings, and being patient as we held up the line of customers (lol, indecision!). After trying a few, here were our favorites: #1 Lemon and Graham Cracker - this tasted like a whole lemon bar in one creamy bite! It was balanced between the sweet and the tart tang of lemon, with a Graham cracker finish. Absolutely wonderful. #2 Pistachio and Green Tea - more pistachio in my opinion, but had a clean and strong flavor without tasting artificial at all. I think this nutty and herbal blend is great for those who don't want anything overly sweet. Personally, we mixed it with the : #3 Dutch Chocolate - pretty standard flavor, but with the creamy churned texture Ted and Wally's is known for! Mixed with bites of pistachio, it was a decadent choice. I love Benson, and the seating area outside is great for people watching and enjoying the fresh air. The artwork inside is always fun to peruse, and the building has the local business vibe that allows you to feel how personal it is to it's city. Also worth noting, they collab The Taste of New Orleans during the week - Tuesday to Saturday! Two great local spots in one visit.
I hadn't had Ted & Wally's since my college days, frequenting the Old Market - so stopping into this Benson location was a real treat and a blast from the past! The exterior and inside were so bright and vibrant with pinks, greens, and whites - just like I remembered from the original location. My old favorites were still there: Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, and a new favorite - Vanilla Coffee Bean. My husband also got a new flavor to try - Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy! Our treats were fabulous, obviously very homemade (and made with love), and of the highest quality. They partner with a ton of amazing local vendors for their ingredients - and also for some of the food they serve, like a menu from the Taste of New Orleans Food Truck that's parked outside. We will definitely be back to try the actual food, and more of the fun flavors!
Quick | Diverse | Date-Spot Quick - the service is super fast. You can walk up and order to go or stay and sit inside at various tables and booths or outside at their outside tables. Diverse - they have everything from subs to ice cream to hardy meals; therefore, this may be your place if you have a cantankerous group that is hard to please. Date-Spot - we started our date night here. We were surprised by how many other couples were there eating everything from Pro Tip - I had the mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was delicious, and I highly recommend it. They can do anything from traditional scopes to cones to smoothies to milkshakes. They also give free samples. So, make sure you try a few before you commit.
I have a tip to share with you! There's an organization in Benson called BFF, for Benson First Friday. As you may have guessed, it organizes an event in Benson every First Friday of the month to celebrate art, music, and local businesses. It is a very reasonable price to join and one of the perks is that you can get a free scoop of Ted and Wally's delicious, house-made ice cream. There is an ever-changing chalkboard menu featuring classic favorite flavors as well as unique new flavors and styles if you are in the mood to change things up. As a bonus, this location shares their space with Taste of New Orleans, a great local business serving Cajun food. They are in an old building that used to be a gas station. I always love when a local business operates out of a historic building. This helps the Benson area have its unique vibe. We've lost so much of this in the Omaha area in general, so I think it's really important to support these great places.
We stopped in at Ted and Wally's after eating at a nearby brewery, and what a 'sweet' little spot it is!! Since my favorite kind of ice cream is coffee, of course we chose that...and we weren't disappointed! Creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, it was pretty much everything I was looking for. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors when we're in the area! The interior is cool and funky, perfect for a quick dessert stop. I think the decor sets the place apart - it really is unique! And to top it off, the service was great - the staff were friendly and let us taste a few flavors before deciding. Highly recommended!

I love coming here in the spring/summer for fun photos and a great scoop of ice cream! I had cotton candy this last time and it wasn't too overwhelming of a flavor but a fun kick off to the summer weather! The people working were very nice and let us try all sorts of samples before we chose what we wanted! read more
Ted and Wallys was conveniently located across the street from our hotel in Omaha so being the ice cream lovers that we are, we had to give them a try while in town. This spot is charming and cute. it definitely nails the classic ice cream parlor vibe and on the warm evening we were in town there was a good size line moving quickly through the store. There were a ton of flavor options, but this time around I went for a classic root beer float. Something about an old school ice cream parlor just seems to scream at me to have a float and so I obliged. The float was good and hit the spot, and my daughter had a small chocolate ice cream in a cup. Both tasted great! 4/5 stars only because I thought it was really expensive for what it was. I think after tip it was almost $20 for a float and a small ice cream, which felt pretty high to me. Aside from that it was a fun experience and I'd certainly return if ever in the area again. read more

It's usually not too busy when I go and that's nice. The employees are kind and will give you a sample of each ice cream until you decide. The flavors rotate frequently so you can discover new flavors each time you go. To top it off, they share thier space with The Taste of New Orleans. read more

Was very excited for this place as I love local ice cream spots, maybe it was the flavor I chose but unfortunately I don't think it was the best :( something about their mint flavor was very off putting to me and their chocolate chips didn't pair with the ice cream as well as I would've liked. It also was pretty pricey for the size that they gave and I just didn't think it was worth it. Otherwise it looked like a super fun spot to hang out as it gave a retro, old school vibe that appeared to be a local favorite. read more
Is this my first time to Ted and Wally's? Not by a long shot. Between my wife's two pregnancies and my love for a chocolate shake, I've had my fair share of ice cream from here. Ted and Wally's definitely has an old-timey feeling to it, and I always eat my ice cream in the store (plenty of seating inside and out!). This time I went with the chocolate shake and was not disappointed. Don't get me wrong...there's no fluff to their shakes....no whipped cream, full sized candy bars sticking out, or fireworks going off...it's just a good shake. I have had their ice creams, from plain vanilla to "coffee and donuts". Their ice cream is very creamy, and their waffle cones are the best in town. Also, at the Benson location, the BBQ joint that shares the space is delicious! I wish there was a bit more consistency on flavors, we go here a lot expecting something that we've had before and it's usually not there. I love that they switch things up, but it'd be nice if they had 4-5 flavors that were always available. I will say, they always have a great selection of sherbert, vegan and other specialty type ice creams. Overall, a great old time feeling ice cream shoppe! read more

I'm a huge ice cream fan. Several locals recommended this place, so I thought I'd give it a shot. There are SO MANY flavors to choose from. It was hard to decide on two. I like that several pumpkin flavors were on the menu. I ended up getting a scoop of the Pumpkin Cookie Butter. This is one of the best tasting ice creams that I've ever had! I wish I would've gotten more of it. The waffle cone was great. It was fresh & crunchy. I told the worker it was my first time checking out the ice cream shop. He welcomed me and thanked me for stopping by. read more
I love the decor in this place, and I love the ice cream.. of course! Me and my buddy meant to go to Hardee Coffee Co, but didn't realize they closed at 6:00! So instead we went across the street and grabbed some ice cream and Mexican hot chocolate! Our scooper was very accommodating, and kind. Great ice cream, always! read more
I like the roatating menu here, as it often differs from the Old Market and that provides some nice differences between the two. Otherwise, Ted and Wally Benson looks remarkably the same inside as the Old Market location- identical in fact. It's a little creepy. The people are just as friendly and I almost cannot discern any difference between the two except that this one serves some food. My most recent scoop was the Chevre, which was a light goat cheese ice cream with minimal sweetness but a lovely mild creamy taste. I hear there can be a line on warm nights, but it can't be as bad at the line at the Old Market, can it? read more
What a funky little find! Still new to Omaha, we are on the hunt for a go-to ice cream stop for the whole fam. We have nothing but chains (e.g., Cold Stone) out in our neighborhood (NW Omaha), so we tried this place. It's in such a hip little area (omg does saying hip make me sound old?!). They had a really fun variety of flavors - grape soda, ginger ale, marshmallow something. The flavors were almost too wild for us, as two out of the 3 of us got their basic chocolate and the third got mint choc chip. It isn't their fault we prefer more traditional flavors! If you're feeling like something totally unique in terms of ice cream flavors, check 'em out! We'd go back...even if we aren't ready yet for mint julep ice cream ;) read more
I've been to the downtown location a few times, but this was my first time at the Benson location. So awesome!!! Every time I think of ice cream, I always downplay how good Ted and Wally's ACTUALLY is !!!! I got a scoop of the cinnamon ice cream and it was amazing. My friend got the vegan peanut butter and it was so good too! Workers were super nice read more
Unless you're visiting Omaha (or maybe even if you are) Ted & Wally's is probably a familiar name combination. Unless for some reason you never go downtown. But then you're probably also not the kind of person who lives for ice cream. If you do live for ice cream, and don't want to go downtown... Now you don't have to! With this second location in full swing, do yourself a favor and get here now. It's a quintessential stop on any version of an Omaha frozen dessert tour (and decorated identically to the downtown original). You'll find a plethora of flavor options (try samples!) with any type of cone or dish you might hope for. Today I enjoyed the ginger-mint. Localmotive may be a little less familiar. In some ways they were Omaha's first food truck, and after experiencing some ups and downs, they're back in action downtown and have expanded to share space with T&W's new location. There was a time where that truck was a weekend ritual for us... But now that we spend more evenings after 10pm at home, it's nice to have a midday and early evening rounder option. And what ARE rounders, you ask? My favorite way to explain them is that they're like hush puppies, but stuffed with delicious fillings. Imagine a Reuben sandwich in the palm of your hand (plus three others). All for $6! Or maybe cordon bleu, or macaroni & neon yellow cheese. That was weird. But no less delicious. read more
In a town that struggles for high-quality ice cream, Ted & Wally's surpasses all expectations for quality, taste and design. Locals call this neighborhood Benson, which means absolutely nothing to an outsider visiting with a GPS. This is not the downtown location, which is notorious for long lines and waits down the street. It's a treat to see what new flavors they offer each visit. For a fan of real hard scooped ice cream it's tough to find anywhere better than this in the area. The flavor offerings change often so it's tough to pick just one to review. Ted & Wally's is great about offering samples, even if it slows the line and reduces productivity, but offers better sales. Prepare to wait. The location doesn't get as busy as their downtown Old Market location, but this one still has some wait at peak times. Parking is extremely limited. read more
