Food is consistently good. The waitstaff are always friendly and try to be as accommodating as possible. High ceilings, so poor acoustics. AC is very loud, so conversing can be challenging and loud kids become an amplified irritation. Dining room is very clean, from floor to table. Condiment dispensers are kept clean and tidy. No gunk!! Food is served hot and fresh. (Some places, one just knows when something is not fresh.)
The chicken Katsu curry plate is huge!!!!! Upgraded it with the fried rice! It's massive at least 2 meals in one plate! Probably one of the cleanest ramen restaurants out there, dining room, high chairs, bathroom always clean! Restaurant is always nice and cool to escape from the hot Hawaii heat, Service is always welcoming fast and quick! Our go to is the chicken Katsu curry plate and the ramen sets, you can get a mini ramen with two sides for a decent price! If you want one of the more popular ramen broths there's a little upgrade fee, Overall food is always great, service great, cleanliness awesome, quick service! Lots of parking at Ku'ono marketplace but it can get crowded and tight!
I was craving some soup and went to find this ramen place. I entered a place and I got seated immediately. I have ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The soup was good. There was enough meat. The food was a little salty, but overall really good, and I would love to come again.
First time going to Daiichi Ramen for lunch. It was a very clean restaurant and the food was delicious! Service was also excellent. My daughter and I both had the special combo with 1 choice. I chose shoyu ramen+fried rice. She had miso ramen+chicken katsu. Both were tasty and filling. The broth for the ramen was light yet flavorful and the katsu was tender and crispy. Would definitely order that again. The only thing that wasn't exceptional was the pork in the ramen. It was slightly chewy, and wasn't as tender as I've had at other places. Another thing I appreciated was the labeled condiments on the table. Sometimes I don't know what's what, so it was nice to have it labeled. Overall, pleasantly surprised by Daiichi Ramen and will be back!
Wednesday June 18, 2025. We decided to come here after the movie Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning at Consolidated Theaters Kahala. First time, we coming here. Parking is limited with all the other businesses here. It was 9:00pm. So, had plenty parking spaces available. I ordered the Miso Combo with Fried Rice and Gyoza. I only ate the ramen and 2 gyoza and I was full. I had to take home the 2 gyoza with the fried rice for another meal. Lol. Service was friendly and fast. The food came out in a short while. The miso broth was very hot and tasty. It was good! The gyoza was soft and the bottom was crispy. I tried 1 spoon of the fried rice and it was good too. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. We will be back another time to try the other food choices.
What an amazing restaurant. Food is very good here , very clean tables too. Very nicely done, service is very very good they really pay attention to all the details.
An easy and straightforward small restaurant. New menu. Better portions. True to taste if you want mild or hot spice levels. Service quick and to the point. Clean labelled condiments in the table. Lots of parking. The new menu of unagi on rice was spectacular. It comes with a larger than small size salad with a most delicious mango type dressing. Really yummy! Mr Bland had the filling shrimp ramen filled with hefty shrimps and good broth. He exclaimed, now, this will be one of our go-to easy going restaurants. Do a Yelp check-in while there, too!
Daiichi Ramen is a family-owned restaurant that has been around since '99. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering soups, salads, ramen, udon, cold noodles, curry rice, fried rice, plates, combos, teishoku sets, and even kid options. I ordered a to-go order of the following: +Special Combo with 2 Sides - you can choose between a ramen or a udon, in which I opted for the ramen; for the soup base, I went with the Spicy Tonkotsu, asking for extra extra extra spicy; for the sides, I chose the Gyoza (which came with 4 pieces) and the Mini Pork Fried Rice +Kimchee Fried Rice - this was served with a side of miso soup The ramen noodles were packaged separated from the ramen broth; the broth itself was creamy and super spicy, which was just as requested! Both the fried rice were of generous sizes, considering the Pork Fried Rice was considered a 'mini'; the Kimchee Fried Rice was pretty ridiculous in terms of the amount, and one could split this into 2-3 meals, easily! The gyoza were pan-fried well, which I was slightly worried about, as previous pictures of this item seemed to not look as crispy. Ordering the items were a breeze. I ran in and grabbed dinner as the hubby ate at Capriotti's. Both eateries are located at the New Ku'ono Marketplace in Kahala. To my surprise there was actually a waitlist and people were lounging in the wait area. I maneuvered around people to order my takeout. I got the Ramen Black Garlic Special Combo No.2 with four piece gyoza and calamari $17.25. Everything was good. The char siu was tender with bits of fat in it. The broth was nicely seasoned even though it could have used more of the black garlic oil. The gyoza was stuffed with pork and veggie filling. The calamari rings were fried to a perfect crisp. They both paired well with their respective sauces that were put in my takeout bag, which I appreciate. They were busy, but the wait wasn't that long. I waited about 10-15 minutes for the food before I was out of there.
If you're ever in Pearl city and need a really quick ramen fix, this is the place to go! This is my go to. Honestly quick and fast service. The food just flys out as soon as you place your order. Many menu options and I absolutely love the combos you can get. And I feel the prices are reasonable! If you haven't tried it, it is a must read more

First time at this location, parking lot was pretty busy at 620pm. I ordered the combo (spicy tonkotsu ramen - extra charge of $1.25 and chicken katsu and fried rice) Broth was decent but noodles were a bit overcooked. I still enjoyed it. Chicken katsu and the fried rice was good. Good choice for an affordable quick meal. The combo is a really good deal. Will definitely come back read more

I've been here twice now with my sister. The restaurant hasn't been super busy so we're able to be seated and served super quick, which is awesome for my hungry self. We've been served in under 15 minutes with piping hot dishes, I'm not sure how many other sit down restaurants can deliver that quickly. The egg in the ramen is hard boiled instead of a beautiful soft boil, and the char siu is not the most tender, but the mochiko chicken is super moist and delicious. I love coming here for ramen and apps as you never have to fight for parking and you can go grab some Purve donuts right after. read more

Got the big bowl ramen after being assured that it came with tonkatsu broth...take a look at my photo. Does that look like tonkatsu? Thin, watery broth lacking in depth and flavor. Asked to add black garlic oil, but didn't detect the flavor. Even my white boyfriend who has no real ramen-radar was incredibly disappointed with the bowl (serves him right for complaining when i first tried to go to another nearby place with a line, and he then made me find a place with no line...there's a reason why there's no line) Gyoza were more Chinese-style -- fatter with more meat that trad gyoza, which i don't mind, so, there's a star for that. read more

The curry beef udon meat wasn't tender. Seems they didn't cook it properly. Flavor was OK....Other dishes my group order was ok...Tan Tan ramien, unagi over rice combo. Good service read more

Located between the Foodland and urgent care at Kahala MKT, this place has a small storefront but it quite expansive inside. I discovered while shopping in the center and I wasn't feeling good. I saw their sign for a Black Garlic ramen and thought it would make me feel better. It sure did, that ramen was so full of garlicky goodness that I could feel the germs dying with every swallow haha. Felt yucky yesterday and had a sudden craving for this soup, so I went and again was not disappointed. They have a "happy hour" special of free gyoza from 2:30 to 5 I believe (sorry, should have photographed the sign - see the part where I said I was sick) but I arrived at 2 and wasn't willing to wait. They do have a cool combo special on the back of the menu (not sure if it's new from the last time I went and yes I've attached photos of the menu from the first time but I can't see that small) so I got my soup (udon noodles this time) and gyoza. You can get your choice of soup and one or two sides that range from gyoza to a variety of fried foods. Paired with a Diet Coke, my meal with tip came to about $20, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. Went looking for a quick bite to eat and tried daiichi ramen. Definitely not a place I would recommend if your looking for authentic ramen. The food is good and price point is affordable. Helpful tips- if you go at between 2:30-5 (I think) it's free with a purchase of one bowl of ramen. Great place to go if you have kids & if it's your first time & you check in on Yelp you will get a coupon for 15% off your bill. There was a 10 min wait for a party of 5 around dinner time. If you plan on going you can join a wait list on Yelp and upon arrival inform the host (that's what I did). read more
Second visit to Daiichi. Nice staff and nice decor. Enjoyed the ramen. Had a Tan Tan and the flavors were good. Gyoza was tasty too. Didn't care for the chasiu, it wasn't melt in your mouth tender, and didn't have much flavor. But an even sadder part of the meal was the egg. Either it wasn't cooked that day, or it was over cooked. I really look forward to soft boiled runny ramen eggs. Mine was hard boiled to the point that it had the gray ring around the yolk like Easter eggs someone cooked too long. All that aside, the prices were cheaper then many other places and it is worth a stop. Hopefully the eggs get better. read more

New Daiichi Ramen spot open! We went around 3PM so we got a free order of gyoza with our full order of ramen. We didn't have any issues finding parking. This spot is roomy compared to the other Daiichi spots I've been to. A lot of tables spaced out. Our server was polite and filled our water constantly and wrapped up our left overs for us. The ramen is full of umami and I can't describe just how good their fried rice is. It's seriously the best I've ever had with the flufflyness of the rice and the right amount of seasoning. Also, what ramen joint do you know that serves cheesecakes? I didn't try it but I will definitely next time! It's only $3.00 as well. read more
Daiichi Ramen has another location now open and it's in the New Ku'ono Marketplace in Kahala. Located next to Lanikai Juice, I just happened to stumble upon their Grand Opening. Wouldn't you know it, it's lunch time and I'm craving me some curry!. We decided on takeout instead of eating in, but I did have a look inside and they do have quite a bit of seating. I took advantage of the 15% off flyer locate next to the door before I entered and decided on the Gyoza Curry Rice and my other half not being a big eater the Kids Chicken Katsu. I really enjoyed the Curry which had a little spicy/heat to it and the Gyoza was plump and juicy inside. That plate was Ono and hit the spot, I'm a fan of their curry now. The owner/manager was really nice and they had a good number of staff members working to help us right away. Yay! I have a Curry/Ramen place close to home now! read more
Good value and looky here- they now have unagi don! Comes with miso soup and salad. Service is great here and we always leave here full. Prices are up a little but it's so everywhere. But for what you get, it's reasonable. read more

I was ono for ramen and have been wanting to try this place. They have done everything right as far as following covid guidelines. In fact they've surpassed it, going over and beyond. I ordered the wakame ramen with miso broth and hubby had the chicken katsu curry. The katsu curry was generously portioned. Rarely does hubby not finish and we went home with leftovers. Taste wise, he said it was good. Nothing outstandingly great but still, its possible to mess up katsu curry. As far as my ramen, it was really salty to me. Next time I'll order the vegetable ramen. So yes, there will be a next time. read more

Finally was able to stop in this spot tonight with the boys for dinner. We were automatically greeted upon entering and seated immediately. The hostess and waitress was very attentive and very hospitable. I ordered one of there combination meals which included Shoyu Misu, Fried rice and (4) piece Gyoza. My older one ordered a Shrimp Tempura Ramen and the younger wanted a Miso soup and some Gyoza. The hostess ended up providing us a complimentary side of Katsu, probably because we informed her that he had allergies to eggs and there was egg in the Gyoza. This was such a nice gesture and unexpected. We were so glad we had decided to stop by to check it out. Would definitely be visiting this place soon! read more

Had lunch here today with my family. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. Was surprised how big the restaurant was, from the outside it didn't seem too large. Although we went during Saturday lunchtime, it wasn't very busy at all which is kind of odd as a felt they should be busier on the weekend. Maybe they are busier at dinner? The pork in the ramen was tasty enough but it wasn't as soft as i would have liked. If i was in the area and was craving ramen I would come back but I don't think I would go out of my way to come here. read more
Came here a couple of times and I think the ramen is okay and it'll still hit the spot even if it's not the best ramen. It's in a convenient location in the new kahala foodland shopping area. I forgot to take pics of the menu again..ugh lol but they have a combo special either one choice or two. You pick the type of mini ramen or udon you want - tan tan, tonkotsu, spicy tonkotsu, black garlic and zasai? Idk what that is and then you can either choose one or two choice of the following items like gyoza, chicken katsu, fish katsu, takoyaki, shrimp tempura, croquettes etc.. $11.95 one choice and $14.95 two choice...that's a good deal! They have all kinds of ramens with diff toppings and also curry, chicken katsu, mochiko chicken, fried calamari etc and they also have side orders and kids menu. To me it's not the best but their service is good, clean atmosphere and it's never too busy when I go granted the times were like not the lunch or dinner rush times lol. I ordered the black garlic ramen and chicken katsu and the ramen was very flavorful and garlicky and you can add more garlic chips that's already on your table with the other condiments. I do wish the noodles were more al dente. The chicken katsu pieces are pretty small but I'm guessing if you get the full size entree plate it's bigger. My friends got the spicy tonkotsu - she loves it and loves their gyoza! And the curry is good too. Takoyaki is okay. It's not my first choice for when someone mentions ramen but it's still pretty good and I will keep coming back here. read more

I tried this place because I saw it on a social media page that someone had posted how good it was and the picture looked perfect. So I ordered it via a delivery app and it is a very generous amount. I got the beef with noodles. It was deep fried Chow Mein noodles with thickened beef vegetables Chinese style almost. I did like how for takeout the noodles and the gravy were all kept separate because generally the noodles will get soggy even if it was crispy to begin with. I I also ordered the gyoza. The pictures look wonderful. However when I took my first bite I was shocked to find out it was sweet. Now I haven't had every Japanese and Chinese noodle dish but they generally are not sweet. I was trying to wrap my brain thinking what kind of noodles are sweetened and I could not come up with anything. I kept eating hoping that it would get better but it didn't. That sweetness just destroyed the entire meal. Imagine if you were eating a Chinese beef with vegetable stir fry. But it had sugar inside, how freaked out you would be. It was very disturbing as it fit no flavor profile with noodles I am familiar with. It was like the recipe called for half a teaspoon of sugar and they put in one tablespoon of it instead. The sugar overwhelmed everything else and I was just eating sweet gravy. So weird. Very disturbing especially when your taste buds are expecting one thing and to get completely something else. It came with generous portions that I think local eaters who just love big servings would enjoy. The plate that you see was only covered with half the gravy. And just one handful of the deep fried min noodles. I think I have another one and a half meals out of the leftovers. I ordered the gyoza and it's good and I enjoyed that because it wasn't sweet. I honestly don't know if I will really eat the leftovers or throw them away because it's not enjoyable. I hope the rest of their ramen are not sweet because I can't imagine tonkotsu Ramen being sweet it's just abhorrent. This is the fastest I've written a review because I had to put down my disgust as soon as I could. What a disappointment. The beef was kind of stringy and chewy and they should learn the Chinese technique of velveting the meat. However the vegetables was very fresh. And again the picture looks great too bad it doesn't taste as good as it looks. The green onions in the picture are mines that I added. UPDATE. Corrected to give it 2 stars, it really deserves 1-1/2 stars. Dumped leftovers, whatta waste, but I no ken eat sugar fry noodles. Just no can!!! Plus I super hu-hu cuz I poohoo da kala$$. Waste food is my numbah 1 sin. #2 is expensive cuz delivery + tip. read more
Looking for a quick noodle fix but not sure if it will will you up? This is the place you can have it all. Noodles, Rice, Chicken Katsu or Gyoza. Try out the special combos for choice of two or three items. Taste: Not bad for this type of fast food. Add those Garlic Chips. Yum! Covid-19: Social Distance protocols are being followed. Take your temperature upon entry. Tables are spaced out accordingly. Staff are wearing masks and gloves and still manage to provide friendly efficient service. Staff wipe down tables and chairs between customers. Two and a half stars. The place is rather small but they have enough seating. The place is tidy and clean and the two girls were very kind, bubbly and smiley. I ordered the tan tan ramen and my friend ordered the set with one choice. It was shoyu udon and mochiko chicken. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. The chicken had about 4 small pieces to it and the udon and ramen seemed to be the same size. My tan tan noodles were cooked perfectly but the char siu was thin and dry. There wasn't much flavor to the broth but it was rather on the saltier side. I guess how I can best describe the flavor as flat. It didn't have depth to it. The udon didn't seem to have much flavor but the chicken looked good. I didn't try my friend's food but she said it was just ok. I guess for the price I expected more and possibly a bit more to the dish. Its ok, I'm glad I tried this place because I heard a lot about it. I always like to try my own to see if I like it or not. read more
Great for a late night bite to eat after tennis! We loved the mochiko chicken curry! Fast, hot, fresh and flavorful. The curry sauce had big chunks of potato and carrot with slivers of onion and beef. Mochiko chicken had a nice slight sweetness and the meat was very lean and not too fatty. Large portion of rice and the red pickles were a nice touch! read more
My rating for this place is between three & four stars, but I gave four for the benefit of the doubt. It's ramen and gyoza were both delicious. As for the rice, not bad either; however, the broth comparing with competitors was on the weak side for Tan Tan. And, the charsu (too thinly sliced and not flavorful nor tasty) bamboo shoes (low quality, also too thin and short, hard to swallow on most of them) were much less than desirable. Hopefully, the management/chef will be receptive and improve on what I honestly commented here. read more
Second time here in the past month. Excellent service. I got the Black Garlic Udon and asked for it to be spicy. No problems. Water is refilled constantly. I normally dislike bamboo shoots but in this broth, it works. Gyoza had a nice texture too. I'm becoming a regular. read more

I love this place! The service and cleanliness is awesome here! I usually only get the spicy beef udon and sometimes it comes with free gyoza. I crave for this dish on rainy days and it is such a treat to get whenever I am in Kahala. Their menu can get a little overwhelming since there are a lot of options. But everything looks delicious and I am excited to try other dishes soon. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the good flavors got the broth, deep rich flavors which made a great dining experience. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with Curry rice set... Big mistake. Too much food for me. I didn't factor the free 4 piece Gyoza. My companion had the Tan Tan Ramen we both enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back sometime after our nap. read more
They finally opened a location closer to town! They are located in the new shopping center on Waialae with the new foodland. I love their combos. You get ramen and get to pick 2 sides for 12.75! I got the black garlic ramen, with takoyaki and 4 piece gyoza. Extra charge for the black garlic ramen upgrade. It was well worth it and I left stuffed! My parents loved their dishes as well. They tried the spicy tonkotsu and tan tan ramen. There's extra sauces and toppings on the table. I happily helped myself to extra extra crispy garlic. read more
