This was, frankly, one of the worst all-you-can-eat dining experiences I've ever had. ​The service was truly nonexistent. We were ignored for extended periods; no one bothered to check on our table or ask if we needed refills or more food. The entire point of an AYCE format is quick, responsive serving, but we received the exact opposite. ​The most frustrating issue was the constant errors with our orders. We tried to get two servings of brisket twice, and on both occasions, the server delivered only a single portion. Having to ask repeatedly for the basic request completely defeated the purpose of a quick, enjoyable meal. The staff overall seemed bothered and reluctant to serve AYCE diners, which reflects terribly on the company's commitment to this menu format. ​Finally, the food quality has clearly plummeted since the restaurant switched to this model. Many of the items we received tasted stale and poorly prepared. I come here a lot for lunch when I'm working in the area and the waitress already knows my order when I walk in. I usually get the lunch special spicy pork which is plenty of food for me and the quality is up there with best Korean places I've eaten at in San Fransisco and SoCal. Me and my 2 friends got the Unlimited BBQ dinner and all of it was so good. My favorite meat was the Galbee (short ribs). The sauces were also so good, my favorite sauce was the mild one, it was tangy and went so well with the meats. Service was good, waitress was very nice and attentive. Ambiance was good too. This is the second time trying Korean BBQ, and this time I loved it! We went on a Sunday night. We walked and and got sat immediately. I was surprised it wasn't more busy but excited to eat. We did the unlimited BBQ and it comes with all the meat and sides shown on the menu. Because it's all you can eat, they'll refill whichever meat/side if you'd like more. Ambiance was laid back. The music wasn't overwhelmingly loud which was nice too. The staff was also very friendly and efficient, coming by often to make sure we had everything we wanted/needed. Pro tip that I had no idea until now, but use the onions and pineapple to add flavor when cooking the meat! Can't wait to try this out again :) read more

Usually I absolutely love going to Korean BBQ places, I love being able to cook meats, drinks, all of the different sides, and the vibes of cooking with friends and family. However, I was extremely disappointed with this place. It was extremely over packed with tables and chairs. It was so uncomfortable having the person behind you bump your chair, flip their hair and it hit you, and as much as you scoot foreword and into the table, they continue to push their chair back I get it, not everyone's experience is this way, but seating could be a lot better. As for meats ... the sauces they provided on the table were three of the restaurants made sauces, which was cool to try. But the flavor of everything was rather bland except for the Dae Gee Bulgogi (spicy pork). Knowing that most people have never been to that place, a nice explanation of what meats are what whenever brought out would have been nice. But my husband and I did a complete guessing game as to what was chicken, pork, and beef and which sauces were what. read more

Ugh, I hate giving Dae Gee only three stars. The food is amazing and the flavors really get to the heart and soul of Korean BBQ. My biggest issue is the service. While the staff is friendly, once you start your meal, they disappear. This is my second visit and I LOVE the food, but having to hunt down my server just doesn't make the experience worth it. On this visit, the grill was not working properly. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to help, I just started turning knobs on the grill. I wanted to chow down on some BBQ. This was my first Korean BBQ experience, and while decent, I was not overly impressed with Dae Gee. The wait staff was friendly; our table wanted to do the unlimited option, but we had a few folks with dietary restrictions and the restaurant was kind enough to let them forgo the unlimited and order off of the menu, so long as they sat on one end of the table and didn't partake in any of the food from those of us who got unlimited. I've been to some places that absolutely will not budge when it comes to their "everybody at the table must order unlimited" policies, so this was a nice surprise and it was great to be able to all stay at the same table. The ban chan (sides) were all pretty yummy. I especially enjoyed the kimchee cucumbers, potatoes, and radish. White rice was also plentiful. I was expecting more when it came to the meat. A lot of our cuts were incredibly fatty. Our chicken had a strange rubbery consistency. For this reason, I mainly stuck to the sides. If you are a huge meat lover, Dae Gee may be the place for you, but otherwise, I'd recommend checking out some other options instead. read more

We had the chance to go to Korean barbecue this weekend. It's been over a decade since I last had Korean BBQ so this will be a nice experience. We came during lunch time on a weekend and the only option for the unlimited BBQ was the dinner menu. While it was pretty pricey, it was good food. The meats were delicious and we had a wide variety of side dishes to choose from. The dumplings were awesome. My brother in law did the grilling, which he did an amazing job. And then we spied Dae Gee across the street. 10 minutes later we were digging into really tasty food. The entire meal was delicious. Both of us loved the Chicken Wings. We got medium spicy, the wings were super crispy even when drenched in finger-licken sauce. The other thing that was surprisingly good were the Onion & Jalapeño side dish... I could just eat these!!! This place is OK. We definitely took advantage of the "all you can eat." There were four of us who met to try out this place since we had heard great things about it. We had reservations, which I recommend on a weekend evening. Otherwise, you sit and wait. The parking is next to the building (right side if you are facing the restaurant) and it is limited, so FYI, you may have to find parking elsewhere. Otherwise, the lot is nice and fair-sized. We were seated and had a few different servers. They were all nice but definitely busy. We all order the AYCE so we could try lots of different things. FYI: they first bring you a sample of all the meats. I like this idea, so you can try the different meats and not waste foods. We were disappointed that you only receive one order of galbi - especially when there are 4 carnivores. It is a first world problem, so we moved it along. We ordered the norm: samgyupsal, chadeolbaegi, bulgogi, and kalbi. They were all great. However, when I asked for sliced garlic, they said they didn't have any; even when I said I would happily pay for it. Welp, no can do. My only question for this is: what Korean restaurant does NOT have sliced garlic? Seriously? Eyeroll. The food was good, but the fact that they didn't have sliced garlic did not allow me to fully enjoy my food (garlic is food for the soul and goes with gogi). read more

We were craving for Korean food and decided to stop here before heading to the airport. The place is pretty spacious and clean. They have their own parking lot which is nice especially on a busy Street. I got the zucchini pancake, a chicken stone pot bibimbop and a veggie tofu soup. They also came with side dishes. The zucchini pancake was pretty good, but kinda soft. Wish they left it cooking longer to get the crispy texture. The bibimbop was pretty good though. The burned rice was actually burned and everything was balanced. Same goes for the soup. Portion was generous as well. Service needs a little work though. Our waiter seems awkward and messed up a few times. We asked for more side dish at one point and told them we wanted all the ones that empty. He came back with one side dish. We had to ask him again and clarify it with him. Our group also wanted to pay separately so I made sure I out our cards in the right order and explain in very specific detail which orders go with what. He messed it up anyways...we also asked for a box to go and he forgot. We ended up asking someone else and he heard so he brought us the box and apologize and gave us an extra box to go for no reason... So, food was decent, service not so much. read more

Came here with my friend. 39$ per person unlimited BBQ (except they limit you to one order of galbi?). Unimportant stuff - the service is on the mediocre side. An assortment of everything is just brought to your table instead of being able to order what you want. They also don't change out the grills at all, so once your grill is charred up, it starts to give burnt flavors to your meat. Important stuff - Food - The banchan here is way too salty. I love salty food but every single one tasted like they dropped a salt shaker in it. They are close to inedible. The meat cuts - super low quality cuts, absolutely no marbling (which contributes to the grill getting so burnt since there's not a drop of fat to grease it up). The cuts are also like...random? Like a 5 year old was entrusted to cut even pieces and instead just started hacking away wildly. Flavors are okay, but nothing stands out whatsoever. If I had to rate this KBBQ place to every single one I've been to across the country, it definitely would be the worst. Not saying that it's necessarily bad. This was a great spot for us to grab dinner, although it is difficult for all you can eat for two people and we should have realized. The thing we did not realize is that you couldn't pick what you wanted to get unlimited of until you did unlimited of all of what was included (sogogi bulgogi, sam gyeob sal, dae gee bulgogi, dak bulgogi and chadol). Everything was delicious but I could have done without the sam gyeob sal and gone with more sogogi bulgogi instead. My girlfriend and I took her sister and her kids here for dinner. Korean BBQ is always fun and I enjoy the self cooking experience. When we arrived, the place was basically empty. We were a party of eight and were seated at a a table for eight. It sort of cramped us together so we moved a table back to a ten top which was more comfortable. The waitress really resisted us and made it quite clear she wanted us to sit at the original table. The place was completely empty so we asked, quite politely, if we could remain at the larger table. She seemed very annoyed but did allow us to stay. From then on, she treated us distantly. I really don't understand the huge issue but it was a cloud over our entire dinner service. The food itself was amazing and quite tasty. Especially the Mackerel entree. The bill was nearly 300 dollars for four adults and two kids, which seemed obnoxious to me. The food was wonderful but the service was confrontational and the price was outrageous. Even with the five star food, I likely won't return. read more

I love Dae Gee. I enjoy the bibimbap, pancakes, and other dishes, but we usually get the AYCE BBQ option since it's pretty affordable. I love their sauces and make good use of them on my BBQ. But let's be real: I'm here for the banchan. Banchan are my favorite part of Korean restaurants. Kimchee, cucumbers, sprouts...all of the pickled things are the best part of the meal. Service has always been friendly. They ask if we've had it before, and one time we let our server explain it to us. We learned something new. I think I've heard the owner say he was going for an LA-style Korean BBQ vibe. Having lived in LA and enjoyed Korean restaurants there, I can see it. I try not to be a stickler for "authentic" anything, and I am no expert on Korean or Korean-American food. But Dae Gee delivers me delicious food, and for that they earn four stars. read more

Came on a Tuesday bc I saw their kids eat free sign! The waiter was great. It was 8pm so even though he was closing up shop a little at a time. He was still helpful and glad to help! My child ordered spare ribs and I shared a rice bowl with my boyfriend. Simply bc he said it was a lot of food and I didn't realize they had an all you can eat option (which we were not prepared for!).... My daughters food was good. At least the meat was decent. Since we ordered the same type of meat, I figured it would taste the same. Nope! It had no flavor through the entire bowl and if you don't eat it quick enough. The bowl turns the rice into hard crunchy & burnt. The meal I ordered had no pizazz to it. Or literally ANY taste. It was very bland and I would have never ordered it again. Oh, and there was hardly any meat in there at all. Maybe 5or 6 small pieces! Wayyyyyy less than my daughter got with the lunch portion. We (might) come back to the all you can eat option. But for almost $30 per person. I would rather go to a Brazilian steakhouse (all you can eat meat) and pay a little more where the quality is DEFINITELY there! As I walked to the bathroom. The hallway smelled atrocious also. I can't imagine ONE soul was able to harbor that demon. So with that being said. Any appetite I did have was done for! Good food, bad service. They really push the all-you-can-eat here but they also have single portion entrees and if one person at your table doesn't order all you can eat, no one can. Our table of three ordered the unlimited BBQ. The servers brought around the first helping of everything, but then the wait staff disappeared. It was tough getting any more food or drinks. Also, they don't provide lettuce leaves automatically with your BBQ order, but if you want to wrap your meat up like a taco or burrito in a leaf, you can ask and they'll provide lettuce. The side dishes are unlimited along with the BBQ, so we left very, very full. The side sauces are tasty, but I preferred the soybean paste. I will admit that Dae Gee does not compare to the best Korean BBQ restaurants in the LA or the DMV areas, so if you have out-of-town guests from CA or VA, I wouldn't bring them here. The location on Broadway has better service, so I'll be going to that location instead. read more

"PIG OUT! IT'S OK!" are the words I read upon entering Dae Gee. My family and I came in around 2 pm yesterday for a late lunch. It wasn't busy but it wasn't empty either. The atmosphere / ambiance felt clean and open. Shockingly, it didn't feel like we were trapped by the aroma of barbecue. Max was our host/server/waiter. He was very attentive and friendly, which surprised me as he seemed to be the only one working the floor at that time. All five of us decided to choose the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ, which was served fairly quickly. Firstly, we were given eight small side dishes plus lettuce, pineapple, mushrooms, onions, and bean paste sauce. The rice and meat proceeded shortly afterwards. Surprisingly, we enjoyed all the side dishes, which is rare since we've visited many Korean BBQ restaurants before and have always found one to four side dishes that we would rarely touch and nibble. The meats provided are brisket, pork belly, beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, and one serving of L.A. galbi. The L.A. galbi is only served during dinner, which we were charged at 2 pm.. maybe because it was Sunday? I don't know. From what I can taste / tell, none of it was frozen. Some meat did need more marination, or to be marinated at all. Yet you can easily dip it in the sauces they have provided to give it more flavor. We left happy and full but not to the brim. Just enough to where I didn't feel guilty about the amount of meat we consumed, haha. Dae Gee, we will be back. I don't know when but.. *Terminator voice* I'll be back. read more
