The cutest sweet treat shop with so many creative options! Can't believe I've lived here for over a year and just now tried this spot!
This has sat in my drafts for too long especially for ice cream this yummy. Warning : super creamy ice cream with a lot of fat - 20-% butterfat. You might get addicted and want to eat it everyday even during the winter. Stopped in here one night while staying at the Hyatt pace across the street. Keep seeing folks go in and out of here even when it's freezing and snowing. Has to discover what the fuss was about for myself. I was not prepared for absolutely scrumptious ice cream. Went back several times that week. Menu rotates so got to try other flavors. Fast service and cute decor. Okay parking.
Great atmosphere and ice cream! Generally places like this come across as gimmicky - but the ice cream and toppings were legit and while it was busy, the great and quick service kept things moving. Only negative is the lack of folks cleaning the stickiness off of the tables with the high volume of customers they have. Hope I get to go back some day!
Walking through farmer market it's a hot day and Ted and Wally's ice cream place bought my attention. Very nice and unique decor. Try the ice cream and decide to go with freeze and ask employee for recommendations she said strawberry soda pop with sprite so I go with her recommendation and that tastes so good.
So good!! Omaha famous for a reason. Great ice cream with fun vibes. In a great location in downtown/ old market Omaha. I love how many types of ice cream they have. You can't go wrong with a single kind!! Be prepared to wait in line on a beautiful day. Prices are fair and service is quick
I have to be honest, I couldn't wait to try this spot but it wasn't quite as delicious as I was hoping. The vibe was fun and old-fashioned, and I loved the old, salt-encrusted, homemade ice cream makers on display. We were early enough that we didn't wait in line on a beautiful summer evening. They're known for some out-there, experimental flavors, but it sort of feels out of alignment with an old-timey ice cream shop. Like, I wouldn't mind seeing them just put together some of the best mint chip I could dream up, not some whacky combo that is brand new to me. I tried a "sweet corn," because, when in Nebraska, right? I'd also had that flavor elsewhere and it was really good. This one was fine. I grew tired of it pretty early, and despite ordering a kids scoop, I essentially had a double handed to me (appreciate it but wasn't hungry). Ended up pitching it. Overall, a fun place and I'd just steer towards classics next time, and would love to see more on their menu.
Ted and Wally's extra high fat ice cream which gives the creamy dense deliciousness to every scoop. I got a scoop of the pear cobbler flavor. I enjoyed it greatly. The Keto Cotton Candy flavor is amazingly like cotton candy, but low sugar! If you like cotton candy, this is the ice cream for you! My friend got the chocolate and it is also one of my faves. The prices have gone up since my last trip to Ted and Wally's. It is now more than $6 for 1 scoop. I think this is just how prices are everywhere right now.

Yummy little ice-cream shop in the Old Market area. Ice cream was very good with lots of fun flavors. Don't let the long line deter you. It moves fast and the service is very friendly.
Love coming to this ice cream shop whenever I'm in the area. The flavors are always changing, so I get to try something new every time. The workers are friendly and happy to offer samples if you ask. Service is quick and this place is always busy. Definitely recommend stopping by while in Omaha!
This is a great old fasion ice cream spot if you like the traditional way of making ice cream. I will say it is not the best but it is dog gone good. It has the right texture and richness. The secret will be how they make the cream probably a close kept secret. My only complaint is it is over mixed resulting in a cream heavily air rated. Other than it is refreshing. It does melt fast. Licking consisrantly will hep to prevent drips. I do recommend. I tried the nutty buddy, a type of peanut butter flavor. In a single sugar cone for about $7. A little pricey but worth it to get the rich butter cream. Give it a try.

Was looking for a good desert after dinner and landed on Ted & Wally's. It's homemade ice cream and you can tell! They do have limited flavors everyday and some of them are a little funky and some do run out by the end of the night too - which is always a good sign. It was busy even right before they were supposed to close. I got the Dutch chocolate and it was good, none of the other options excited me so I had to go with something pretty boring. The inside was clean and had some fun decorations, fluorescent lights, fun art, etc. Definitely pop over here for desert if you have dinner in the Omaha Old Market!
Ted and Wally's has to have some of the best shakes I've ever tried. Their homemade ice cream is so creamy and fatty that it explodes with flavor. Their Dutch Chocolate Shake is something special. I've been to countless ice cream parlors across the country and no one has been able to replicate their Dutch Chocolate Shake. Even if you're not a fan of chocolate shakes, you have to give their shakes a try. They have plenty of other flavors and options that you haven't seen anywhere else. Theres something for everyone here. I've been going for years and will keep going coming back. Always phenomenal service and it's hard to beat a cute 1950's ambience cooling off with some ice cream after a hot day. read more
I've been coming here for decades since I was a kid. I've tried a lot of the flavors, but the flavor of their hot caramel melting through their vanilla bean ice cream absolutely cannot be topped! This has been and always will be my absolute favorite ice cream treat that I've ever tasted. The caramel is served hot, which slightly melts the ice cream for a perfect texture. The flavor of the caramel is very clearly homemade in the best way! The ice cream itself is also purely homemade, made from heavy cream that coats your mouth in the best way. This is truly the best sweet treat you can find, and a must try for any anyone else who is a fan of caramel!! read more

A truly unique ice cream spot! I got one scoop of the Apple French Toast, and it was so delicious that I miss it now that I'm back home in California. While the texture was a little icy instead of rich and creamy, and the customer service could have been better, the flavor alone makes it worth it. Love the classic diner ambiance, too. I'll definitely be stopping by again when I'm back in Omaha! read more

This was a short walk from our dinner spot in old town. Grabbed two cups: mint Oreo milkshake and the Dutch chocolate. $13.51, both are expensive. The ice creams are pretty smooth in texture. The mint Oreo ice cream color doesn't look so appealing. Neither ice cream does a lot for me. It's not super creamy or rich in flavor, both seem flat to me. Both would be a tad bit better to add some chocolate bits or chips or something to break it up some. About the most underwhelming ice cream I have had since a very long time. read more

So we were on the hunt for ice cream and this was the only place close by on a weekend night that was open. The full parking lot and decent line we thought was a good sign that this place would be good. Honestly I feel like the flavors were mid, and even the basic ones were too. I got a sugar cone with 1 scoop of ice cream, and while it was a decent sized scoop... it had freezer burn pieces of ice in it. Needless to say not impressed with this place, maybe they had an off night/day? But will probably not come back. read more

My daughter and I visited on Thursday night. We thought it might be less busy than the weekends--wrong! The line was just starting to go out the door when we got there. We waited anyway because we know that's pretty typical and the line moves quickly. Their seating area is not very big, but in warmer months people will often eat outside as well. They have a mix of tables and booths where you can sit. Ted & Wally's posts the day's flavors on a big chalkboard display, and they're known for making their own waffle cones in-house. The variety changes daily and even throughout the day---two flavors that were on their Facebook post earlier in the day had been switched to two new flavors by the time we got there, around 8:30 pm. Along with ice cream dishes and cones, they make sundaes, shakes, banana splits, and have toppings you can mix with your ice cream. My daughter got a single scoop of vanilla, and I got a single scoop of blueberry pomegranate sorbet. I say single scoop because that's the size we ordered, but I watched my server scoop my sorbet out of the container four times. It was more than enough for me--but they do offer larger sizes as well. This was our first visit back for the spring, but I am sure we will return many times over the spring and summer months. read more
I got the mint cookie dough ice cream and it was 7/10: missing the mint flavor. Maybe it was because it was hot out, but the inside smelled like old milk and was hard to get past while eating. The workers were friendly though! read more
I'm visiting from AZ and after having a horrible lunch from a restaurant nearby, my girlfriend who grew up in Omaha wanted to redeem the Omaha food scene by suggesting we have some dessert here. She redeemed the day because the ice cream was the perfect cap to end our afternoon. Because the flavors are in constant rotation, you have to hope they have something that suits your taste buds. Having sampled a few flavors before we ordered, you know they use quality ingredients. For us the Maple Bourbon was money. I ended up getting a scoop of the Maple Bourbon, Heath Almond Cappuccino, and Vanilla Bean (I'm a sucker for vanilla bean). It was all great and would have no objections to coming back for an ice cream fix if I lived here. read more

My boyfriend visited this spot before & was eager to share this ice cream experience with me. We were delighted to see the shop from our hotel window - so we walked in the rain to try it. Even a chilly, rainy night didn't prevent others from coming in - I was surprised at how busy it was. There was an interesting selection of flavors. (I wanted more options with chocolate - but that's my bias) I tried Make America Crunchy Again - an apple pie-inspired flavor. The taste was good but I wanted more chunks of stuff in it. My boyfriend lived his French Almond Custard. It's a popular spot with a fun vintage vibe. I see why folks like it. read more

The ice cream was rich and creamy. Although it can get crowded, it wasn't crowded when I got there probably since I went on a Sunday afternoon. The outside looks like a vintage service station and the inside had a modern industrial feel into it. read more

Stopping in for some homemade ice cream! Yikes! What happened to customer parking at Ted & Wallys? Ted & Wallys offers great ice cream and a typical visit to this restaurant is probably not more than 20 minutes to finish an ice cream. Customer parking has now been overtaken by employee parking and reserved spots for other businesses in the neighborhood which makes it a bit problematic to try to get into this particular business. We stopped in on Monday evening, and of the seven employee parking spots, three were taken and the balance of the four empty spots were blocked by cones. It's pretty clear from a conversation from the employees that there are no plans to address this access issue and honestly probably puts a little bit of a Kabash on coming back. Despite the good ice cream, service was spotty, wobbly tables and no parking access is a big problem. Probably will going to another business with better access, service and seating in the future. read more
