I'm a senior at ISU and have been ordering from D.P. Dough for 4 years now; their calzones are nowhere near as good as they were before and the portions/amount of ingredients they put in your calzone has decreased significantly. The prices of some of my favorite menu items has increased by a ridiculous amount this year which is extremely disappointing considering the quality has also decreased. Our Philly calzone was simply delicious. It's not a low calorie meal but, who cares? I appreciated the "gourmet" soda options for something other than the typical Coke / Pepsi. Two of the workers were very friendly. The girl who brought our food wasn't, but let's forget about her. We can't let one bah-hum-bug spoil our day. My server/cashier Josh R. was extremely rude. Won't go into much detail but literally talked behind my back when he went into the kitchen just around the corner. Maybe next time, make sure the customer you are talking crap about is at least out of the restaurant before you run your mouth. Not my first bad experience with this staffer too. Besides him, everyone I've interacted with at this restaurant has been great. The owner Ryan is a fantastic guy and is always willing to have a conversation to you. He's also a huge supporter of ISU Athletics (order the Frisco Zone!!) and the university in general, another big plus. In regards to the food...this spot is always a go-to after a late night at the bars or even a quick bite to eat during the day for lunch. My favorite fast foodie joint in uptown. Expect a short wait when not ordering from Hot-N-Ready (late-night) menu because all their calzones are fresh and made to order. If you get a side, try out their tots. Always great and crispy when fresh. The building is awesome too. Recently renovated and much more spacious and modern. I always take my out of town friends here. It's a must. read more

It might be sacrilegious, but I think this is the best "pizza" in town. I detest the sweet St. Louis sauce that every local or semi local place has, so when I crave pizza, DP Dough or Flingers are the only zesty sauce options. The food is good. But what's ruins it for them are their high prices and RUDE freaking employees. No one ever smiles at you or thanks you for your business. Rude rude rude! The food is ok. The service is some of the worst in Bloomington-Normal. If you want to order late night food, they will take your order when you call, but if they feel like closing, they will just not make your order and either leave you hanging, waiting for a delivery that 8s never coming or worse they'll take a carry out order, let you drive there to pick it up only to find the door locked and your order never started. read more

The place was slammed with late night drunken kids starving for the great pizza alternative. Most memorable was the dude with the inflatable hippo floatie around his waist. He was getting in everybody's face. He proclaimed my companion to be a stud based on the detection from his stud finder. I showed up 5 mins past when the worker told me my order would be ready. When I arrived the lady working the counter (who was incredibly rude and no sense of urgency) said it would be a few more mins. There were about 5-6 other people waiting as well so I figured they were just slammed. I gave this place a couple of second chances because I love the food, but this is the third consecutive time they either screwed up or completely lost my order. Not only was the restaurant itself kind of dingy and scuzzy-looking, the food was rather expensive and not really that good. For my $10, I got an admittedly fairly large calzone, served piping hot, with a bunch of oven-baked, squishy, over-peppered fries thrown into the box. And a drink ... without a lid, because they were apparently out. The food itself was fairly tasteless. I had a Pineapple thingamabob which had Chicken, Ham, Pineapple, and BBQ sauce. It was definitely fresh, but it was also so hot that it had zero flavor. I saved the second half, which I reheated today. My fiance and I recently ordered from DP Dough because he heard about them on a radio commercial. We both grew up in the Chicago area and I moved here just two years ago. It seems like there's no good pizza here. I was really surprised by DP Dough's calzones. We've ordered from there twice now. The calzones are great! Good dough and the marinara sauce is yummy, not too sweet. They do put a lot of pepper on their fries, I don't know why. My daughter is a picky eater and so she had chicken tenders and fries. She couldn't eat the fries, they got too hot with all that pepper. We also ordered Party Stix, bread sticks with some sauce, pepperoni, and ground beef. They were not so good. The dough and the marinara sauce is the same as the calzones. It just doesn't taste as good when it's in pizza form. We will definitely order calzones again. read more

The calzones here are legitimately tasty and huge for what you pay for them. Though they take a little while when you order them at the counter, the quality is definitely there. You can finish a whole one yourself, but you won't need to eat for the next two meals. Are you drunk and/or sad? Order up one of these girthy calzones and it will not disappoint. The 'zones on the menu are good but don't be afraid to make you own construction zone if you are feeling creative. Pretty long delivery wait on the weekend nights but very fast any other night. A little expensive if you get delivery, but it is worth it. Great college town establishment. Also open very late which is key. read more

I pretty much only find myself here after wandering around Normal at questionable hours of the night when visiting ISU, but every time I go here I'm both thankful and disappointed that I am no where near one of these. The food is greasy delicious food, perfect if you've had a drink or five. So much so that my body is thankful there's none of these by me. I haven't explored the menu too much, I have gotten the same thing almost every time I have come here. But I typically don't come alone and I have never seen someone disappointed with the food we received. I also have only gone in and placed an order, I have never done delivery but for the most part the timing of our food was not too bad. I also have never gone in when I had anything but time to spend there because what else do I need to be doing at like, 1 am? I wouldn't say this is quality food that is a MUST try, but it's good, I like that this place is open at weird hours of the night, and service has never been bad in my experiences. read more

D.P. Dough is a chain that seems to market only in college towns, which is why they must have decided to open one up near ISU in Normal. There are about 40 different calzone options and you can create your own by selecting 4 ingredients. A calzone is basically a pizza folded in half, so you get this half-moon turnover of goodness for $6.50. There are also a lot of great veggie options so everyone will be happy. This would be 4....and maybe now it's better. About 5 months ago, I went here to eat. The LITTLE dining area was just a mess. It was obvious people had recently been there and no one cleaned up. It was a shame. HOWEVER, I do know that they are expanding and renovating. I have ordered delivery a few times...once online and then, was unable to because the computer recognized me as "out of their delivery range"... called and got my order The food- when you getyour food, you may want to ask for the calzone to be cooked a little extra. I like mine a little darker than theirs traditionally comes. They have a BAGILLION options, and you can make your own as well. Love this place! The "calzones" (stromboli?) Are large and are plenty to choose from. I like the mac daddy with jalapeño. I mostly order delivery and can be done super late in case my shift runs long. Fries and tots are average. Update: Ordered a side salad with house vinaigrette. Awful dressing. I don't know if I got a new batch or the bottom of the barrel but it was all oil and no vinegar or taste, had to throw the salad away it was so bad. Avoid the house dressing! read more

Amazing calzones and is a staple of ISU culture. They have every possible ingredient, including the ultimate food group, mac n' cheese. The only complaint I have is that their fries are probably the worst I've ever had. On a scale from 1-McDonald's, they are probably a -0.5. It's basically like if you took fries you bought from Walmart, undercooked them, dipped them in water and then let them soak the 45 minute delivery time, you would have DP Doughs fries. But then again who goes here for fries. I hope you don't. If you do, may God have mercy on your soul. I'm pretty sure I can taste the Irish Potato Famine in every bite. 4 stars read more

We waited an hour and 20 minutes for one calzone, which arrived cold, and half of it was empty.
