Their calzones are good sized so my daughter and I shared the Chicken Bacon Ranch Zone. Delicious! My husband had the Combo Italiano Zone and was also pleased. College town fun and good food with creative twists. And it's affordable and good portions! I never ate at a place that specializes in Calzones. If you buy a drink and a zone you get a free side. The atmosphere was casual and music in the background that was not too loud. The ceiling fan was kind of cold for winter since it was 36 degrees F outside so inside was ok but the fan made it chilly so I kept my winter coat on while eating. Love the cane sugar soda and unlimited fountain drinks for $2.50 a pop. This place opens til 1am today (Sunday 11/16/25) so it's perfect for late night studying or hanging out w friends late. Review Visit: November 10th, 2012 The dough here is worth the dough. Back in the early days of traveling, DP Dough was recommended to my from one of my friends. Being an interesting sounding pizza place and my voracious love of pizza, it was an obvious choice to go ASAP. I grabbed my friend Matt and my girlfriend-at-the-time and headed towards Bloomington-Normal. We parked along the side of the street and wandered around until we found it. At this time, I was still new to traveling and not familiar with the layout of new towns. I have learned a lot since then. Upon walking in, I have to admit that I was not impressed. The place seemed a bit run down and was in the middle of a renovation or something. The 3 of us gave each other uneasy looks as we discussed if we wanted to try it out despite the restaurant having seen better days. Obviously we ended up sticking it out and trying the goods. We came here blind. We didn't know the menu or what they offered. It seems that D.P. specializes in calzones. If you don't know what that is, let me fill you in. It's this taco shaped chunk of dough that is stuffed with pizza toppings and goodies. It's baked like a pie and eaten however you desire. See the image below to get a good idea. I haven't had many calzones in my life so this was not just a new place but also a new tasting experience as well. With our orders placed, we took a seat in the only area that wasn't blocked off due to renovations. It was a small dining area behind the wall menu we are standing in front of in the top photo. I don't remember what Matt or Erin ordered but I got something along the lines of a meat lovers or a pepperoni-loaded one. Looking at the menu, it was either the Italian Zone or the Roni Zoni as those two would've been my pick of choice. The food didn't take long to cook as we had our food out within 10-15 minutes. Expectations were mixed as my friend Mark was adamant about his suggestion of this place. Not trying to judge the food by the look of the restaurant, I took that first hungry bite without a terrible amount of hesitation. Both Erin and Matt waited to see my reaction before digging in. That moment between the first bite and my taste buds talking to my brain left them hanging. Then a smile emerged on my face as I went in for more. They took that as a sign that the food was good to go. My gosh, was that calzone delicious. We savored every bite as the pizza taco pie was oozing in flavor and taste. I don't think I've ever felt so uneasy about a place and then have it turn out to be killer good. Between Flingers and D.P. Went to D.P. Dough late at night and ordered right away. Large seating indoors and very clean. Ordered the Spinner and Reggie Calzones with nacho cheese and marinara sauce on the side. They came out relatively quickly and tasted phenomenal. Hands down the best calzones and service I've had, and it's great to see how late it's open. read more

I love this place, I've been here multiple times. It's my go to for calzones in the blono area. It's open late which is great when I'm craving a hot calzone after work. Came in to grab lunch when in the area and had a craving for a calzone. To be fair it was a weekend with about 1/3 of the place being occupied. Ordered a build your own calzone and breadstick combo that cost $11, so not bad for the amount of food you get. Calzone is decent, but could have used more filling. The outside was also a bit soggy, so could have been baked a little longer or had less butter rub on it. Breadsticks however were great. Nice amount of garlic and parm on top and were perfectly seasoned. Would definitely order these again if in the area. Drinks are Jones soda, so nice throwback. Service here though is terrible. You will see I had a disappointing experience with DP Dough on Jan. 3, 2024. At the moment, I am floored. I just received a personal phone call from the REAL MANAGER of the restaurant, who ensured me that the way their employee treated me was not acceptable to them. He offered an apology and presented me with a free meal. On Jan. 3, I stated that I would never return to DP Dough, but with this kind of personalized treatment, I WILL be back. Moved from Bloomington 3 years ago. Recently went back to visit and had a DP dough craving. When my fiancé and I showed up the indoor seating was closed so we had to order from outside. It's sub 20 degrees but whatever. So we proceed to tap what we assume is the doorbell but are unsure due to their being no sign about it. Eventually a lady opened the window and said "what can I get for you?" I began to apologize for not knowing if the doorbell was the correct button to push. She interrupted me by repeating "what can I get for you?" So I quickly began to order off the hot and ready menu but she interrupted me again by stating that the hot and ready menu isn't actually ready. Sadly, this location has gone downhill recently. I've been a fan since they opened and we order regularly at my workplace. I understand the pandemic made things a bit crazy and short staffed, but we have not gotten an accurate order delivered from this location for a year. They always forget side sauces and drinks. They always put cookies in the same box as a calzone which I never understood, but the now put the calzones directly on TOP of the cookies and the cookies absorb all the liquid and cheese from the zone. Before, you would only deal with cookies with a hint of peppers and onions. They have definitely changed the cookies also and they taste horrible. Kept re-ordering thinking it was a fluke, but they are just gross now. Smaller, flat, chemical taste, and burnt every time. The texture is off as if they are consistently adding too much fat or forgetting a dry ingredient. Food last several orders have had something or another wrong and the staff don't seem to care. Oh the memories. As others have stated, DP Dough is THE late-night destination if you're looking for some sexy, sassy, and greasy food to cap off your night. Unfortunately, most of the time the service is sassy and greasy as well. But that's okay! This place is a cozy, hole-in-the-wall establishment that stays open till the wee hours of the morning. The somewhat battered interior and subpar service comes with the territory. But can you really blame them? I'd hate everything that crawls through the front door as well if I had to deal with the entitled, blacked-out, trust fund kids that I've seen berate these poor workers. This place always get SLAMMED come nighttime and is consistently understaffed. Give 'em a break, Tucker. The building is great, the location in Uptown Normal is convenient, and the late hours/delivery are CLUTCH. Yeah, sometimes it might take a year for them to make your food; and yeah, sometimes it could be a year for them to take your order; and yeah sometimes the interior isn't the cleanest, but this place is like punk-rock, it's part of the experience/adventure. And you want to know why? Because once you dig your teeth into one of these greasy, doughy, voluptuous calzones drenched in ranch dressing and hot sauce after having just ill-advisingly polished off a case of Natty Light at 2 in the morning, you become one with the universe; you achieve singularity; nothing else matters; and it is all worth it. If you are counting calories, trying Dr. Phil's newest/latest poison, gluten causes your various extremities to dismember and rocket themselves across the room (despite no actual allergy...), or are (for some reason) expecting fine dining; then you should probably look elsewhere. Visited here a few weeks ago. The calzone selection was huge and they even had a 'create your own' option from various ingredients. The dough was yummy and the filling was delish - although only lukewarmish. I would have preferred hotter.
