I took my husband and daughters to eat yesterday about 2.00 and I was so pleased at the service we recivied I had to request a table out of the way because my husband is ill and can't do things very well.. Dad's barbecue has been in this location for a number of years and my wife and I have been patrons since their first few weeks in business. Early on we found everything to be just as you would expect it in a classic southern barbecue restaurant. The barbecue, smoked chicken, barbecue sauce and sides were all delightful. In the last couple of years they have replaced their barbecue sauce with a wholly and entirely inferior product. They have replaced it several times, each time getting worse and worse. Several of the sides have slipped in quality and are now nothing more than dumped out of a can and heated. Of all the barbecue places in town this is decidedly the worst. A good barbecue restaurant simply MUST have a good sauce. read more

Possibly the worst meal out I have ever paid for. My obviously frozen burger patty was pink (and not in the good way it's okay for a high quality burger to be done...). The onion rings were so undercooked that it was like biting into raw onion. My partner ordered a bbq baked potato and we were informed after it arrived that they do not even carry green onion or chives. This place should be called "Bads". Ordered the 1/4 white chicken plate only to be told they were out of chicken. ?? They were out of ribs. ?? They are a BBQ place in Alabama, and they don't have white sauce. White sauce is easy to make and the waitress even said "everybody asks for that." Hello? Service was mediocre, at best. It was really cold in there and the workers told us (in conversation) that they are required to wear short sleeved shirts or purchase a $30 Dad's sweatshirt. That's just mean and uncaring. They spent a good bit of money fixing up the place (before the remodel, it was dreadful), but they still serve everything on styrofoam. Portions are fairly small for the price. This place is delicious! I've been here twice and I was shocked! I've seen this place for the past 6 years and never stopped until 2 months ago and now it's all I want to eat when I'm in Anniston! Well I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday close to 2pm, waitress came up and gave us drinks then disappeared for about 5 minutes then we ordered a simple lunch 3 large sandwiches, fries, macaroni and potato salad. The food was great but it took 17 minutes to get our meal with no backlog in the kitchen. Everyone in dining room already had their food so something that would of took 3 minutes at the max took 17 minutes. Pitiful. Got to work on speeding up the process with waitress and preparation. I sure would of hated to see what would of happened if it was busy. read more

Gave it 4 stars only because I've only had the ribs. Probably the best pork ribs outside of Luling, TX. TENDER, fall off the bone ribs. Good smoke flavor. Good bark. Sauce complements not covers up. Fried okra fresh. Baked beans could have been better. Banana pudding good flavor but pudding runny. Have not tried pulled pork or chicken so reserving that for later. read more

This was a horrible experience. We ordered takeout. The salad my wife ordered had hair in it and what pork that was in it was burnt to a crisp. My bar b que chicken was extremely dry and I honestly could not swallow it. I had to throw it completely away. My fries were cold. The sad thing is, we literally live 5 mins away. We have lived in the Anniston area for 4 almost 5 years and finally decided to give Dad's a try because my mother in law is coming to town from NY. Well we wont be back. I will start with what was good. The french fries and the cole slaw. The pork sandwich was okay. The chicken wings for lunch. Oh didnt get them Why because I could not get celery sticks with them??? What cant even pay for a side of celery sticks with them. Nope what you have to do is order 10 wings instead of the lunch 5 wings and two sides if you hope to have any celery. That is the silliest thing that I have ever heard in my life lol. So I didnt order anything other than a sweet tea and I ate some of my husbands fries. The prices are not good at all. with a tip over $20.00 for 1 lunch pork sandwich, 1 sweet tea, 1 diet coke, coleslaw and french fries. I get more food getting a $5.99 plate lunch at Pic and Save and to be honest it is just as good. Did the little BBQ at the gas station on the way to Alexandria the other day and for a lot less money got a lot more food and it was delicious as well. So. No I will not be going back because no celery , and the prices. I do have to say the waitress was very apologetic and good. But that still wont bring me back in. read more

My husband and I had dinner at Dad's on McClellan Blvd this evening. We eat there fairly often and always enjoy it. The salads, smoked chicken sandwiches, and onion rings are our favorites. Tonight was a very good visit, made extra good by the excellent waitress we had. Her name is Destiny, and was the only waitress we saw. She is young, but took care of the entire dining area, attentive to customers needs, kept tables cleaned, floors swept, and counters cleaned. Destiny also checked us out at the cash register. Just ate my last meal there; The BBQ is fine but in my opinion they had the best onion rings in town. So now they have changed them to some crap, didnt tell you and they when the food arrived you are served the worst onion rings in town so from best to worst I am sure somone's idea of cost cutting. The BBQ is fine, the sauce is Cattlemans so nothing fancy. Stay away from the chicken salad, decent wings. read more
