RECOMMENDATION: Ferreror Rocher Mocha - I had actually asked if the drink is pretty sweet and they asked if I wanted it less sweet :-) I just happened to find this place as a close walk to my friend's place and I am so glad I did! The Daily Grind coffeehouse at 1720 Thames St, Baltimore, Maryland is a cool little spot.  The front area has plenty of seating along with the coffee bar and bakery itself.  The back area too where the restrooms are is tucked away and a great spot to read, check up on emails, collect your thoughts, or any other work. Not to mention, right across the street from the new Sagamore Pendry Baltimore Hotel being built. I came here for coffee before our Urban Pirates boat ride at 11:00 AM which was nearby. I got an iced coffee and it was pretty good. The seating area was not clean though and I doubt they clean it regularly. There were newspapers everywhere and the tables were dirty. The restroom (women and men) key is by the cashier. The bathrooms were really dirty as well. I also doubt they clean it regularly either. It was fine for a quick coffee to go but I doubt I would spend time there. read more

Seems to be a relaxing place for lots of people in the heart of Fells but the two times I've been here the staff was not too friendly. Another time I tried to come with friends online it said they were open til 8pm, a hand written sign on the door said they were open til 7pm but upon entering at 6:15pm for a hot coffee we were told all coffee had been dumped and were closing at 6:30pm...definitely feel this is unorganized and could have at least been communicated on the hand written sign on the door or maybe the employee was closing extra early? Either way if you are in need of coffee and something sweet you can stop in for reasonable prices otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

I love the interior of this place! It was enormous and had tons of seating and a lot of outlets, which is always nice for doing work. The downside is that the wifi did not really work for me. I tried all three of the daily grind wifi networks, and none of them seemed to really work at all. That was a total bummer because I went there to do work and was unable to do so. The place inside is a little bit dirty, though. I sat by one of the windows in the back, and the window and windowsill were both extremely dirty. The seating towards the front of the coffee shop were definitely louder and more for socializing, and the back was much more quiet as everyone in the back was doing work. I ordered an iced coffee and it was decent enough! Nothing special about it but still definitely better than starbucks. read more

Visited there on Saturday morning, tried their new matcha latte and latte. The drinks were good, and I especially loved the matcha latte, which is not sweet and has actual matcha flavor. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. It's so cute inside and has a lot of space for people to set up camp and get some work done. The coffee is really good and they have soy and almond milk. They also have nutmeg which I love to sprinkle in my coffee! The staff is very kind here and the service is very quick. I especially love in the mild and hot summer seasons that they have an outside door for when folks are taking their dogs for a walk. Are generous with little cheese snacks for your pup's too! You can sit outside and people watch and take in the view or step in the doors and check out local artists on the walls, pop up your laptop and get some work done. They offer free Wi-Fi get the password at checkout. A good place for morning coffee and a paper in Fells starting at 7 am. FYI if you drive, you don't have to pay to park till 10 am. They have a door on the right that caters to dog owners. Woof! Very cool! The only issue are the two morons that come *every* morning at 7 and monopolize one of the two outside tables. An old miserable guy and an ugly gray-haired bi**h with their equally ugly dogs. The guy is a Southern drooled Trumper who pontificates on everything and everybody and ruins the ambiance. Bi**h is about 80 years old, adds nothing to his never-ending, rambling conversation. Thank God they eventually leave by 8 or 8:30. My advice is to get there after they leave, or else sit inside, or take your coffee somewhere else. It's a shame that people like them have to ruin it for everybody else. A solid coffee shop in the middle of Fell's Point. When I moved to the area, I was surprised to figure out that aside from the big conglomerate of Starbucks, this spot is one of the only options for a cheap and quick cup of coffee. While Fell's is full of great bars, restaurants and diner counters to eat a good breakfast/brunch, sometimes you really just need a quick cup of coffee and an egg sandwich - and Daily Grind is perfect for that. There are plenty of tables to sit at and and get some work done or to just to slow down and zone out while you're still waking up before the caffeine kicks in. They have lots of coffee and speciality drink options and great choices for simple pastries and breakfast sandwiches. If you value local coffee shops this is your spot. read more

Went to this place today with my best friend while visiting the city and I was genuinely impressed by the amount of seating available and the layout of the study area. I ordered a mocha and a Lox with the works. Both were decent, the coffee was well made, flavorful, and not too sweet. The Lox was awesome, loaded with veggies, and pretty good considering some of the others I've had. The only detractor from this place is the dirty walls, restroom, and the absurdly slow wi-fi. They should spend some time detail cleaning this place in order to make it appear is if someone gives a damn about the aesthetics. Overall, pretty good coffee shop! read more

Big fan of the coffee/ espresso. Been here enough times to have explored the drink menu. My go-to is the Jitter Machine, a large comes with 6 shots of espresso Lots of seating and exposed brick in the back. 3/5 stars for the cleanliness of the cafe seating area. If the cafe seating area were cleaner, I would probably give the food a shot. This is an example of what happens when apathy collides with ignorance. I stopped by on Father's Day to relax for a few minutes before meeting my party for a celebratory brunch at another venue. Always interested in trying out a new coffeehouse and reading some positive reviews left me cautiously optimistic. First impressions were not positive. Dated decor, dimly lit anti-room, dirty corners, scratched walls, and a general lack of attention created a grimy dive-bar feel. Pressing [stubbornly] on, I asked the "barista" what their espresso of the day was; my litmus test for any establishment serving coffee. She paused before finally answering, "a blend." That should have been my cue to leave. Many coffeehouses are experimenting with novel combinations, roasts and origins so you never know creativity might be available until you ask. Sadly when asked about what type of beans in this mysterious combo, she did not know and mentioned that they were not Arabica. Thank God! I shudder to think what murky concoction would have been served had they been using a variety barely suitable instant Walmart coffee. Steeling myself, I order the espresso. A few minutes later a tea cup containing a few ounces of something with a milk chocolate colored crema was sloshed in front of me. Wrong vessel and no style. The first sip told me everything I needed to know: bitter, acidic, almost acrid and no nuance of flavor. I immediately took it back and explained what went wrong because clearly they didn't know how to spot or assess a bad espresso. They offered to remake it and I rather kindly suggested a refund might be a better option. They complied and the person said, as they handed me back my cash, "Oh well. Our coffee isn't for everyone." Final Verdict: The staff exhibited a lack of knowledge, a lack of passion, and a lack of understanding. Almost every fixture was covered in thick layers of dust and the bathroom was just grody with tags than Instagram. The local artwork was nifty and tables seem to be in good repair saving them a star. read more

I like to order at the walk-up window. There's nice indoor seating and you can order indoors to sit or take out. But the walk-up window reminds me of so many places like this at the waterside. The fresh air and morning breeze, the view of the harbor, chatting with others waiting set me up for great coffee, and an egg and cheese bagel or a sweet roll. This place is packed on a Sunday morning. That's not a bad thing though. They have lots of options as far as food catering to some vegans and vegetarian options. This has the potential to be an awesome establishment, especially for those able to work from home and go use coffee shops. Tons of seating and pretty good drinks. I only had a mocha and water, so I can't comment on anything else on the menu. There is outdoor and indoor seating with a bunch of tables and free wifi. Unfortunately, the place has a terrible work environment due to the homeless guy sleeping in the corner with a bloody forehead. The barista tried to throw him out, but it was a half-hearted attempt, and was not successful. The guy needs to go even if the cops have to be called. Not sure why people want to eat food in here with some guy bleeding on the table in the corner. After sitting here for a bit I am heading to find a better place to to do my work. The bathrooms are kept under lock and key due to people trashing them, or at least that is what the sign on the door says. You have to get a key from the barista in order to use them. Even under lock and key it looks like some past customers have had a lot of fun drawing on the walls of the restroom. Don't really mind the drawing as the restroom is kept clean. If you sit at the front tables or at the outdoor tables you have a great view of the water and can people watch all the Fells Point tourists and citizens. If they actually kicked out the homeless guy(s) and had a barista wipe down the tables on a regular basis I would actually come work here on a regular basis... read more
