There's tons of seating, and even a little back room with some couches and a coffee table. The green walls with wooden accents around the space give a natural effect, and I think is conducive to focusing on work. I've got to echo other folks' reviews - the dirty chai is FANTASTIC. As was the hot coco, totally recommend. As for food, honestly not too shabby. The avocado toast had solid flavor with the red onions, but maybe not my favorite avocado spread. The breakfast sandwich was also good but I think the bagels toasted a tad too long. This is my new spot! Their chai is my favorite in the city so far, it is creamy, flavorful, and I'd overall highly recommend. If you're in it for the caffeine, the dirty chai is also great, both hot and cold! It's also a good place to work-- they had a surprising amount of table/desk space and the wifi didn't require a password which I think makes the WFH experience much more seamless and friendly for customers. i've always loved high grounds coffee because it's the closest coffee shop in the area that is actually open on Mondays lol. I really wish people would keep in mind that this is a local coffee shop and not a chain. Coffee shop location. The servers do their best to get your orders out in time. Please know that sometimes they might run a little slower than usually depending on the amount of servers working at that time. Regardless this location does their best to get you in and out as quickly as they can and they take their time preparing your food and coffee and drinks and it makes the experience well worth it. also, if you don't wanna work from home, you can actually work at this coffee shop. I ordered from here via UberEats about a week ago. I ordered a crab dip bagel and a hash brown. The crab dip bagel was meh. It was a little too spicy for me as I wasn't expecting it to be spicy at all. The bagel itself was a good bagel though. The hash brown wasn't cooked long enough. I appreciate a small business, it's where I prefer to spend my dollars. This was walking distance and being new to the neighborhood we wanted to check it out. The spot allows for a traditional table experience in the front and some lounging in the back. While it's very community oriented the furniture doesn't seem well cared for. It's also kind of dark. The service was nice although I have reservations about the same person taking the payments and making the food. They were running out of bagels so we were limited in options but appreciated the vegan options, that's not always available. I ordered a large hot tea and I liked the loose leaf tea option but needed a spoon or a longer stirrer. Not sure if I would go back but the community seems to love it. read more

Came to High Grounds on a Tuesday afternoon to co-work with a friend and grab for coffee and food. At the time there was only one employee manning the shop and she was definitely trying her best, but they were out of quite a few items the day that we went. I ordered a large iced vanilla latte and a bagel with salmon cream cheese. The food prices were reasonable considering all things, definitely have stood up well against inflation. However, the food and drink were only okay. The latte was a little more on the bitter side, but the worker was kind enough to add more vanilla syrup for me when I asked her for an adjustment. The salmon cream cheese was very different, I was anticipating smoked salmon mixed in but rather it seemed like finely shredded or canned salmon that was mixed into the cream cheese. Was not bad but definitely not what I was expecting. Unfortunately my friend's order was completely messed up while we were there but she did not ask for any corrections to be made because she felt bad for the only worker that was there. The coffee shop is cute and tries to stock their shelves with items from local creators, but overall the seating area is not well lit and did have a little bit of a musky smell to it (but it could have just been where I was sitting). I don't think I will be coming back unless someone I know insists on going or I decide that I want to try out their unlimited cereal for $2.50. Bad, watery coffee. Twice I've been here and they gave me the wrong order and I didn't even notice until I had left. The one time I ordered a croissant sandwich, the croissant was burnt to bits and they didn't give me a new one. Off the bat, I will say the service was extremely friendly and warm and the prices are good value. The biggest turn off for me was that while I was there a regular waltzed in, got some of the self-service coffee on the counter, and paid with no mask, all while chatting with the staff like nothing was wrong. The staff member didn't acknowledge this customer wasn't wearing a mask and seemed to find no problem with it. The hubris of that customer went unchecked and I don't respect that. It made me uncomfortable. The breakfast sandwich I ordered (bacon, egg, and cheese on a cheddar jalapeno bagel) was large and tasty. There was a lot of melted cheddar and jalapeno slices on the bagel which made it pretty spicy (which I liked), though the bagel was a little flat. I do wish the person who made the sandwich had cut it in half before giving it to me-- it was fine since I was going home and could cut it there, but if I was going to the park or somewhere without a kitchen it would have been harder to eat. The latte was just ok. Overall, I'd rather spend my money somewhere that enforces the mask mandate and has the guts to tell a regular to follow the rules. My favorite coffee shop in the Highlandtown/Canton area! It has a very friendly neighborhood vibe and all of the baristas are so kind. They have a great selection of drinks and some food items. There's always seating available if you want to sit and do some work (+ Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets!). Dogs are welcome in the shop and always get a treat to go with their owner's coffee. I stopped in during a rainy morning and this was the perfect respite from the weather. The barista was patient with me as my hungover self tried to process what to order. There are plenty of tea and coffee selections for whichever breakfast you prefer. You can smell and see the loose leaf teas to aide in your selection. In addition, they offer some food options. It's a cozy hole in the wall with just enough seating. There's a great selection of beverages, from drip coffee, to teas, and all the espresso/steamed dairy drinks you could want. This was a great place to come to get some work done over a nice cup of coffee and some good breakfast. There was plenty of space to work with lots of outlets and it was not a long wait. I had a latte with oat milk, which was thick, rich, and creamy. It was the perfect temperature for me so I did not burn my tongue. I also got "what the kitchen eats" which is a breakfast sandwich with caramelized onions, cheddar, baby arugula, a paprika fried egg and their homemade sausage on ciabatta. High Grounds Coffee had a booth set up at Boordy Winery this past weekend. They were selling bags of coffee beans for $10. We went over and spoke with the owner Michael Wood, who was very polite and knowledgeable. I sipped the sample without cream or sugar--it was a mild blend not bad. I walked away with a bag of French Roast coffee beans. I grinded a cup full the night before and brewed it this morning. I must say THE COFFEE IS EXCELLENT, the best local coffee I've ever had. I know High Grounds is nothing new I'm just late, but I'm glad to catch on. I'm making a switch--I normally brew Starbucks Sumatra and Verona at home. HG's French was bold and smooth; it was the type of coffee that blends easily with very little sugar and cream--un-like Starbucks dark roast. No burnt flavor that will have you frantically reaching for an Altoid. The blend is sooo even that it drowns out that funny aftertaste I've learned to tolerate from Splenda and sugar-free coffee cream. The best part of this High Grounds discovery, I don't have to ride to Baltimore or order online to get another bag, I can head straight to Whole Foods or Wegmans. They have a lot to choose from: Colombian, Guatemalan, Mexican, Sumatra, Honduran, Bolivian, Nicaraguan, Baltimore Artist Blend, Espresso, and Friend's of Patterson Park Blend. My work lets me work from home, so I tend to try out a lot of coffee shops in the area that have free wi-fi. High Grounds provides fast free wi-fi and their espresso and coffee is great. I have been here several times and will definitely be back on a regular basis. They provide microwaved breakfast sandwiches for those in a rush, handmade toasted sandwiches for those that want a better meal (ME), bagels, muffins, wraps, and pastries. All of these are for a reasonable price, though on the current menu they don't list the prices for the bagels, pastries, and handmade sandwiches. There is decent amount of seating and the owner is adding outlets to most of the tables. Seating was a great layout and the tables made it easy to get my work done. For a local coffee shop this one is striving to set the bar of excellence very high. The owner Michael is willing to make a difference for his customers and quickly addresses any issues that are brought to his attention. I received a brief tour of their coffee grinding operation which provides coffee to some of the larger grocery stores. They run 6 days a week grinding coffee from multiple countries. read more

I used to never care about how my drink tasted just as long as I got my morning jolt. The High Grounds costa rican coffee is so incredibly delicious that they converted me into a coffee snob. Yesterday, I had Starbucks and was so disappointed. Never again. Service is always incredibly friendly, but I have to admit I am jealous at other customers who seem to be the workers best friends. I never stayed, but I plan to one day park my computer there. Be sure to get a frequent user card if you are a caffeine addict. Then, he actually roasts it on-site in the back. You can take your cup o' joe all the way in the back and sit and watch if it strikes your fancy. (Note: the iced coffee is cold-brewed. Not this double-strength shiite Starshmucks schelps together. Incredibly smooooth & tasty.) Second - The espresso is JUST as good! You can't go wrong with espresso this smooth and drinks so lovingly and carefully concocted. Third - Super-delish baked goodies. Bridget (barista extraordinaire, the Empress of Amazing Espresso Concoctions) bakes the scones herself daily (and the woman knows her way around an oven!) and makes the now-famous veggie cream cheese 4 de bagels.
